Toward the Future of Mechanized Construction Introduction and Future Prospects of Mechanized Constructions Using Digital Information

  • In Japan, the population progresses to the extreme aging society and it is entering the phase of the population decrease while the population increase is continuing in the world. The construction market is expected to shrink accordingly, however the situation of labor shortage is expected to continue at a faster rate, because the aging of construction workers is progressing and new younger labor force cannot be secured. In order to supplement the labor shortage, it is required to progress mechanization, automation, labor saving, and efficiency improvement by utilizing the information well in each stage in a series of flow of planning, design, construction, operation, and disassembly in one building. The measures to maintain and expand the construction market by the new efficiency improvement techniques which enhance the utilization degree of building information are required. Currently, the elemental technologies which utilized BIM (Building Information Modeling) are accumulated by advancing digitization in each phase. DX (Digital transformation) in the construction industry can be achieved by the technology maturing and having a series of continuities. It is anticipated that this will evolve to a new method which is unprecedented. Present status of BIM and mechanized constructions in Taisei Construction are introduced, and future prospect is described.

  • In this paper we study consumption-labor supply decision of an agent who prepares for retirement at a known time in the future. The agent is assumed to have a preference which is represented by the von Neumann-Morgenstern utility function in which the felicity function has constant relative risk aversion over the composite of consumption and leisure. The composite is obtained by the Cobb-Douglas function. A general problem has been studied by Bodie et al. (2004). We contribute to the literature by deriving the Slutsky equations and conducting comparative statics. In particular, we show that wealth effect can exhibit an interesting property depending upon the time until retirement, as the interest rate increases.

정수계획법을 이용한 외식인력 스케줄링 (Personnel Scheduling of Restaurant using Integer Programming)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate an efficient use of labor in personnel scheduling for the restaurant industry. More specifically, this study attends to reduce overall labor cost while not sacrificing both full-time and part-time employees' schedules. The customers' demands were measured by sales in this analysis. Historically, server scheduling in the restaurant has been practiced by manager's experience and intuition; however, those practices provided drawbacks because managers often fail to consider external factors such as a employees' working conditions and change in a restaurant's size. The result of a new method in personnel scheduling provided significant cost saving compared to a previous scheduling technique. This study found that a new method in personnel scheduling allowed the restaurant to save labor cost. The outcome of this study should of for important strategic implication for the restaurant managers.

버어리종 잎담배 대말림시 수평대걸기에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Horizontal Hanging Method in Burley Tobacco Stalk-curing)

  • This study was carried out to develop a new stalk curing of the horizontal hanging method that would reduce the harvesting and curing labor, and improve its quality of cured leaf than the conventional stalk curing method in burley tobacco. The horizontal hanging stalk-curing method designed from 1988 was compared with the conventional method. The horizontal method shortened the curing Period for 7 days and reduced to 0.3%, while it occurred 9.4% in the vertical method. In the horizontal method, the quality of cured leaf improved 9%, but the contents of chemical components and physical properties were similar to those of vertical method. The labor of stalk-cut and loading in curing facility reduced 28% by the horizontal method. In harvesting and curing process, the horizontal method resulted 12% of labor saving as compared with the vertical method. Comparison of Nitrogen Application Methods at the 4th Leaf Stage in Direct-Seeded Rice Field

  • Two methods of nitrogen application at the 4th leaf stage were evaluated in direct-seeding rice cultivation on dry paddy soil: one was the top dressing of nitrogen on dry paddy condition before irrigation (TNDP) for labor saving, and the other was the top dressing of nitrogen on dry paddy with mechanical rotavation of the inter-row space (TNDPIR) for increasing the efficiency of nitrogen. To evaluate these two application methods, leaf chlorophyll contents, growth characteristics and yields were compared with two conventional methods, basal application (BA) and top dressing on flooded paddy condition at the 4th leaf stage (TNFP). The SPAD value of rice in TNDP was similar with that in TNFP throughout the whole growth stage of rice. Also, there were no differences in rice growth and yield between the two methods. However, in TNDPIR, the SPAD value was the highest during tillering stage among the four application methods, and the tiller number, LAI at heading stage and the panicle number were higher than the two conventional methods.

Relationship Between Farm Land Structure and Machine Operation in Korea

  • The shortage of agricultural labour due to industrial growth has greatly induced the mechanization in Korean agriculture. However small and scattered land holdings have been the main constraints in the process of mechanization. This paper describes the interrelationships of farm land structure, machinery selection and machinery operation areas. The sandy silt loam irrigated paddy land having single crop a year was selected as a target areas for this study. Machine operation cost is greatly influenced by operation period, plot geometry and operation area. On the improved geometry plots, optimal machine size increases slowly with increase in operation area. Operable area increases due to increased effective machine capacity on better geometry plot. The difference between the effects of operation period and plot geometry is that in the former case, the cost reduction is caused by delay in increase of machine size, whereas in the latter case timeliness cost is reduced by increase ffective capacity. The effect of farmland consolidation is greater on small plots than that on big plots. Increasing wage rates have induced the adoption of more labor saving machinery. Bigger labor saving machines require enlargement of operation area and larger plots through improvement in farm land structure. Machine cost on poor plot geometry increases more rapidly than that on the good plot geometry and as operation area increases machine cost reduces significantly. It is concluded that the development of agricultural mechanization ion Korea will depend on the improvement in farm land structure and enlargement of operation area.

당근 펠렛종자의 파종효율과 유묘출현에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Seed Pelleting on the Precision Planting and Seedling Emergence of Carrot Seeds)

  • 펠렛종자를 점파용 파종기로 이용하여 기계화 정밀파종 함으로써 나종자를 손 작업에 의존하여 파종하는 것보다 파종시간과 솎음시간을 각각 225시간 및 460시간 절감할 수 있었고, 종자량도 72% 절감 할 수 있었다. 인력에 의한 손 파종은 파종과 솎음작업에 1 ha당 720시간이 소요되었으나, 펠렛종자를 이용한 기계화 파종은 35시간에 불과하였다. 따라서 펠렛종자를 기계화 파종함으로써 나종자를 인력에 의존하여 파종하는 관행방법에 비해 파종과 솎음작업의 생력효과를 95% 이상 높일 수 있었다. 펠렛종자의 묘출현율은 무처리 종자보다 출현율이 8% 정도 낮았고 출현속도도 약 1.9일 정도 지연되었으나 35일 경과된 유묘의 초기생육에는 큰 차이가 없었다. 유묘출현 반응은 품종에 따라 약간의 차이는 있으나, 펠렛종자는 나종자나 SMP 처리종자에 비해 출현율이 저하되었고 출현속도도 늦었다. 그러나 SMP 처리하여 종자활력을 증진시킨 후 펠렛하면 출현율도 향상되었고, 묘출현속도도 1일 정도 빨랐다.
