Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Cloud computing providers have setup several data centers at different geographical locations over the Internet in order to optimally serve needs of their customers around the world. One of the fundamental challenges in geographically distributed clouds is to provide efficient algorithms for supporting inter-cloud data management and dissemination. In this paper, we propose a group quorum system (GQS)-based dissemination for improving the interoperability of inter-cloud in time-critical event dissemination service, such as computing policy updating, message sharing, event notification and so forth. The proposed GQS-based method organizes these distributed clouds into a group quorum ring overlay to support a constant event dissemination latency. Our numerical results show that the GQS-based method improves the efficiency as compared with Chord-based and Plume methods.

e-Learning has brought dramatic changes in education system for many companies in Korea. Many researchers and practitioners believe that e-Learning will be the main educational system for every companies in the world. e-Learning is an alternative education system, which includes computer based learning, web based learning, virtual classroom, and distance learning. e-learning has been expected to impact every educational sectors including Extension services. This study intends to identify and suggest some implications for successful e-Learning implementation of Extension education by investigating the successful factors of enterprises' e-Learning system, where outstanding results have be shown.
As information resources have become more various and the number of the resources has increased, knowledge customization on the social web has been becoming more difficult. To reduce the burden, we offer a framework for context-based similarity calculation for knowledge customization using ontology on the CBR. Thereby, we newly developed context- and intensity-based similarity calculation methods which are applied to extraction of the most similar case considered semantic similarity and syntactic, and effective creation of the user-tailored knowledge using the selected case. The process is comprised of conversion of unstructured web information into cases, extraction of an appropriate case according to the user requirements, and customization of the knowledge using the selected case. In the experimental section, the effectiveness of the developed similarity methods are compared with other edge-counting similarity methods using two classes which are compared with each other. It shows that our framework leads higher similarity values for conceptually close classes compared with other methods.
Public institutions and governments develop discussions on the premise that they can facilitate smooth public communication with the socially vulnerable by promoting citizens' welfare by providing voice-based service chatbots to citizens. The purpose of the study is to propose a plan for intelligent governments to provide quick and efficient administrative services by efficiently managing knowledge and information within and outside government organizations based on ICT and facilitating access and use of information for citizens, especially vulnerable groups. This paper confirms that citizens' attitudes, perceptions, and expectations for public institutions ahead of voice-based service provision are positive through small surveys and interviews with experts with knowledge of artificial intelligence, discuss the technical aspects of voice-based services, the significance and necessity of public institutions. In addition, the government and public institutions are considering the implications of using and providing voice-based services. As a result, chatbot's voice-based service is of great significance in providing an opportunity and platform for wider citizens to participate in intelligent government, to strengthen information accessibility, guarantee and strengthen human rights and basic rights of the socially vulnerable.
The goal of this study was to estimate the knowledge on the patient about treating and attitude about their right to know and how they practice. That is the study seek to find how much they claim about their right to know and how they evaluate it. Additionally describe how much the patient carry on their right to know and find out that of each level's associations. This main Purpose of the study was to increase patient's right to know during in medical services. Socio-demographic variables, personal service variables and other used variables which levels of consumers knowledge, demand, evaluation and about right to know on practice level were analyzed statistically. For this purpose, the subjects of this study were consumers who had experienced medical services. The survey was conducted on 551 Korean aged in off-line by self-administered questionnaires. Final analyzed sample sizes are 551. The regression, ANOVA, t-test and other descriptive analyses were used. The obtained results were as When the consumers were estimated the level of Knowledge, the degree of respondent's level was middle state. The level of demand showed low tendency but their practice level was relatively high. On the other hand, consumer's demand for the patient's right to know was very high. The level of knowledge, demand, evaluation have affected positively to the level of consumers practices. Based on empirical research, the statistics of consumers' knowledge level was significant to other variables and effecting highly. It was recommended consumer education should be provided effectively to increase protecting their right.
Background: Our objective was to determine the knowledge and attitudes of Thai generalists (general physicians) toward palliative terminal cancer care (PC) in a primary care setting. Materials and Methods: We performed a cross-sectional descriptive survey using a self-administered questionnaire. The total number of completed and returned questionnaires was 63, giving a 56% response rate. Data analysis was based on these (Cronbach's alpha=0.82) and percentages and mean values were assessed using the Fisher's exact test to determine the correlation of variables. Results: Overall, attitude and knowledge levels were slightly satisfactory. Results indicated that general physicians had moderate scores in both attitudes (84.1%) and knowledge (55.7%) regarding palliative terminal cancer care. However, they had insufficient knowledge regarding truth telling, pain control and management with morphine, emergency management in terminal cancer care and treatment of fluid intake in terminal stages. Attitude and knowledge scores were statistically correlated (p=0.036). Knowledge scores were further positively associated with being taught palliative care in their medical curriculum (p=0.042). Conclusions: Formal education in palliative care and development of palliative care services are very much needed in Thailand to provide holistic care to terminally ill patients.
Purpose: This study examined medical college students' perception of euthanasia and analyzed whether there were significant differences in their perceptions based on their grade, religion, and economic situation. Methods: A questionnaire comprising items relating to students' knowledge about euthanasia, their economic situation relationships with patients, and the extent to which euthanasia would be allowed depending on the patient's condition. Results: Results by age and school year revealed there were no statistically significant differences concerning permissible levels of euthanasia. However, differences were found in the permissible levels of euthanasia according to changes in the patients' condition. Conclusion: It can be interpreted that students' personal values and religion had a great effect on the perception of euthanasia than the process of acquiring medical knowledge. The religion or values they have in your life affect your perception of euthanasia more than the process of acquiring and learning medical knowledge. The suffering of patients is the most important priority and it supports euthanasia on the grounds of relieving psychological distress for patients' families and the right of every patient to die gracefully. Nevertheless, considering the possibility of patient survival and euthanasia being used for murder, it is necessary to legislate the use of euthanasia and have the appropriate qualifications for its administration on patients.
