Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge and attitudes towards hepatitis B among paramedic students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 395 paramedic students in Daejeon and Chungnam from May 10 to June 10, 2016. The questionnaire consisted of general characteristics of the subjects (9 items), knowledge of hepatitis B (20 items), and attitudes towards hepatitis B (7 items). Data were analyzed by t test, ANOVA, post hoc Duncan test, and Pearson's correlation analysis using SPSS v. 23.0. Results: The knowledge of hepatitis B was 10.52(${\pm}5.18$) out of 20 points and was significantly correlated with grade, vaccination, or antibody-positive irerspective of education. The positive attitude toward hepatitis B was 3.15(${\pm}.43$) and there was a significant correlation with family history irrespective of education. There was a statistically positive correlation between the knowledge and attitudes towards hepatitis B (r=.104, p=.039). Conclusion: Precise knowledge delivery and full understanding of hepatitis B should be incorporated into the education of paramedic students. Active infection control by emergency medical technicians should be maintained by hepatitis B prevention practices.
This study aimed to provide basic information on dental hygienists' practicing the prevention of infections by figuring out their actual conditions in dental clinics. In terms of the injury experiences, those who answered "there were" were 147 persons (87.5%) and the number of annual injury out of 147 persons with injury experiences was 7.7 time. For the tools that were damaged, 125 persons (75%) damaged the "explorer," which was highest. 3. For the experiences of being infected with contagious diseases, those who answered "there were" were 6 persons (3.6%) and there were four persons for "hepatitis B", one person for "rubella" and one person for "TB." 4. The questions with high practice scores were as in the following: "2. I wash my hands after conducting medical examinations (1.86 points)," "7. I always close the lid of a shot of Novocain after doing local anesthesia (1.86 points)" and "20. I separate and collect the wastes and give them to those who treat accumulated materials (1.85 points)". Meanwhile, the questions with low practice scores were as below: "16. I change my medical gowns (doctor wears) once a day (0.24 point)" and "I wash my medical gowns every time after examining patients with contagious diseases (0.52 points)." 5. The question with high knowledge was as below: "1. The contagion during the dental treatment is determined by source of infection, infection methods, infection routes and the host that is prone to infection (0.95 point)" and the question with the lowest knowledge was "5. HBV(hepatitis B) is destroyed after adding 95oC of heat for more than 5 minutes (0.27 points)." 6. The question with the highest organization-related factors was "I am always ready to use a mask, gloves, etc. if necessary" (0.89 points)" and the question with the lowest score was "There is a guideline that I can refer when I am exposed to dangerous situations related to the contagion in my workplace (0.33 point)." 7. In terms of the equipment conditions of protectors in medical environments, 168 persons for (disposable) mask (100%), 167 persons for disposable gloves (Latex) (99.4%), which meant that most of them were equipped with them. On the contrary, 108 persons (64.3%) are equipped with the protectors for frontal faces, which is the lowest and 165 persons (98.2%) said that they had autoclave in their disinfecting and sterilizing devices.

Today, although hospital infectious diseases are readily diagnosed, are treatable and preventable, many of these continues to be a major health problem in the developing countries, as well as the advanced nations. In the advanced countries efforts for hospital infection control has been presented but in Korea. The importance of being knowledgeble concerning hospital infection control is not much recognized yet. Presently in Korea good quality of care and services in the hospital is a main issue of discussion, therefore the subject of hospital infection control can't be over emphasized. Hospital infection control measures ranged from almost non existent to none when the pathogen transmission were not fully understood. As the knowledge of the transmission and contraction of the diseases expanded, newer and more effective procedures evolved. To be vital it is required to have good system for hospital infection control and inspection, rules and regulations and many numbers of persons with dedication. The strategy has been applied for hospital infection control standards as outlined by the centers for disease control and prevention(CDC). The hospital infection control committee is the factor to be well managed. Especially nurses are the important part of any hospital infection control program because they are the one who makes function properly. It is also required the responsibility of every employer who has employees who are exposed to blood, blood products or other potentially hospital infectious materials. Laws enacted by agencies of the federal government but the emphasis, and the demands for initiating and maintaining these control measures should be practiced on a routine and daily basis. The forgoing facts and requirements will assist us in assuring our hospital infection control program is successful.

The person who knows inaccurately about AIDS is less favorable to AIDS infectee, and the low level of knowledge as to AIDS and negative attitude cause bias and stigma of AIDS infectee to act as a social exclusion mechanism to impede early discovery or early treatment of the disease. As the level of knowledge as to AIDS affect the attitude of AIDS, so this study was tried to make use of basic data to develop education program that may help AIDS infectee and prevention of infection who visit dental clinics in the future by grasping the level of knowledge of the students of the dept. of dental hygiene as to AIDS and the attitude for the infectee. The collected the data subject to 360 students. The investigated data used statistic program SPSS 22.0 (SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA) to calculate general characteristics by frequency and percentage, and for the attitude towards AIDS using Social Networking Services surveysinfectees and testing hypothesis of Duncan, Scheffe to see which groups show the difference in the practice level of infection management.
