사면방재를 위한 무선센서 네트워크 기술연구 (Landslide Detection using Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • Recently, landslides have frequently occurred on natural slopes during periods of intense rainfall. With a rapidly increasing population on or near steep terrain in Korea, landslides have become one of the most significant natural hazards. Thus, it is necessary to protect people from landslides and to minimize the damage of houses, roads and other facilities. To accomplish this goal, many landslide prediction methods have been developed in the world. In this study, a simple landslide prediction system that enables people to escape the endangered area is introduced. The system is focused to debris flows which happen frequently during periods of intense rainfall. The system is based on the wireless sensor network (WSN) that is composed of sensor nodes, gateway, and server system. Sensor nodes comprising a sensing part and a communication part are developed to detect ground movement. Sensing part is designed to measure inclination angle and acceleration accurately, and communication part is deployed with Bluetooth (IEEE 802.15.1) module to transmit the data to the gateway. To verify the feasibility of this landslide prediction system, a series of experimental studies was performed at a small-scale earth slope equipped with an artificial rainfall dropping device. It is found that sensing nodes installed at slope can detect the ground motion when the slope starts to move. It is expected that the landslide prediction system by wireless senor network can provide early warnings when landslides such as debris flow occurs.

Use of Fuzzy Object Concept in GIS-based Spatial Prediction Model for Landslide Hazard Mapping

  • In this paper, we propose spatial prediction model for landslide hazard mapping that can account for the fuzziness of boundaries in thematic maps showing the different environmental impacts, depending on the scales and the resolutions of them. The fuzziness or uncertainty of boundary is represented in favourability function based on fuzzy object concept and the effects of them are quantitatively evaluated with the help of cross validation procedures. To illustrate the proposed schemes, a case study from Boeun, Korea was carried out. As a result, the proposed schemes are helpful to account for intrinsic uncertainties in categorical maps and can be effectively adopted in spatial prediction models for other purposes.

  • 지질재해(산사태)를 분석하기 위한 광역지질재해도가 GIS를 이용하여 작성되었다. 산사태를 일으키는 주요 요소인 지형경사, 파괴사면형태, 공극수압, 토성, 지질, 강우량등이 GIS기법을 이용하여 정량적으로 분석되었으며, 컴퓨터 지도모형연구를 통하여 작성된 최중 지질재해도는 연구지역의 산사태 잠재력과 지면의 안정성을 아주 효과적, 경제적으로 분석할 수 있다. 이러한 GIS MAP들은 대상지역의 지역개발 정책뿐만 아니라 자연재해 예방등에 아주 유용하게 이용될 수 있다. 금번연구를 위하여 사용된 GIS시스템은 ARC/INFO이며, 영상처리를 위하여는 ERDAS가 활용되었다.

Predictive Spatial Data Fusion Using Fuzzy Object Representation and Integration: Application to Landslide Hazard Assessment

  • This paper presents a methodology to account for the partial or gradual changes of environmental phenomena in categorical map information for the fusion/integration of multiple spatial data. The fuzzy set based spatial data fusion scheme is applied in order to account for the fuzziness of boundaries in categorical information showing the partial or gradual environmental impacts. The fuzziness or uncertainty of boundary is represented as two kinds of fuzzy membership functions based on fuzzy object concept and the effects of them are quantitatively evaluated with the help of a cross validation procedure. A case study for landslide hazard assessment demonstrates the better performance of this scheme as compared to traditional crisp boundary representation.

  • The availability of Information Technology in geological and engineering geological fields is rapidly increasing in Korea. Especially GIS-based hazard mapping is the most distinctive part to predict a possibility of landslide occurrence. Integrated expert system for tunnel construction is also practically used to manage investigated or designed data and to predict un-known underground geological condition. Computer-based field data acquisition tools are also one of the typical part using information technology including GIS combined with mobile phone in Geological field.

  • This paper presents the disaster control due to flooding through the case study of Samwhadong, Donghae city, Kangwondo, broken out at 31, August 2002. In order to assess the characteristics of flood damage one must consider social and geological conditions, the factors of flood risk were derived based on GIS. For reduction of flood damage, flood hazard map was prepared for local residents. These information will support refuge activities, it would aid the reduction of flood damage.

