대화적 탐구를 적용한 '지층과 화석' 단원 수업에서 초등학생들의 심리기능 형성 및 내면화 과정 (Elementary Children's Mental Functioning and Internalization in Social Constructivist Teaching with Dialogic Inquiry about Strata and Fossils)

  • In social constructivist teaching, knowledge construction is achieved through learners' collective social interaction. Vygotsky argued that this process is mediated with language use, and the development of higher order thinking is realized through the transition from inter-personal psychological functions to intra-personal psychological functions. In so doing scientific concepts are internalized to learners. This study examined the third grade elementary students' inter/intra-personal psychological functions and their internalization processes during social constructivist teaching plan about strata and fossils. The lessons were designed along with Wells' dialogic inquiry and Leach and Scott's social constructivist teaching-learning sequences. Results showed that a teacher's utterances of talking with questioning to switch attention, creating cognitive disequilibrium, and expanding the width of students' opinions could make effective inter-personal psychological function. In addition, a learner's inner speech expressed into social discourse through talking about personal experiences, comparing epistemic idea with visual representation, or applying to different situation showed his/her intra-personal psychological function. Some cases of learners' internalization through language use could be at the stage of knowledge building and understanding of the spiral of knowing, but not all. Thus it is argued that a teacher's deeper insight into Vygotskian social constructivist teaching can make elementary science classroom teaching more effective in their inter/intra-psychological functions.

Modeling the sensitivity of hydrogeological parameters associated with leaching of uranium transport in an unsaturated porous medium

  • The uranium ore residues from the legacies of past uranium mining and milling activities that resulted from the less stringent environmental standards along with the uranium residues from the existing nuclear power plants continue to be a cause of concern as the final uranium residues are not made safe from radiological and general safety point of view. The deposition of uranium in ponds increases the risk of groundwater getting contaminated as these residues essentially leach through the upper unsaturated geological formation. In this context, a numerical model has been developed in order to forecast the $^{238}U$ and its progenies concentration in an unsaturated soil. The developed numerical model is implemented in a hypothetical uranium tailing pond consisting of sandy soil and silty soil types. The numerical results show that the $^{238}U$ and its progenies are migrating up to the depth of 90 m and 800 m after 10 y in silty and sandy soil, respectively. Essentially, silt may reduce the risk of contamination in the groundwater for longer time span and at the deeper depths. In general, a coupled effect of sorption and hydro-geological parameters (soil type, moisture context and hydraulic conductivity) decides the resultant uranium transport in subsurface environment.

Multiple Sink Nodes to Improve Performance in WSN

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) consist of multiple tiny and power constrained sensors which use radio frequencies to carry out sensing in a designated sensor area. To effectively design and implement reliable WSN, it is critical to consider models, protocols, and algorithms that can optimize energy consumption of all the sensor nodes with optimal amount of packet delivery. It has been observed that deploying a single sink node comes with numerous challenges especially in a situation with high node density and congestion. Sensor nodes close to a single sink node receive more transmission traffic load compared to other sensors, thus causing quick depletion of energy which finally leads to an energy hole and sink hole problems. In this paper, we proposed the use of multiple energy efficient sink nodes with brute force technique under optimized parameters to improve on the number of packets delivered within a given time. Simulation results not only depict that, deploying N sink nodes in a sensor area has a maximum limit to offer a justifiable improvement in terms of packet delivery ratio but also offers a reduction in End to End delay and reliability in case of failure of a single sink node, and an improvement in the network lifetime rather than deploying a single static sink node.

Centralized Clustering Routing Based on Improved Sine Cosine Algorithm and Energy Balance in WSNs

  • Centralized hierarchical routing protocols are often used to solve the problems of uneven energy consumption and short network life in wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Clustering and cluster head election have become the focuses of WSNs. In this paper, an energy balanced clustering routing algorithm optimized by sine cosine algorithm (SCA) is proposed. Firstly, optimal cluster head number per round is determined according to surviving node, and the candidate cluster head set is formed by selecting high-energy node. Secondly, a random population with a certain scale is constructed to represent a group of cluster head selection scheme, and fitness function is designed according to inter-cluster distance. Thirdly, the SCA algorithm is improved by using monotone decreasing convex function, and then a certain number of iterations are carried out to select a group of individuals with the minimum fitness function value. From simulation experiments, the process from the first death node to 80% only needs about 30 rounds. This improved algorithm balances the energy consumption among nodes and avoids premature death of some nodes. And it greatly improves the energy utilization and extends the effective life of the whole network.

A Secure, Hierarchical and Clustered Multipath Routing Protocol for Homogenous Wireless Sensor Networks: Based on the Numerical Taxonomy Technique

  • Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have many potential applications and unique challenges. Some problems of WSNs are: severe resources' constraints, low reliability and fault tolerant, low throughput, low scalability, low Quality of Service (QoS) and insecure operational environments. One significant solution against mentioned problems is hierarchical and clustering-based multipath routing. But, existent algorithms have many weaknesses such as: high overhead, security vulnerabilities, address-centric, low-scalability, permanent usage of optimal paths and severe resources' consumption. As a result, this paper is proposed an energy-aware, congestion-aware, location-based, data-centric, scalable, hierarchical and clustering-based multipath routing algorithm based on Numerical Taxonomy technique for homogenous WSNs. Finally, performance of the proposed algorithm has been compared with performance of LEACH routing algorithm; results of simulations and statistical-mathematical analysis are showing the proposed algorithm has been improved in terms of parameters like balanced resources' consumption such as energy and bandwidth, throughput, reliability and fault tolerant, accuracy, QoS such as average rate of packet delivery and WSNs' lifetime.

