Estimation of Vehicle Driving-Load with Application to Vehicle Intelligent Cruise Control

  • This paper describes a vehicle driving-load estimation method for application to vehicle Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC). Vehicle driving-load consists of aerodynamic force, rolling resistance, and gravitational force due to road slope and is unknown disturbance in a vehicle dynamic model. The vehicle driving-load has been estimated from engine and wheel speed measurements using a vehicle dynamic model a least square method. The estimated driving-load has been used in the adaptation of throttle/brake control law. The performance of the control law has been investigated via both simulation and vehicle tests. The simulation and test results show that the proposed control law can provide satisfactory vehicle-to-vehicle distance control performance for various driving situations.

Asymmetric transient thermal stress of a functionally graded hollow cylinder with piecewise power law

  • This paper is concerned with the theoretical treatment of transient thermoelastic problems involving a functionally graded hollow cylinder with piecewise power law due to asymmetrical heating from its surfaces. The thermal and thermoelastic constants of each layer are expressed as power functions of the radial coordinate, and their values continue on the interfaces. The exact solution for the two-dimensional temperature change in a transient state, and thermoelastic response of a hollow cylinder under the state of plane strain is obtained herein. Some numerical results for the temperature change and the stress distributions are shown in figures. Furthermore, the influence of the functional grading on the thermal stresses is investigated.

In this paper, for array of row negatively associated(NA) random variables, we establish a general weak law of large numbers (WLLA) of the form (${\sum_{\kappa=1}}^n\;a_{\kappa}X_{n\kappa}\;-\;\nu_{n\kappa})\;/b_n$ converges in probability to zero, as $n\;\rightarrow\;\infty$, where {$\nu_{n\kappa}$\mid$1\;\leq\;\kappa\;\leq\;n,\;n\;\geq\;1$} is a suitable array of constants.

A New Approach to Design of a Dynamic Output Feedback Stabilizing Control Law for LTI Systems

  • We present a new state-space approach to construct a dynamic output feedback controller which stabilizes a class of linear time invariant systems. All the states of the given system are not measurable and only the output is used to design the stabilizing control law. In the design scheme, however, we first assume that the given system can be stabilized by a feedback law composed of the output and its derivatives of a certain order. Beginning with this assumption, we systematically construct a dynamic system which removes the need of the derivatives. The main advantage of the proposed controller is regarding the controller order, which may be smaller than that of conventional output feedback controller. Using a simple numerical example, it is shown that the order of the proposed controller is indeed smaller than that of reduced-order observer based output feedback controller.

  • This paper is mainly concerned with the formation of delta standing wave for the scalar conservation law with a linear flux function involving discontinuous coefficients by using the self-similar viscosity vanishing method. More precisely, we use the self-similar viscosity to smooth out the discontinuous coefficient such that the existence of approximate viscous solutions to the delta standing wave for the Riemann problem is established and then the convergence to the delta standing wave solution is also obtained when the viscosity parameter tends to zero. In addition, the Riemann problem is also solved with the standard method and the instability of Riemann solutions with respect to the specific small perturbation of initial data is pointed out in some particular situations.

  • Let {${\Omega}$, F, P} be a probability space and {$X_n{\mid}n{\geq}1$} be a sequence of random variables defined on it. We study the Hajeck-Renyi-type inequality for p..mixing random variable sequences and obtain the strong law of large numbers by using this inequality. We also consider the strong law of large numbers for weighted sums of ${\tilde{\rho}}$-mixing sequences.

  • 1994년 "유엔해양법협약" 의 발효로 새로운 국제해양법제도가 확립되면서 세계 각국은 통일적인 해상집법체제를 구축함으로써 관할해역에 대한 종합적인 관리를 강화하고 있다. 그러나 중국은 아직 전통적인 분산형 산업관리체제를 유지하고 있어 기존의 해상집법역량은 날로 확대되는 국가주권과 해양권익의 수호요구를 충족시키지 못하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 한 중 일 3국의 해상집법체제를 비교 고찰하고 중국해상집법체제의 주요 문제점을 분석한 후, 해경을 중심으로 한 통일적인 해상집법체제의 개선방안을 제시하였다.
