The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of acanthoic acid on liver injury induced by either tertiary-butyl hydroperoxide (tBH) or carbon tetrachloride in vitro and in vivo. Acanthoic acid, (-)-pimara-9(11),15-diene-19-oic acid, is a diterpene isolated from the root bark of Acanthopanax koreanum. In in vitro study, the cellular leakage of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) with 1.5 mM tBH for 1 j, were significantly inhibited by treatment with acanthoic acid(25 and 5mg/mL). (omitted)

The aim of this study was to investigate the problem areas in the current clinical training of biomedical laboratory science education which may guide the development of an effective strategy for managing clinical training for biomedical laboratory science students. A self-reporting questionnaire was developed by the researchers. This survey was conducted between May 1st and May 15st in 2009 and 92 questionnaires were collected from senior biomedical laboratory science students. In Analyzing data, chi-square test was used for categorical variables. 82.6% of respondents was satisfied with conditions of the training institutes. 30~40% of the respondents reported that they were not satisfied with the programs and supervision systems for training students even though the staff members of other disciplines were supportive in general. Although 83.7% of the respondents reported that they were obtaining information and knowledge for their professional carrier through the training, 70.7% of the respondents reported that they had negative experiences during the training. According to the result of the survey, it can be inferred that the structure of the training education needs to be more systematically organized in order to train the well prepared entry-level biomedical laboratory scientists.

The aim of this study undertook to ascertain the health levels and risk among petty merchants at some traditional markets by way of physical examination and laboratory tests. Data was collected through physical examination and laboratory tests on blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and HDL cholesterol. The data was analyzed by Frequency analysis, T-test, One-Way ANOVA using the PASW statistics 18.0 program. By blood pressure on sex, male ($1.89{\pm}0.6$), female ($1.48{\pm}0.6$) appeared (p<0.001). Male levels were higher than in female levels. Additionally TG appeared male levels ($193.4{\pm}129.4$), female levels ($142.7{\pm}80.6$). Male levels were higher than in female levels (p<0.006). By blood pressure as the age increased in more than 70 (2.17) exhibited a statistically significant difference. These merchants did not practice health behaviors nor take institutional health management benefit. Therefore governmental level community based health management services are recommended for them.

Various diseases of the orofacial region that are treated in the field of oral medicine not only are associated with local factors but may also be affected by systemic factors. Knowledge about laboratory medicine is needed to identify the systemic factors that can influence these diseases. Therefore, oral medicine specialists should be able to use diagnostic tests of laboratory medicine and interpret the results in diagnosing and treating diseases in the field of oral medicine. The aim of this article is to examine the diagnostic tests used in laboratory medicine that might be applied to assess the systemic aspect of diseases in the field of oral medicine and to interpret the significance of the findings.

A virtual laboratory for measurement and instrumentation must aim to realize an integrated environment. To achieve this goal, we designed and implemented a client/server distributed environment and developed a web-based virtual laboratory system for electronic circuits. Since our virtual laboratory system is implemented to describe the on-campus laboratory, the learners can obtain similar experimental data through it. The proposed virtual laboratory system is composed of four important components Principle Classroom, Virtual Experiment Classroom, Evaluation Classroom and Overall Management System. Through our virtual laboratory, the learners will be capable of teaming the concepts and theories related to electronic circuit experiments and how to operate the experimental equipments such as multimeters, function generators, digital oscilloscopes and DC power supplies. Also, every activity occurred in our virtual laboratory is recorded on database and Printed out on the preliminary report form. All of these can be achieved by the aid of the Management System. The database connectivity is made by PHP and the virtual laboratory environment is set up slightly differently for each learner. Finally, we have obtained several affirmative effects such as reducing the total experimental hours and the damage rate for experimental equipments and increasing Loaming efficiencies as well as faculty productivity.

In the present study, laboratory pull-out tests with screw anchors are carried out to investigate behavior characteristics of underground structures applied uplift seepage forces. Small scaled pull-out tests in sand were conducted under saturated condition. And then, it was observed that the upward displacement as well as the pullout load varied with spacing of the anchor. Also, analyses have been performed with the aim of pointing out the effects of various parameters on the group effect of the screw anchors.

In this paper a detailed description of collecting Korean audio-video speech data is presented. The main aim of this experiment is to collect some audio-video materials which can be used for later experiments to estimate and model the actions of the visible human articulatory organs such as mouth, lips and jaw. We collect audio-video data from seven directions separately. Twelve markers are used to trace the movements.

The aim of this paper is to describe the current state of convergence of different kinds of networks in the home environment. In such a realm the 1394IEEE Protocol displays itself as the best player between other different technologies. A description of this high-speed protocol is provided. Finally, in this paper we suggest a prototype for multichannel audio distribution using IEEE 1394 and describe the development of the prototype elements.

The aim of this paper is two-fold. First, we study the Chinea-Gonzalez class C₁₂ of almost contact metric manifolds and we discuss some fundamental properties. We show there is a one-to-one correspondence between C₁₂ and Kählerian structures. Secondly, we give some basic results for Riemannian curvature tensor of C₁₂-manifolds and then establish equivalent relations among 𝜑-sectional curvature. Concrete examples are given.

In this article we investigate the transfer of multiplication-like properties to homomorphic images, direct products and amalgamated duplication of a ring along an ideal. Our aim is to provide examples of new classes of commutative rings satisfying the above-mentioned properties.
