In this study, a ubiquitous sensor for condition monitoring of insulators and lightning arresters installed in power distribution lines and electric traction vehicles is presented. The sensor consists of two parts; a leakage current measurement and a lightning surge detection. Measured data are transmitted to a supervisory computer through ZigBee protocol based on IEEE 802.15.4. To detect leakage current, a window type Mn-ZCT is used and a low-noise amplifier with a gain of 60dB is designed, and this can measure leakage current in ranges of $100{\mu}A{\sim}5mA$. A sample-hold(S/H) and a Rogowski coil are injected to analyze the magnitude of surge current in ranges from 500A to 10kA with $8/20{\mu}s$-waveform.

Nowadays, to prevent electrical accidents in Korea, inspectors directly performed checking general electrical facilities as a cycle from every one to three years. It is difficult to presuppose an omen because intact conditions of electrical equipments are not kept at the time of inspection. In this paper, in order to ensure effectiveness of an online basis electric inspection, we developed an electrical safety IoT system using LoRa communication technology to enable monitoring mainly electrical safety components such as overcurrent, overvoltage, resistive leakage current, and power. Then we proposed a method for verifying performances of the prosed electrical safety IoT system. Resistive leakage currents are calculated by using difference of phase between voltages and currents. We verified that average errors are 0.97%, which reference goal is ${\pm}5%$ for a device, through reliability test according to conditions. Results of this research can be used as basic study materials to develop technologies for measuring three phase leakage current and for implementing public electrical safety. platform.

The traction DC feeder cable is one of the key devices for the safety operation of subway system, but for low voltage DC feeder cable (<3000 V) for subway, little attention has been paid by investigators on its online monitoring technology. With an introduction of cable laying and operation environment for the cable, this paper investigated the on-line monitoring technology of 1500 V DC feeder cable of subway. Firstly, in the text, the fault model of 1500 V DC cable was proposed based on the analysis of the fault type of the DC feeder cable, and then put forward synthetically on-line monitoring discharge signal and DC leakage current signal to assess DC feeder cable insulating state. The results of laboratory experiment prove that the proposed methods are feasible and can be implemented on-line monitor on DC feeder cable of subway.
ln this paper, it was reported the developed results of the monitoring unit for 72.5kY GIS which it is one part of the monitoring system for the substation that Korea Railway Company is promoting. In order to monitor the operational status of GIS, four parameters were chosen: the number of times of the circuit breaker switching, tightness of the gas-sealed units (circuit breaker / disconnecting switch / earthing switch), the number of times of the lightning arrestor operating and the leakage current of the lighting arrester. We constructed the monitoring system that can be judged the operating condition of the GIS from the signal of the suitable sensor for the purpose. Therefore, it is possible to on line monitoring for the condition of the GlS without efforts of the Periodic inspection.
In this paper, in order to reduce the electrical disaster such as electrical fire at traditional markets, we need to develop the ESMS(electrical safety monitoring system) which is able to monitor the power status of electrical equipments. Therefore, for solving the those problems, we developed the detection censor(ZCT, CT) and equipment of data analysis and transmission. The detection censor and equipment are able to monitor the electrical equipments condition(over current, leakage current, arc, etc.). We constructed Test-Bed for testing reliability of the ESMS and obtained certification. And we tested the over current, leakage current and arc under the normal condition.
We show three-dimensional distribution of voltages resulted from the leakage current originated from outdoor electrical facilities in a submerged area. In case these facilities are grounded by the neutral line multiple grounding method, the existence of ungrounded electrical facilities can cause a disastrous effect on near-by passengers. In order to investigate this situation, we installed a real-scale test field for the experiment type I (for the leakage current path between a enclosure grounded electrical facility and another enclosure grounded one), and that for the experiment type II (for the leakage current path between a enclosure grounded electrical facility and another ungrounded one). For both cases, we carried out three-dimensional monitoring of the voltage distribution while varying additional conditions such as the exposure of the underground cables and the finishing of cable connection part. The result shows that a disastrous effect on human safety can arise from the leakage current without a pertinent measure for the construction and maintenance of outdoor electrical facilities.
This paper deals with the analysis of leakage current characteristics of silicone rubber insulator in order to develop a new condition monitoring tool to identify the flashover of outdoor insulators. In this work, laboratory based pollution performance tests are carried out on silicone rubber insulator under ac voltage at different pollution levels and relative humidity conditions with sodium chloride (NaCl) as a contaminant. Min-Norm spectral analysis is adopted to calculate the higher order harmonics and Signal Noise Ratio (SNR). Choi-Williams Distribution (CWD) function is employed to understand the time frequency characteristics of the leakage current signal. Reported results on silicone rubber insulators show that the flashover development process of outdoor polymer insulators could be identified from the higher order harmonics and signal noise ratio values of leakage current signals.
The ageing process was checked by leakage current monitoring in Salt Fog Method. In order to monitor leakage current, DAS with 12-bit, 8-channel A/D converter was prepared. The monitored components of leakage current were averages of the rms and peak, max peak, cumulative charge, and the cumulative number of peak pulses. The acquired data were stored to the disc periodically. And, surface conductivity was measured to investigate loss of hydrophobicity. The results suggest that surface conductivity and leakage current are well corresponding to initial loss of hydrophobicity.