산사태 취약지역 지정·관리 제도의 의의와 향후 과제 (Significance and Future Direction for Designation and Management of Landslide-Prone Zones)

  • The legal basis for the systematic prevention and response to landslide hazards, and the rehabilitation of landslide-hit areas, was established through the amendment of the Forest Protection Act in August 2012. The most noticeable amendment to the Act is the inclusion of clauses associated with the designation and management of landslide-prone zones (including debris flow-prone zones). In this paper, we (1) introduce the clauses related to the designation and management of landslide-prone zones that were included in the amended Forest Protection Act, (2) examine their significance by reviewing the present status of related domestic laws and structural countermeasures such as sediment check dams for sediment-related disaster prevention, and (3) suggest the future directions of the procedure for the designation and cancellation of such zones, and their maintenance and institutional aspects. The establishment of an institutional device for the designation and management of landslide-prone zones has great significance in the aspect of (1) the establishment of a comprehensive management and prevention system for potential landslide-prone zones in forested areas where the hazard risk has been poorly recognized as compared with the flood risks in lowlands, and (2) the establishment of the basis for overcoming the limits of structural countermeasures according to limited budgets. To develop the designation and management system for landslide-prone zones, not only must present problems be addressed, but a cooperation system between the administration and local residents must also be established.

GIS기반 지반재해위험지도의 현장 적용성 평가 (The in-situ Assessment of GIS-Based Geotechnical Hazard Map)

  • 최근 기후변화에 따른 집중호우 발생으로 급경사지 붕괴가 빈번히 발생하고 있으며, 이로 인한 재산 및 인명피해 발생으로 급경사지에 대한 관심이 급증하고 있다. 따라서 소방방재청에서는 급경사지 붕괴위험지구를 지정하여 예방사업을 추진하고 있지만, 과학적이고 합리적인 급경사지 예방정책을 마련하기 위한 지반재해위험지도를 제작 중에 있다. 본 연구를 통해서 서울시 부산시의 최근 4년간(2009~2012) 급경사지 피해사례를 조사 정리하여 지반재해위험지도의 적용성을 평가하였으며, 서울시 부산시 내 테스트베드 지역을 선정하여 관계 전문가들과 함께 현장 적용성 평가를 수행하였다. 연구 결과 지반재해위험지도의 위험등급은 실제 현장평가를 통해 확인한 위험등급과 같거나 높게 분석되는 것으로 확인되었다. 따라서 지반재해위험지도를 활용하여 재해위험 예비지구를 선정하고 전문가의 현장검증 및 평가를 통해 위험지구를 최종 선정하는 등 재해위험지구대상을 예비평가 할 수 있는 자료로서 활용도가 높을 것으로 판단된다.

A Comparative Assessment of the Efficacy of Frequency Ratio, Statistical Index, Weight of Evidence, Certainty Factor, and Index of Entropy in Landslide Susceptibility Mapping

  • The rapid climatic changes being caused by global warming are resulting in abnormal weather conditions worldwide, which in some regions have increased the frequency of landslides. This study was aimed to analyze and compare the landslide susceptibility using the Frequency Ratio (FR), Statistical Index, Weight of Evidence, Certainty Factor, and Index of Entropy (IoE) at Woomyeon Mountain in South Korea. Through the construction of a landslide inventory map, 164 landslide locations in total were found, of which 50 (30%) were reserved to validate the model after 114 (70%) had been chosen at random for model training. The sixteen landslide conditioning factors related to topography, hydrology, pedology, and forestry factors were considered. The results were evaluated and compared using relative operating characteristic curve and the statistical indexes. From the analysis, it was shown that the FR and IoE models were better than the other models. The FR model, with a prediction rate of 0.805, performed slightly better than the IoE model with a prediction rate of 0.798. These models had the same sensitivity values of 0.940. The IoE model gave a specific value of 0.329 and an accuracy value of 0.710, which outperforms the FR model which gave 0.276 and 0.680, respectively, to predict the spatial landslide in the study area. The generated landslide susceptibility maps can be useful for disaster and land use planning.

유역 내에서의 산사태에 의한 토사발생특성 분석 2. 강우사상별 분석 (Analysis on Characteristics of Sediment Produce by Landslide in a Basin 2. Rainfall Event-based Analysis)

  • 본 연구에서는 강우에 기인하는 산사태에 의한 토사발생특성을 분석하였다. 이를 위해 1차원 불포화 지하수해석을 수행하여 강우에 따른 토양수분의 거동을 추정하였으며, 무한사면해석법을 이용하여 토양수분상태에 따른 유역단위 사면안정해석을 수행하였다. 이 때, 산사태의 발생 및 파괴깊이에 영향을 주는 토양심 및 여러 식생인자들을 고려하였다. 강우사상의 특성에 따른 토사발생특성 분석 결과, 산사태에 의한 토사의 발생에는 강우강도와 강우의 시간적 군집상태가 결정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 극치강우에 의한 유역 내 토사발생특성 분석결과, 태풍 '루사' 시의 잔여강우량이 다른 극치사상들에 비하여 매우 크게 나타났으며, 이러한 잔여강우량이 발생된 토사의 운송에 기여하였을 것으로 파악되었다. 아울러, 소수의 극치강우에 의하여 발생한 토사량이 유역 내 전체 토사발생량의 많은 부분을 차지함을 알 수 있었다.
