Adaptation of Cross-Cultural Communication in Jakarta Multinational Companies

  • Purpose: This study aims to explore the experience of cross-cultural communication adaptation between local and expatriate employees at PT. XX Organizational culture in the company is the most important factor to helpemployees in the company to work efficiently and effectively in order to achieve company goals. Research design, data and methodology: The analysis methods used in this research are data reduction, data presentation, and drawing a conclusion. From this collaboration, the cultural adaptations arouse due to the challenges for workers who have to work together with different cultural backgrounds. The method used is qualitative with a case study approach. Data collection methods used is employee interviews at PT. XX with triangulation conducted on 2 expatriates and 2 local employees. Results: Studies show that successful management is highly dependent on employees adapting to local culture and work situations. This process rarely runs smoothly because the persons in intercultural interaction do not use the same language and the lack of adaptation.. Conclusions: . In order to maintain its existence, the company strives to expand its wings in the global market and establish partnerships to expand cooperation. PT.   • The purpose of this study is to investigate whether the plan reflecting the place in cultural regeneration was implemented and whether it was a change of place in culture through culture analyze. Mullae-dong has changed its urban structure into a textile factory, a manufacturing industry, an ironworks+artistic complex, and the Mullae art factory has been organizing a festival that has been created by artists and residents alike in the Mullae creative village. However, prior to the creation of the Mullae art factory in the social element, self-sustaining programs of Mullae creative villages were derived, but now commercial space is mainly derived. Therefore, it is necessary to plan for coexistence of ironworks, cultural space and commercial space rather than expanding into commercial space. Geumcheon-gu Geumcheon-gu Geumcheon Art Factory has become an integrated complex where various industries coexist in industrial complex. Geumcheon Art Factory also holds an artist support program every year and actively works as an international creative exchange center in Seoul. However, programs that act as a mediator are not implemented since 2014, and the Open Studio stops once a year. Therefore, Geumcheon-gu needs to expand programs that can include local programs and programs that can be combined with local cultural media.

A study of rural-mini libraries under the Japanese occupation (일제시대 농촌문고에 관한 연구)

  • The colony education policy of Japanese Empire was, as a su n.0, ppression on national salvation education of Korean, on the one hand it was liquidation of Korean national spirit and other hand, it has the object to Japanizing Koreans through cramming Japanese language and its culture. During the Japanse occupation of Korea, the libraries had two roles, one was to press Korean and its culture and the other was to civilize Koreans for Japanizing. The purpose of this study is to examine the role of rural-mini libraries whether the former or the latter. From 1932 to The Chosun Governor- General Department (Chosun Chongdokboo) actively spread 'The Movement of Rural Development in Korea. At the same time there were many rural -mini libraries in Korean rural and fishing community. Under the colony of Japanese Empire, colony policy was itself very tough that Japanese Empire did their utmost ideas to win Korean culture over and Japanzing Korean with every possible pressures. Since rural-mini libraries were planned by the chosun Governor-General Department, however, were established by Korean themselves with the property of local education center( Hyanggyo). Therefore, rural-mini libraries were as facilities to promote rural economic development for providing Japanese with some materials which need to conduct a war, and to introduce local people to participate in civilizing activity themselves and farmers and fishermen were forced to group to be educated in Japanese language and its reading. Rural-mini libraries were, as it were, not as facilities for enlightening Korean peoples but as facilities for civilizing Koreans.

The Effects of Korean and Family Life Education for Female Marriage Immigrant (결혼이민자를 위한 한국어와 가정생활교육효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore how married female immigrants adjust to their lives in Korea. A total of 15 women from three different countries participated in the study. The major issues that these women faced included communication breakdowns with their husband and other family members, financial problems as well as problems with raising children in a different culture. The findings showed that such problems were usually rooted in a lack of Korean cultural knowledge and skills. Additionally, the inaccurate use of the language by married female immigrants who have lived in Korea for longer than six months was often fossilized. For instance, because they usually learned the language in a local dialect, it took them longer to distinguish the dialect from standard Korean. The results found that married female immigrants who received both Korean lessons and family life education instructions overcame their culture shock and adapted to Korean culture more easily than those who did not receive such instructions.

  • As the travel industry grows and becomes increasingly more competitive, municipal governments have undertaken great efforts to maximize limited resources and develop their local economies by initiating and developing cultural festivals. Such festivals and events have become an efficient mechanism to enhance their image, increase tourism, and ultimately, stimulate their economy. However, marketing efforts to scale globally typically falter due to various factors: lack of originality, poor quality of contents, and a scarcity of competitive power. Hence, I wish to propose a model for developing cultural semiology and visual literacy, with storytelling utilized as a means of strategically illustrating local cultural festival contents. Subsequently, it is expected that such a model can underpin the importance of developing coherent edutainment content while illustrating the true meaning/value of local festivals.

  • As the importance of Culture Technology (music, publication, mobile, film, video, cartoon, animation, character, game, broadcasting etc) is increased, the field of character industry recently has been recognized as an independent brand value beyond the existing view point of simple designing; it also has been given much attention as a main axis leading the cultural industry of the 21 st century. The character of a local government plays roles such as a symbolic part of a region, parts of tourism and public relations, and a profit-making function, which results into generation of regional image and activation of regional economy. However, the present application strategy of the character is only limited to an early stage of regional advertisements. In this context, this study is aimed to investigate and analyze the character development of local governments, especially 31 cities and goons of Gyeonggi Province, comparing with those of local governments of Japan. In the long run, this will provide some suggestions for strategy of character applications. Then, this research is expected to be used as basic reference materials for character development of other local governments and government agencies.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine changes in local government objectives due to the change of local government heads in Hwasun-gun of Jeonnam province, and to analyze performances of regional development policies, regional development vision, and local government objectives setting by the 6th local election. The local government objective and slogan of hwasun-gun continued to change due to frequent replacement of local government heads from 1st to 6th local election. The slogan of the 6th local election was set as 'Luxury Hwasun, Happy Citizens' and addition, six local government objectives were set: trusted administration, shared welfare, attractive culture, vibrant rural areas, dream-planting education, and vibrant economies. The performance of local government objectives of the 6th local election showed a 90% achievement rate compared to the planned goal.

  • Based on the characteristics of cultural expressions, this paper compares and analyzes the cases of representative commercial architectural spaces of six largest cities in China.In order to promoting the sustainable development of the indoor space culture of modern commercial buildings in China.Six cases were analyzed from the viewpoints of cultural tradition, locality, popularity, technology, and ecology. The results are as follows. First, the tradition of culture requires the emphasis on the traditional elements of specific areas in the interior space of commercial architecture.Second, the regional character of culture is closely related to the social and natural environment factors such as the economic development of the interior space of commercial architecture, historical intrinsic space, geographical environmental conditions, and climate.Fourth, the technicality of culture is to integrate construction method, structure form, and material with local culture into commercial architecture interior space.Fifth, cultural ecology places attention to placing plants in the interior space of commercial architecture and creating a healthy, pleasant and safe environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the program of traditional living culture for people to sustain viable rural community in Korea. The study was conducted by literature review, survey, interview, and delphi method. The results of this study were as follows; First, the program was developed to response to educational roles and functions. Second, the program was developed to utilize elder people for viable community as programs practitioners. Third, the factors of traditional cultural program for endogenous development were human resources, community organization and community participation, and natural and cultural resources. Forth, the program was developed to view the community resources as a systems because the culture was communicated through relationship rather than heritage. The re-valorization of cultural resources by the programs will provide local people with strategic capacity for endogenous development and for the harnessing of extra-focal forces in a market economy.