This study was aimed to investigate the education needs for prevention and control of infectious diseases by lifecycle based on age group and to provide the fundamental data to develop the educational programs. A research was conducted with 328 adults over 19 years old for a month of February 2021 through online and mobile survey by Gallup Korea. Research contents include the general characteristics, personal hygiene practices related to infection, perceived risks related to infection, importance and level of knowledge on infectious diseases, and education needs for prevention and control of infectious diseases. For the research data analysis, PASW Statistics Ver 20.0 was used as a statistical program. Ranks from analysis upon conversion as the formula of Borich needs to sum up with importance and knowledge level showed first (Borich 3.11) with treatments for infectious diseases; second (Borich 2.15) with process in case of suspicion and diagnosis of infectious diseases; third (Borich 1.75) with transmission routes of infectious diseases; fourth (Borich 1.73) with preventive ways of infectious diseases; fifth (Borich 1.50) with diagnostic and test methods of infectious diseases; sixth (Borich 1.45) with characteristics of infectious diseases; and seventh (Borich1.38) with main symptoms of infectious diseases. It is anticipated that development of educational programs applying education needs for prevention and control of infectious diseases in this research can contribute to enhance the physical health, mental health, and psychological well-being of the subjects.
For health care professionals(HCPs) who have relatively higher possibility of exposing tuberculosis(Tb), it is important for them to equip with proper levels of knowledge and prevention activities. In terms of establishment of Tb education model for junior HCPs, therefore, literature review was done alongside 129 junior HCPs and 14 HCPs were asked to answer questionnaires and telephone survey. The results are follows.; Firstly, six educational themes such as epidermiology of Tb, Tb transmission and patho-physiology, test and diagnosis, latent Tb, Tb treatment, and Tb prevention were identified, based on the literature review. Secondly, the junior HCPs showed lower levels of knowledge regarding epidermiology, transmission and patho-physiology and latent Tb, compared to the other themes. When education courses are planned, longer period of time should be given to the lower level of knowledge areas. Thirdly, the HCPs emphasized that definition and type of Tb should be well integrated into the education in particular epidermiology education. They also responded that hospital infection and infection cycle of Tb need to be addressed during educational session about transmission and patho-physiology. in addition, they said that specific and detailed contents about diagnosis and group examination should be carefully delivered during the education, along with diagnosis, test and application of personal protective devices during education of latent Tb. They also answered that patient education and adverse effect of Tb medication should be taught during Tb treatment session, as well as self activities of health promotion for junior HCPs and systematic TB education as key way of Tb prevention. As the findings were from limited numbers of respondents and contained the sampling bias, the result has to be carefully interpretated prior to generalization. Therefore, further survey with larger study population is required in terms of development of Tb education model.
This research surveyed 324 college students majored dental hygiene in Gwangju and Chonnam province to analyze their awareness and degree of practice about infection control. Through the study for recognition about infectious disease related with the grade, the sophomore students are the group who is the most aware. In addition, the study shows students who experienced teeth cleaning have high degree of awareness (p<0.05). The research of perception about infectious disease based on experiences for vaccinations and education about infection prevention says hepatitis B has the highest rate when it comes to level of occurrence risk and tuberculosis and acquired immune deficiency syndrome are the lowest (p<0.05). According to the research, the group who had vaccination, knowledge about infection prevention and experience for scaling shows high practice rate for hand washing according to whether students receive protective inoculation or not. Depending on what the result were, since student learned about infection control has high degree of recognition and practice about infection management if we could emphasize the importance to students through regulative education about infection control and then increase the degree of practice, it would make big contributions to the effective infection control.
Background: Cervical cancer is one of the commonest cancers among women all over the world. The association of cervical cancer with human papilloma virus (HPV) is well established. Knowledge about the causal relationship between HPV and cervical cancer is important to make appropriate, evidence-based health care choices. In this context we conducted a community based study among women about the knowledge, attitude and practice about HPV infections and their health effects. Materials and Methods: A cross sectional interview based house to house survey was conducted with a validated data collection tool covering sociodemographic factors, knowledge, attitude and practice about HPV and its health effects, among 1020 women from a rural village, Perdoor, in Udupi district, Karnataka, India in 2013-14. Results: The mean age of participants was 38.9 years (SD=12.6). Study participants showed a high literacy rate (85.7%). Only 2.4% of sexually exposed women had undergone Pap smear testing. Partners of 4.4%women had undergone circumcision and they belonged to the Muslim community. Male condom usage was reported by 26 women (2.6%). However, none of the participants had heard of HPV and its health effects. Conclusions: This community based study found complete ignorance about HPV among rural South Indian women in spite of a high literacy level.
Purpose: This study was to identify the factors influencing the practice of respiratory infection prevention (RIP) for the elderly residing in rural areas. Methods: The data were collected from 188 residents aged 65 years or older residing in the jurisdictions of four public health clinics in rural areas of C city, using a structured questionnaire for the period from December 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019. The collected data were analyzed with independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The score on knowledge of RIP was 8.82±1.36, while it was 4.53±0.47 for attitude, 3.78±0.66 for practice, and 3.78±0.69 for social capital. It was observed that the factors influencing the practice of RIP were attitude of RIP (β=.38, p<.001), social capital (β=.29, p<.001), family type (β=-.19, p=.002), and subjective health status (β=.15, p=.035), while the explanatory power of the model was 47%. Conclusion: Consequently, to enhance the practice of RIP for the elderly residing in rural areas, it is necessary to develop programs considering social and environmental characteristics of rural areas based on their attitude of RIP, social capital, family type and subjective health status.
