  • The purpose of this study is to find out the effect of job rotation on employees' motivation and satisfaction. That is, it is the ultimate aim to know why employees want job rotation or why not, whether the rotation has an effect on their motivation, and finally whether the motivation gives direct job satisfaction. As a result of the survey, the efficiency and procedure of job rotation have influence on motivation. The employees also think that regular rotation can help them to find the proper position to meet their aptitude. And motivation also affects employees' achievement, benefits, and relationship with their bosses. Especially, when they feel great achievement and pride in their jobs, their satisfaction appeared to be very high. And when they are paid properly in comparison with their workload, or they learn special knowledge from their bosses, they usually content themselves.

  • Understanding consumer behavior based on the analysis of the customer data is one essential part of analytic CRM. To do this, the analytic skills for data extraction and data processing are required to users. As a user has various kinds of questions for the consumer data analysis, the user should use database language such as SQL. However, for the firm's user, to generate SQL statements is not easy because the accuracy of the query result is hugely influenced by the knowledge of work-site operation and the firm's database. This paper proposes a natural language based database search framework finding relevant database elements. Specifically, we describe how our TableRank method can understand the user's natural query language and provide proper relations and attributes of data records to the user. Through several experiments, it is supported that the TableRank provides accurate database elements related to the user's natural query. We also show that the close distance among relations in the database represents the high data connectivity which guarantees matching with a search query from a user.

  • Cultivation of competent manpower is recognized as one of the important factors in the development of fisheries as well as of other industries. For reference to the development of education of fisheries high schools in the Republic of Korea, the author carried out a study on the education in Japan. The reason is why the education on fisheries had been initiated in Japan and her educational system has played the role of a model for neighboring countries. Even though the education on fisheries tends to shrink a little in recent years by diffusing the unwilling tendency to engage in 3D (dirty, difficult and dangerous) jobs, there are fifty-one high schools educating fisheries in Japan. Thirty-eight of them are specialized fisheries high schools and the others are comprehensive high schools to put common course and fisheries course together. In the first step of study, the goal of education on fisheries, organization of department and arrangement of curriculum are analysed. 1. In the newly arranged curriculum which will come into effect from 1994, the goal of education on fisheries is set up as "By educating fundamental knowledge and technology on the production and circulation in the field of fisheries, have students understand the significance and role of fisheries, and so cultivate ability and active attitude to the development of fisheries". The goal means that the circulation of fishery products are regarded as important as the production itself, and active attitude to the development of fisheries is also stressed, different from the present goal. 2. Standard departments directed by the Government are set up as five-Departments of Marine Fishing, of Fisheries Engineering, of Information Communication, of Fish Culture, of Sea Foods. But they are actually organized and named by the founders of schools-local government. Then there are many unique-named departments and the management of schools are somewhat flexible according to the situation of local district. 3. Special subjects are revised to twenty-four in the new curriculum from twenty-two in the present curriculum. Among them the contents are widely revised in the subjects such as Introduction to Fisheries, Fisheries Engineering, Communication Engineering, Communication Technology, Fish Culture. On the other hand, five subjects such as Information Treatment on Fisheries, Information Technology on Fisheries, Subjective Study, Fisheries Economics, Circulation of Sea Foods are newly set up to meet the changing phase of the time.

Examination of the Relationship between Average Particle Size and Shear Strength of Granite-derived Weathered Soils through 2-D Distinct-element Method (이차원 개별요소 수치해석을 통한 화강풍화토의 평균입자크기와 전단강도의 관계 규명)

  • We have carried out a series of numerical experiments to study the effect of average particle size on the mechanical properties of granite-derived weathered soils. A distinct-element method was adopted to study the changes in macro-scale mechanical properties with particle size and maximum-to-minimum particle size ratio. The numerical soil specimen with cohesion values of 0.25 MPa and internal friction angle of 29 degrees was prepared for reference. While keeping the porosity values constant, we varied particle size and size distribution to study how cohesion and internal friction angle changes. The experimental results show that the values of cohesion apparently decrease with increasing particle size. Changes in the values of internal friction angles are small, but there is a trend of increase in internal friction angle as the average particle size increases. This study demonstrates a possibility that the results of numerical experiments of this type may be used for rapid estimation of mechanical properties of granite-derived weathered soils. For example, when mechanical properties obtained through in situ tests and particle size data obtained through lab analysis are available for a site, it is expected that the mechanical properties of weathered granite soils with varying degrees of weathering (thus, varying particle size) may be estimated rapidly only with particle size data for that site.

