  • This paper propose skin color detection that uses MLP(Multi Layer Perceptron) and multiple color models. The proposed method reduces weight of MLP by partial connection between input layer and hidden layer based on color models, and the using color models are RGB model and YCbCr model. The experimental result for proposed method showed 94% classification rate of skin and non-skin pixels with 32% decrease in the number of weight compare to general MLP on the average.

  • The characteristics of ad hoc networks, such as the absence of infrastructure, a dynamic topology, a shared wireless medium and a resource-constrained environment pose various security challenges. Most previous studies focused on the detection of misbehavior after it had occurred. However, in this paper we propose a new way of thinking to evade the occurrence of misbehavior. In our scheme, we firstly present a clustering algorithm that employs a powerful analytic hierarchy process methodology to elect a clusterhead for each cluster. The clusterhead in each cluster is then allowed to assign the backoff values to its members, i.e., originators, rather than permitting the originators to choose the backoff values by themselves. Through this media access control layer misbehavior detection mechanism, the misuse of the backoff in the media access control layer in the 802.11 distributed coordination function can be detected.

  • We present a simulation method to design antireflection coating (ARCs) for fiber-coupled superconducting nanowire single-photon detectors. Using a finite-element method, the absorptance of the nanowire is calculated for a defined unit-cell structure consisting of a fiber, ARC layer, nanowire absorber, distributed Bragg reflector (DBR) mirror, and air gap. We develop a method to evaluate the uncertainty in absorptance due to the uncontrollable parameter of air-gap distance. The validity of the simulation method is tested by comparison to an experimental realization for a case of single-layer ARC, which results in good agreement. We show finally a double-layer ARC design optimized for a system detection efficiency of higher than 95%, with a reduced uncertainty due to the air-gap distance.

  • In this paper, we fabricated a biosensor for detecting hydrogen peroxide and investigated the sensing property. We prepared a viologen and hemoglobin modified gold electrode using self-assembly and layer by layer method. The electrochemical property of the viologen derivative was characterized in 0.1 M $NaClO_4$ electrolyte solution by cyclic voltammetry. The modified electrode showed reversible electrochemical properties and high stability. From the results, the viologen can act as a charge transfer mediator for access to the electrode surface. The catalytic characteristics of the designed sensor proved that hemoglobin has been kept in its natural structure and can retain its biological activity. The designed biosensor showed a fast amperometric response, excellent linearity and low detection limit. In addition, it had high sensitivity, good reproducibility and stability.

  • Recent advances in artificial intelligence have allowed for easier sentiment analysis (e.g. positive or negative forecast) of documents such as a finance reports. In this paper, we investigate a method to apply text mining techniques to extract in the financial report using deep learning, and propose an accounting model for the effects of sentiment values in financial information. For sentiment analysis with keyword detection in the financial report, we suggest the input layer with extracted keywords, hidden layers by learned weights, and the output layer in terms of sentiment scores. Our approaches can help more effective strategy for potential investors as a professional guideline using sentiment values.

  • Early detection of cancer biomarkers in the blood is of vital importance for reducing the mortality and morbidity in a number of cancers. From this point of view, immunosensors based on nanowire (NW) and carbon nanotube (CNT) field-effect transistors (FETs) that allow the ultra-sensitive, highly specific, and label-free electrical detection of biomarkers received much attention. Nevertheless 1D nano-FET biosensors showed high performance, several challenges remain to be resolved for the uncomplicated, reproducible, low-cost and high-throughput nanofabrication. Recently, two-dimensional (2D) graphene and reduced GO (RGO) nanosheets or films find widespread applications such as clean energy storage and conversion devices, optical detector, field-effect transistors, electromechanical resonators, and chemical & biological sensors. In particular, the graphene- and RGO-FETs devices are very promising for sensing applications because of advantages including large detection area, low noise level in solution, ease of fabrication, and the high sensitivity to ions and biomolecules comparable to 1D nano-FETs. Even though a limited number of biosensor applications including chemical vapor deposition (CVD) grown graphene film for DNA detection, single-layer graphene for protein detection and single-layer graphene or solution-processed RGO film for cell monitoring have been reported, development of facile fabrication methods and full understanding of sensing mechanism are still lacking. Furthermore, there have been no reports on demonstration of ultrasensitive electrical detection of a cancer biomarker using the graphene- or RGO-FET. Here we describe scalable and facile fabrication of reduced graphene oxide FET (RGO-FET) with the capability of label-free, ultrasensitive electrical detection of a cancer biomarker, prostate specific antigen/${\alpha}$ 1-antichymotrypsin (PSA-ACT) complex, in which the ultrathin RGO channel was formed by a uniform self-assembly of two-dimensional RGO nanosheets, and also we will discuss about the immunosensing mechanism.

  • Polymer composites for measuring the radioactive contamination are prepared by coating ZnS(Ag) powders as a scintillator on polysulfone base layer. The composites consist of the active layer for a scintillation reaction with radioactive wastes and the transparent support layer for transmittance of light photons emitted by scintillation in the active layer. The binding of the active layer, including ZnS(Ag), on the support layer is proceeded via coating with polysulfone as a binder, without any extra adhesive. The coating was obtained by either casting via a Doctor Blade as applicator or screen printing. The prepared composites feature a monolithic structure, resulting in the complete adhesion between two layers. The composite prepared by the casting technique using an applicator holds a good detection efficiency in measuring the alpha radionuclide, but its structure becomes fragile because of warping in morphology. On the contrary, the composite prepared by the screen printing shows a good detection capacity as well as a good stability in a mechanical shape.

  • Conditional sampling techniques are utilized to investigate the relation between the wall skin-friction and stream wise velocity fluctuations in a turbulent boundary layer. Conditionally averaged results using a peak detection and the VITA (variable-interval time-averaging) technique show that a high skin friction is associated with high frequency components of the wall skin-friction fluctuations. The conditionally averaged wall skin-friction fluctuations obtained by using the VITA technique have a positively-skewed characteristics compared with the conditionally averaged stream wise velocity fluctuations. It is confirmed that there exists a phase shift between the wall skin-friction and stream wise velocity fluctuations, which was also found from the long-time averaged space-time correlations. The amount of phase shift between the wall skin-friction and stream wise velocity fluctuations is the same as that from the long-time averaged space-time correlations and does not change despite the variation of the detection threshold.

  • In this paper, we propose a fault detection model based on multi-layer neural network using data mining technique for faults due to boiler tube leakage in a thermal power plant. Major measurement data related to faults are analyzed using statistical methods. Based on the analysis results, the number of input data of the proposed fault detection model is simplified. Then, each input data is clustering with normal data and fault data by applying K-Means algorithm, which is one of the data mining techniques. fault data were trained by the neural network and tested fault detection for boiler tube leakage fault.
