  • A concrete disign of memory circuit is presented aiming at the application of sliding diagonal test patterns. A modification of sliding diagonal test pattern includes the complexity reduction from O(n$^{32}$) to O(n) using parallel test memory concept. The control circuit design was based on delay-element, and verified via logic and circuit simulation. Area overhead was evaluated based on physical layout using a 0.7 micron design rule resulting in about 1% area increase for a typical 16Mbit DRAM.

  • Statistical analysis menus of MS Excel software, with powerful spreadsheet functions has not been modified since Excel 2000 Edition and its utilization is very low. To improve utilization of Excel menu for statistical analysis, this research compared outputs of Excel statistical menus and computed test statistics, and developed high-level macros. Outputs of Excel menus, both oneway layout and twoway layout, on real data are exactly same as the computed test statistics, and therefore, Excel menus for statistical analysis are reliable. Macros to provide results for Analysis of Variance with a block and multiple comparison of means are developed using Excel functions.

  • n this thesis CAM(content Addressable Memory) generator and graphic display tool for run-plot sequence in automatic generation of CAM are presented. We show that implementing the layout generation, graphic menu, mouse driver, and data structure by using the basic classes is clear and easy in modification than the conventional procedural language. For the implementation of generator which is independent of design rule or process, we use the parameterized cell so that basic cell can be changed according to user's inputs. and perform the layout by means of placement and routing using pitch mathching. Finally, the display of CIF which generated and constitution of graphic menu for total run-plot sequence are explained.

  • In this study, analysis of the disposal tunnel spacing and disposal pit pitch was carried out, as a factor of the design to estimate the scale and layout of the repository. To do this, based on the reference repository concept and the engineered barrier concept, several cross sections of the disposal tunnel and disposal pit were established. After then, the mechanical and thermal stabilities of the established tunnels were analyzed. Also, an optimized disposal tunnel spacing and the disposal pit pitch reducing the excavation volume was proposed. The results of these analyses can be used in the deep geological repository design. The detailed analyses by the exact site characteristics data to reduce the uncertainty of the site and the modification for the optimization are required.

  • When manufacturing die casting mold, generally, the casting layout design should be considered based on the relation among injection system, casting condition, gate system, and cooling system. Also, the extent or the location of product defects was differentiated according to the various relations of the above conditions. In this research, in order to optimize casting design of an automobile part (Gear Box) Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) was performed by using the simulation software (Z Cast). The simulation results were analyzed and compared with experimental results. During the mold filling, internal porosities caused by air entrap were predicted and reduced remarkably by the modification of the gate system and the configuration of overflow. With the solidification analysis, internal porosities caused by the solidification shrinkage were predicted and reduced by the modification of the gate system. For making a better production die casting tool, cooling systems on several thick areas are proposed in order to reduce internal porosities caused by the solidification shrinkage.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest objective basic data for the apartment interior landscape project through the quantitative analysis of the apartment residents' satisfaction on the apartment interior landscape. 1. The major variables related to the interior landscape expert's satisfaction were the interest of the broadcasting of the interior landscape, garden belong to oneself, the intention of the modification of the apartment framework for the interior plantscape, the illumination for the indoor Plants, the season feeling through the int erior plantscape, the psychological effect of the indoor plants, income, the apartment framework and interior plants, the experience and knowledge about the indoor plants, floor space, utilizing veranda as a garden. 2. The major variables related to the general residents' satisfaction included the experience and knowledge on the indoor plants, veranda space, the season feeling through the interior plantscape, the illumination for the interior plants, the interest of the broadcasting of the interior landscape, the intention of the modification of the apartment framework for the interior plantscape. 3. According to the multiple regression analysis, the 'R2'of the major variables related to the experts' satisfaction has been obtained as 75.55%, and that of the varibles related to the general residents' satisfaction, 23.49 %. 4. Such variables as the season feeling through the interior plantscape, the Interest of the broadcasting of the interior landscape, and the intention of the modification of the apartment framework for the interior plantscape for the exports and the general residents are supposed that we develope new interior plants as well as the interior plantscape for the growth of the plants regarding the apartment framework. 5. The interior landscape experts were more positive than the general residents in using the interior landscape materials including indoor plants. 6. The feelings about building layout and the satisfaction in exterior spaces expended the interior landscape, visually, were reasons for the satisfaction of the apartment interior landscape.

  • The purpose of this paper is to present the alignment layout and the way of modifying transition curve for better operation of tilting trains. It is based on data from field investigation of all curves in conventional line. In general, all curves have transition parts in the beginning and end of the main curve in order to improve the passenger's comfort. The speed-up of conventional line may need an extention of transition curves. This paper checked out whether the transition curve should be modified or not and how to lengthen it. Then the maximum train speeds in curve prior to and after the modification of transition curve were evaluated.

  • TMED(Transmission Mounted Electric Device) parallel hybrid configuration can realize EV(Electric Vehicle) mode by disengaging the clutch between an engine and a transmission-mounted motor to improve efficiencies of low load driving and regenerative braking. In the EV mode, however, jerk can be induced since there are insufficient damping elements in the drive-train. Though the jerk gives demoralizing influence upon driving comport, adding a physical damper is not applicable due to constraints of the layout. This study suggests the jerk reduction control, composed of active damping method and torque profiling method, to suppress the jerk without hardware modification. The former method creates a virtual damper by generating absorbing torque in the opposite direction of the oscillation. The latter method reduces impulse on the mated gear teeth of the drive-train by limiting the gradient of traction torque when the direction of the torque is reversed. To validate the effectiveness of the suggested strategy, a series of vehicle tests are carried out and it is observed that the amplitude of the oscillation can be reduced by up to 83%.

  • This research is focused on the experimental study of the noise induced by two-phase refrigerant flow in the evaporator. The two-phase flow in the evaporator has various flow patterns. The effects of two-phase flow pattern's characteristics on the noise of the evaporator are investigated experimentally. The experimental data shows that the generated noise is mainly related to the layout of the pipe and the certain two-phase flow patterns such as the churn and slug flow. Based on these results, we removed the unnecessary vertical pipe and changed the pipe diameter of the evaporator - inlet into small one in order to avoid the intermittent flow condition. The noise level of newly-designed inlet-pipe of the evaporator was measured experimentally by refrigerant-supplying equipment and compared with that of conventional one.

  • The computer-aided performance simulation can reduce periods for development of products and cut down on the cost comparing with former trial-and-error procedures. This study has developed a simulation program for a vehicle thermal management system integrating an engine cooling system and an air conditioning system considering interactions and arrangement of air side heat exchangers such as power steering oil cooler, air-cooled transmission oil cooler, condenser, and radiator. The program may be also used for the system performance analysis according to the configuration of the engine coolant side heat exchangers such as water-cooled transmission oil cooler, EGR cooler, and heater core. Experiments utilizing an environmental wind tunnel has been conducted to assess the performance of the system according to the arrangement of air side heat exchangers. Some modification of the coolant loop layout can enhance the heat core performance up to 7% according to the results of the simulations.
