  • This paper describes the possibility of analyzing gait pattern from the variation of the lower leg electrical impedance. This impedance is measured by the four-electrode method. Two current electrodes are applied to the thigh and foot., and two potential electrodes are applied to the lateral aspect, medial aspect, and posterior position of lower leg. We found the optimal electrode position for knee and ankle joint movements based on high correlation coefficient, least interference, and maximum magnitude of impedance change. From such features of the lower leg impedance, it has been made clear that different movement patterns exhibit different impedance patterns and impedance level.

  • Additive manufacturing technology is recognized as an optimal technology for mass-customized distributed production because it can yield products with high design freedom by applying an automated production system. However, the introduction of novel technologies to the additive manufacturing industry is generally delayed, and technology uncertainty has been pointed out as one of the main causes. This paper presents the results of the research and analysis of current standardization trends that are related to additive manufacturing by examining the hierarchical structure of the quality system along with the various industry and evaluation standards. Consequently, it was confirmed that the currently unfolding standardization does not sufficiently reflect the characteristics of additive manufacturing technology, and rather can become a barrier to entry for market participants or an element that suppresses the lateral shearing ability of additive manufacturing technology.

  • This research chose 135 environmental cleaners in Busan Metropolitan City as subjects. First, the reality of wearing their safety jackets was investigated. Next, visual evaluation of the reflexive function of the current safety jackets was made. Then, based on the above results and the subsequent improvement proposal, the final product, the research costume, was made. 1. Based on the investigation of the wearing reality of safety jackets and the visual evaluation results of the reflexive function, an improvement proposal was made. As cleaners are usually seen sidewise on the roads and lateral luminosity is rather low, this aspect was compensated on the part of a jacket. Also, the reflexive belt used the diagram of ${\Delta}$ to improve visual effects. 2. As the lower body held the accident frequency of 45.0%, the sides of pants had the reflexive belt to increase visibility. 3. In consideration of the mutual effects between the background cloth and general reflexive width, the same width (5cm) of the reflexive belt as that of Type A was adopted.

  • An SOI(Silicon-On-Insulator) LD(Lateral Double-diffused)MOS with a recessed source structure is proposed to improve the on-resistance and the breakdown voltage. The recessed source structure can decrease the on-resistance by reducing the path of electron current, also increase the breakdown voltage by extending the effective length of gate field plate. Simulation results by TSUPREM4 and MEDICI have shown that the on-resistance of the LDMOS with a recessed source was 26% lower than conventional LDMOS. The breakdown voltage of proposed device was found to be 45V while that of conventional device was 36.5 V. At the same breakdown voltage of 36.5V, the on-resistance of the LDMOS with a recessed source was 41% lower than that of conventional structure.

  • The gradual hole injection LIGBT (GI-LIGBT) which employs the dual gate and the p+ injector, was fabricated for eliminating a negative resistance regime and reducing a forward voltage drop in SA-LIGBT. The elimination of the negative resistance regime is successfully achieved by initiating the hole injection gradually. Furthermore, the experimental results show that the forward voltage drop of GI-LIGBT decreases by lV at the current density of 200 $A/cm^2$, when compared with that of the conventional SA-LIGBT. It is also found that the improvement in the on-state characteristics can be obtained without sacrificing the inherent fast switching characteristics of SA-LIGBT.

  • In order to investigate the radiation characteristics of unmixed line noise from overhead high voltage AC transmission lines, a gap noise generator was manufactured. Disk size which decides capacitance between the noise generator and earth was selected through preliminary indoor experiments and analysis by charge simulation method. The capacitance is one of principal parameters related to inject a proper noise current into lines. The field experiments were performed with the noise generator installed in Kochang 765 kV full scale test line. As the results, the useful data which can be used to analysis the radiation characteristics of noise from transmission lines was obtained. Those are lateral profiles the directivity of antenna toward lines, frequency spectra and so on.

  • A typical marine platform in the Bay of Campeche is studied from the standpoint of structural reliability, and several characteristics of its deck such as slenderness and diameter/thickness ratios of the legs and actual degree of correlation between some variables are taken into account. The global and local buckling capacities of the deck legs are compared and the correlation coefficient between the critical axial load and the critical moment is assessed in order to validate its influence on the structural reliability. In addition, the influence of the vertical load, and its uncertainty, on the variance of the decks capacity, and latter on, on the platform's failure probability is assessed. The results presented may be used in future studies to further extend and upgrade the first version of the Reference Norm (PEMEX, 2000) and, in the longer term, to improve the current practice in the Design and Requalification of Offshore Marine Platforms in the Bay of Campeche.

  • This paper improves genetic programming (GP) and weight genetic programming (WGP) and proposes soft-computing polynomials (SCP) for accurate prediction and visible polynomials. The proposed genetic programming system (GPS) comprises GP, WGP and SCP. To represent confined compressive strength and strain of circular concrete columns in meaningful representations, this paper conducts sensitivity analysis and applies pruning techniques. Analytical results demonstrate that all proposed models perform well in achieving good accuracy and visible formulas; notably, SCP can model problems in polynomial forms. Finally, concrete compressive strength and lateral steel ratio are identified as important to both confined compressive strength and strain of circular concrete columns. By using the suggested formulas, calculations are more accurate than those of analytical models. Moreover, a formula is applied for confined compressive strength based on current data and achieves accuracy comparable to that of neural networks.

  • Diagnostic evaluation methods frequently adopted in Temporomandibular Balancing Medicine (TBM) are briefly reviewed as to their basic concepts and procedures. TBM diagnostic evaluation methods may be classified into direct and indirect ones. Indirect methods are to observe any change in the manifestations with regard to the (1) posture, (2) pain, (3) muscle strength, and (4) stretching. Direct methods are to evaluate through (1) cervical palpation test, (2) restricted cervical rotation test, and (3) lateral cervical tension test. These methods may provide clinicians valuable information on the current yinyang balance and potential therapeutic factors in relation with the temporomandibular joint, a meridian system, and the whole body.
