  • The purpose of this study was to examine the developmental trajectories of adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors. The data came from 3,188 middle school students through their participation in the Korea Youth Panel Survey(KYPS). Adolescents with a high level of internalizing problem behaviors in the first year showed a rapid decline in these behaviors over time, whereas for adolescents with a low level of these behaviors in the first year the decline was slow. The predictors of the developmental trajectories were related to individual variables, such as gender, self-esteem, self-control, stress, self-stigmatization, and academic achievement. The developmental trajectories of adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors were classified into four groups. The predictors of the patterns of developmental trajectories in adolescents' internalizing problem behaviors appeared to be related to individual variables.

For these reasons, the purpose of this study was to analyze the determinants of welfare services utilization by the single and the married couples elderly. Their analyses were composed of a cross-tabulations and t-test, analysis of variance, duncan test, multiple regression analysis using 5'th Wave Korea Welfare Panel(2010). Data were collected from a survey of 2,716. The results showed that the elderly single women had the lowest level of income and health, the elderly single men needed the help about the emotional support for improvement of family and social relations. • The study looked into the effect of housing poverty on the depression level for the elderly in depth. In this study, we defined housing poverty as sub-minimum standard housing conditions, excess housing expenditure and housing instability. In order to verify the correlation of two variables, a mediating model structured by social welfare service was used which gave out the 4th Korea welfare panel data. When it came to our research methods, structured equation analysis was applied to verify the mediating effect and theoretical background. The results revealed that housing poverty of the elderly directly affected their depression level. Also the satisfaction of social service showed a partial mediating effect between housing poverty and depression level. But the mediating effect of social service experience between housing poverty and depression level was not statistically significant. The outcome of this study indicated the practical and social intervention to promote a mental health of the elderly by improving residential environment.

  • This study simulates the effects of basic income on income redistribution in Korea, and compares the redistribution effects of basic income models with the effect of the current welfare system. Using the Korea Welfare Panel Study(2008), absolute/relative poverty rate, poverty gap ratio, gini coefficients are measured. As a result of simulation, the basic income models reduced poverty more effectively than the current system. And among the three basic income models, the basic income model combined with flat-rate tax reduced poverty more effectively. And the basic income model combined with progressive tax reduced inequality more effectively. The results of the study reported in this paper confirm the paradox of redistribution which suggest that the effect of universal welfare program on redistribution is the most noticeable.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between partner violence and depression in the elderly. This secondary analysis study used the data from 2015 Korean Welfare Panel Study. A total of 2,819 older adults who completed the survey about demographic characteristics, health-related characteristics, satisfaction in the relationship with children, satisfaction in social relationship, partner violence, and depression. Data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0 by using descriptive analyses, independent t-tests, $x^2$-tests, bivariate logistic regressions, and hierarchical logistic regressions. In the results of hierarchical logistic regressions, after controlled demographic and health related characteristics, satisfaction in the relationship with children, and satisfaction in social relationship, partner violence was significantly associated with depression in both male and female older people. In conclusion, it is important to make a prevention program to reduce partner violence and depression for not only female but also male older adults.

  • This longitudinal study investigated the mediating effects of self-control and self-esteem on the associations between parenting behaviors and middle school students' externalizing problems in single parent families. Participants were 174(2003-2004 panel 1 data of Korea Youth Panel Survey). The results of structural equation modeling indicated that self-control and self esteem did not mediate the associations between time 1 parenting behaviors and time 2 middle school students' externalizing problems, after accounting for the effects of time 1 middle school students' externalizing problems.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the bilateral and autoregressive relationships of corporate social performance and corporate financial performance by using dynamic panel model based on fixed effect analysis method. To satisfy this study purpose, 6 years data (2008-2013) of top 1,000 corporations in Korea was collected and finally 430 corporations were used for dynamic panel analysis. The main results were as follows. First, the preceding financial performance explains the following corporate social performance in positive direction. Second, the preceding corporate social performance does not explain the following financial performance. Third, the preceding corporate social performance explains the following corporate social performance in positive direction. Fourth, the preceding financial performance explains the following financial performance in positive direction. This result shows that slack resources theory is supported and good management theory is not supported. In addition, there is a significant relationship between the preceding corporate social performance and the following corporate social performance. Lastly, this study broadens and deepens previous understanding on corporate social philanthropy and discusses theoretical meanings and implications for future study.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore factors influencing the poverty of the elderly in Korea. In spite the fact that poverty of the elderly is more serious than any other demographic group, this important issue is rarely studied. Using the 7-year accumulated data from the KLIPS(Korean Labor and Income Study), I combined the work history of the elders, their demographic characteristics and residence to estimate pooled data analysis of the elderly after reaching age 55 and who are also only living by themselves(only the elders). The results of this study are as followed: first of all, age, education, marital status, wealth, residence and work history are shown to be significant predictors for the poverty of elderly. Second, the results show that factors influencing the poverty is different depending on the elder's (demographic) characteristics. For example, age and marital status is a more important predictor in female than in male, and wealth and health status is a more important predictor in elders who do not have a spouse than in elders who do. Such results suggest that the policy of the poverty of the elderly which is only focused on elder's characteristic is limited. Therefore we can suggest that a policy which workable people can earn decent income and saving wealth for their elderly in job is needed. Especially, policies on the 'Working Poor' and reconstruct the current public pension system is very much needed.

  • This study is aimed to test the moderating effects of social support networks of parents and children on the relationships between poverty, marital discord, and child abuse. This study utilized the first wave of the Korea Welfare Panel Study, conducted in 2006. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the effects of poverty, marital discord, and social support networks of parents and children on child abuse. The results show that poverty and marital discord have positive(+) effects on child abuse and that social support networks of parents and children have negative (-) effects on child abuse. This study also tested the moderating effects of social support networks of parents and children on the relationships between poverty, marital discord, and child abuse. The results confirm that social support networks of both parents and children can moderate the effects of poverty and marital discord on child abuse. That is, when the level of social support networks of parents and children are high, the influences of poverty and marital discord on child abuse becomes smaller or insignificant. Implications of study findings, which includes child protection strategies through improvements in supports for parents and their children are discussed.