Purpose: This descriptive research study aimed to investigate the knowledge and perception of the natural disaster medical system by relevant disaster medical response teams in Jeonnam region, and provide baseline data for a disaster education program based on analysis of priorities of educational demand. Methods: Online questionnaires were distributed to 200 research participants including paramedics from five fire stations in J province, 22 public health centers, two disaster base hospitals, ERU (Emergency Response Units), and DMAT (Disaster Medical Assistance Team). The questionnaires elicited basic information about respondents, their knowledge and perception on disaster preparation and response, cooperation system, and educational and training needs. Results: The top priority items selected were: other disasters for paramedics, first aid for the rapid response team, and command system for DMAT. Conclusion: Customized education and training programs must be developed to suit each organizational need. Detailed operational guidelines must be established and with them a unified educational curriculum should be put into practice.
With the development of related technologies, Location-Based Services (LBS) are growing fast and being used in many ways. Past LBS studies have focused on adoption of LBS because of the fact that LBS users have privacy concerns regarding revealing their location information. Meanwhile, the number of LBS users and revenues from LBS are growing rapidly because users can get some benefits by revealing their location information. Little research has been done on how LBS affects consumers' information search behavior in product purchase. The purpose of this paper is examining the effect of LBS information filtering on buyers' uncertainty and their information search behavior. When consumers purchase a product, they try to reduce uncertainty by searching information. Generally, there are two types of uncertainties - knowledge uncertainty and choice uncertainty. Knowledge uncertainty refers to the lack of information on what kinds of alternatives are available in the market and/or their important attributes. Therefore, consumers having knowledge uncertainty will have difficulties in identifying what alternatives exist in the market to fulfil their needs. Choice uncertainty refers to the lack of information about consumers' own preferences and which alternative will fit in their needs. Therefore, consumers with choice uncertainty have difficulties selecting best product among available alternatives.. According to economics of information theory, consumers narrow the scope of information search when knowledge uncertainty is high. It is because consumers' information search cost is high when their knowledge uncertainty is high. If people do not know available alternatives and their attributes, it takes time and cognitive efforts for them to acquire information about available alternatives. Therefore, they will reduce search breadth. For people with high knowledge uncertainty, the information about products and their attributes is new and of high value for them. Therefore, they will conduct searches more in-depth because they have incentive to acquire more information. When people have high choice uncertainty, people tend to search information about more alternatives. It is because increased search breadth will improve their chances to find better alternative for them. On the other hand, since human's cognitive capacity is limited, the increased search breadth (more alternatives) will reduce the depth of information search for each alternative. Consumers with high choice uncertainty will spend less time and effort for each alternative because considering more alternatives will increase their utility. LBS provides users with the capability to screen alternatives based on the distance from them, which reduces information search costs. Therefore, it is expected that LBS will help users consider more alternatives even when they have high knowledge uncertainty. LBS provides distance information, which helps users choose alternatives appropriate for them. Therefore, users will perceive lower choice uncertainty when they use LBS. In order to test the hypotheses, we selected 80 students and assigned them to one of the two experiment groups. One group was asked to use LBS to search surrounding restaurants and the other group was asked to not use LBS to search nearby restaurants. The experimental tasks and measures items were validated in a pilot experiment. The final measurement items are shown in Appendix A. Each subject was asked to read one of the two scenarios - with or without LBS - and use a smartphone application to pick a restaurant. All behaviors on smartphone were recorded using a recording application. Search breadth was measured by the number of restaurants clicked by each subject. Search depths was measured by two metrics - the average number of sub-level pages each subject visited and the average time spent on each restaurant. The hypotheses were tested using SPSS and PLS. The results show that knowledge uncertainty reduces search breadth (H1a). However, there was no significant correlation between knowledge uncertainty and search depth (H1b). Choice uncertainty significantly reduces search depth (H2b), but no significant relationship was found between choice uncertainty and search breadth (H2a). LBS information filtering significantly reduces the buyers' choice uncertainty (H4) and reduces the negative relationship between knowledge uncertainty and search breadth (H3). This research provides some important implications for service providers. Service providers should use different strategies based on their service properties. For those service providers who are not well-known to consumers (high knowledge uncertainty) should encourage their customers to use LBS. This is because LBS would increase buyers' consideration sets when the knowledge uncertainty is high. Therefore, less known services have chances to be included in consumers' consideration sets with LBS. On the other hand, LBS information filtering decrease choice uncertainty and the near service providers are more likely to be selected than without LBS. Hence, service providers should analyze geographically approximate competitors' strength and try to reduce the gap so that they can have chances to be included in the consideration set.

This study examined the awareness and use of cloud computing services by librarians in selected universities in Edo State. A descriptive survey research design was employed and the instrument used was questionnaire. The population of the study was 132 professional and Para-professional librarians. The total enumeration technique was used to select the entire population because the size was manageable. Simple percentage, frequency count, and mean were used to analyze the data collected. From the analysis of data gathered, it was found that the librarians are aware of the use of OCLC, world cat, and Google docs to a very high extent. It was found that the librarians used cloud computing services and technologies for collection development functions and cataloging. Based on the findings it was recommended that management of the libraries should support librarians by providing adequate funding to the library in order to support the acquisition and maintenance of infrastructure for cloud computing.