  • The development of USN(Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology is creating numerous application areas. Although a network configuration with fixed sensors was the norm in the past, the coexistence of mobile and fixed sensor nodes is a new trend. Fixed sensor networks focused on the energy efficiency of nodes, but the latest studies consider guaranteeing the mobility of nodes and maintaining their connectivity, while remaining energy efficient at the same time. This paper proposes a routing protocol for a mobile ad-hoc sensor network that improves the mobility, connectivity and energy efficiency of nodes while allowing for the management and maintenance of a large number of nodes even in a complex communication environment where mobile and fixed nodes coexist. An algorithm for multi-hop multi-paths, a technique for topology reconfiguration by node movement prediction and vibration sensors, path setting for a large number of nodes, and efficient data transfer technology have been introduced to implement the modified LEAHC-AOMDV protocol. Furthermore, the excellence of this protocol was verified through a comparative experiment with the conventional LEACH protocol.

젖산과 옥살산을 이용한 폐 이차 리튬이온 전지 양극 활물질로부터 희유금속들의 회수 (Recovery of Rare Metals from the Waste Secondary Lithium Ion Battery Cathode Active Materials Using Lactic Acid and Oxalic acid)

  • 젖산을 이용하여 안전하게 양극활물질에 있는 Co, Mn, Ni을 침출할 수 있는 방법을 개발하였다. 양극활물질을 젖산으로 침출 시켰을 때, 젖산의 농도는 1N과 4 N 이상에서 보다는 2 N에서 가장 높은 효율을 보였다. 양극활물질을 단계적으로 젖산 용액에 첨가 하였을 때, 최대 용해도는 2 N의 젖산 용액에서 1 L 당 30 g이었다. 젖산 용액에 옥살산을 첨가하였고 희유금속들은 1 L 당 4 g에서 가장 경제적인 회수율을 보였다. 본 연구를 바탕으로 해서, 양극활물질로부터 희유금속들을 회수하기 위한 최적의 조건은 무게비로 옥살산과 양극활물질이 7 : 1이라는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 첨가하여, 옥살산에 의해서 생성된 침전물은 Co, Ni, Mn 3성분이 결합되어 있는 다핵 결정성 물질이었다.

  • 다른 분율의 Cs이 포함된 Pt/$Cs_xH_{3-x}PW_{12}O_{40}$ 촉매를 제조하여 셀룰로우스의 폴리올로의 수소화분해반응를 수행하였다. 촉매의 비표면적과 Pt의 분산도는 Pt/$Cs_xH_{3-x}PW_{12}O_{40}$ 촉매의 Cs 함량이 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 그러나 Pt/$Cs_xH_{3-x}PW_{12}O_{40}$ 촉매의 Cs의 함량이 변함에도 불구하고 비슷한 폴리올 수득률을 보였다. Pt/$Cs_xH_{3-x}PW_{12}O_{40}$ 촉매의 반응 활성은 Ni/W/SBA-15와 두 가지의 복합촉매(Pt/AC+$H_3PW_{12}O_{40}$과 Pt/AC+$Cs_{3.0}PW_{12}O_{40}$)와 비슷하였다. 이 반응을 진행하는 동안 Pt/$Cs_xH_{3-x}PW_{12}O_{40}$ 촉매로부터 헤테로폴리 음이온이 침출되는 것을 확인하였다.

WSN에서 에너지 효율적인 클러스터링 기법 (An Energy Efficient Clustering Scheme for WSNs)

  • WSN (Wireless sensor network)은 에너지 제한적인 네트워크이기에 노드의 에너지 효율성이 중요한 문제이다. 라운드 단위로 동작하는 클러스터링은 노드의 먼 거리 통신을 피할 수 있기에 네트워크 수명을 증가시키는 효율적인 방법이며 그 성능은 라운드 시간에 좌우된다. 짧은 라운드 시간은 잦은 클러스터 재구성을 발생시키고 반면 긴 라운드 시간은 클러스터 헤드의 에너지 소비를 증가시킨다. 그래서 현존하는 클러스터링 기법들은 네트워크 초기 변수들을 기반으로 적절한 라운드 시간을 결정한다. 하지만 무선 센서 네트워크는 운용 특성 상 노드가 추가될 수도 혹은 사라질 수도 있는 동적인 네트워크이기에 네트워크 전체 수명에 대해 네트워크 구성 초기 파라미터를 계속 적용하는 것은 적절치 못하다. 본 논문에서는 현재 필드에 살아있는 노드의 수를 기반으로 라운드 시간을 계산하는 방법을 제안하여 노드 수가 변화할 수 있는 동적인 네트워크에 적응하도록 하였다. 성능 분석 결과 기존에 비해 노드의 에너지 소비량이 감소하였으며 수신되는 데이터 손실도 감소함을 확인하였다.

  • 무선 캡슐 내시경 (WCE)은 세기 초에 개발 될 수 있는 가장 영향력 있는 바이오 의료 전자 기술 중 하나였다. 기존의 내시경 진단과 비교하여,이 응용 프로그램은 이에 훨씬 더 사용자 친화적인 방식으로 전체 위장관 (GI) 트랙을 검사하기 위한 새로운 대안을 가진 외과 의사를 제공하는 비 침습 및 저 위험이 특징이다. 그 이외에도 일반 하드웨어 업그레이드에서 WCE 연구의 국경은 기본적으로 캡슐의 소형화 및 활성화 운동에 있다. 운동은 일반적으로 자연적인 연동 운동의 함수이다 현재 상용화 WCE 제품의 본질적인 결점을 극복하기 위해, 활성 운동력 효과적으로 다른 장기에 장치를 탐색 대상으로 인간 내 치료 기능을 수행하기 위해 사용되는 전략의 시리즈로서 제안 조직과 연구의 측면에 대한 몇 가지 새로운 디자인의 리뷰는 이 문서에서 논의 될 것이다.