  • The Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) is the most common pathogen causing nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary disease. Despite the introduction of newer, more effective agents for the treatment of MAC, such as clarithromycin, the response to drug therapy in MAC pulmonary disease remains poor, and often frustrating. When MAC pulmonary disease has not been successfully eradicated using drug treatment alone, surgical management is still recognized to play a significant role. A case of MAC pulmonary disease, in a patient whose MAC disease was successfully treated by pulmonary resection, following the failure of drug therapy containing clarithromycin, is reported. To our knowledge, this is the first case report in Korea that the patient underwent a pulmonary resection for the treatment of MAC pulmonary disease.

An Explorative Study on Using the Method of Natural Family Planning (자연적 가족계획방법 사용에 대한 탐색적 연구)

  • This study was attempted to understand experiences of the users of natural family planning(NFP) by applying Q-methodology. 37 statements were used to Q population through literature research and interviews. For the P sample. I interviewed personally 30 people who had taken a lesson in NFP for over 6 months and had been using and experiencing it autonomously for more than 2 years so far, and asked them to Q-classify the statement cards in order of the degree of approval, from the one they most approved to the one they least approved. Data were coded and input into a computer and were analyzed using QUANL PC Program. In this study, I discovered 4 types of experiences by the users of NFP and named them each according to their features: the first, a type of mutual control with morality, the second, a type of the pursuit of mutual -cooperation, the third. a type of the pursuit of conviction. and the fourth, a type of the perception of health management. The first type said that NFP was a good contraceptive way in which no drug or devices are used, that the husband's cooperation was needed, and that they became able to control sexual desire with morality. The second type perceived that continuous efforts were required to put NFP in practice, that the, husband's cooperation was essential, and that dialogues between husband and wife were also necessary to use it, and as such they regarded mutual cooperation between husband and wife as highly important. On the other hand. the third type perceived that one's conviction played a big part, that knowledge of physiological changes was useful and the ability to sense physical changes improved. and that one's willpower was important. and thus they regarded one's own willpower as most important. The fourth type reported that this method was a good way to control pregnancy and should be taught about at the beginning of sex education. and thus they were emphasizing the importance of NFP as a helpful way to manage one's health. 1. therefore, intend to provide the following suggestions based on the result of this study. 1) It is necessary to develop a program that allows NFP to be applied to sex education program. 2) It is necessary to analyze factors that affect the execution of NFP. 3) It is necessary to analyze causes of failure of those who fail to execute NFP.

  • Owing to increasing concern that jobseekers are wasting too much time and effort building up so-called "spec" skills to get a decent job, many companies including state-run enterprises are now hiring rookies based on their job competency rather than test scores unrelated to the job. However, universities which are mainly responsible for training professional personnel needed for various kinds of companies and factories are reluctant to adopt NCS-based educational courses. The NCS defines how much knowledge and skill are required to work in a certain industry and then evaluates them. Although the Korean government and several junior colleges have been tentatively operating the course-based qualification system at the "industrial technician" level since 2014, the results are falling far short of diverse stakeholders' expectations. Therefore, there are urgent needs to study how to develop NCS-based curriculum at the university level, and how to strengthen the linkage between work, training, and qualification.

Digital Library Research : Major Issues and Trends (디지털도서관 연구 동향(1))

  • Digital library research has attracted much attention. While many research projects are funded by government agencies and national and international bodies, some are run by specific academic and research institutions and libraries. While some digital library projects, such as the ELINOR project in the UK, the first two phases of the eLib(Electronic Libraries) programme in the UK, and the first phase of the DLI(Digital Library Initiative) in the USA, are now over, a number of other projects are currently under-way in different parts of the world. Beginning with the definitions and characteristics of digital libraries proposed by various researchers, this paper provides brief accounts of some major digital library projects that are currently in progress, or are just completed, in different parts of the world. There follows a review of digital library research under 16 major headings. Literature for this review has been identified through a search on the LISA CD-ROM database and a Dialog search on library and information science databases, and the resulting output has been supplemented by a scan of the various Issues of D-Lib Magazine and Ariadne, and the Web sites of various organizations and institutions engaged in digital library research. The review indicates that we have learned a lot through digital library research within a short span of time. However, a number of issues are yet to be resolved. The paper ends with an indication of the research issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the near future in order to bring the digital library from the researcher's laboratory to the real life environment.

Study on the Science & Technology Information Service Needs Corresponding to the Scientists and Engineers Group Characteristics (사용자 그룹별 과학기술정보 서비스 수요 분석)

  • In this study, survey analysis was conducted to determine the demands of science & technology information service by the groups of users. The questionnaire was composed of the need for 20 services in the science & technology information, the need for personal information to people-to-people exchanges, and information that can be shared with others. KOSEN users 1,013 people participated in the survey, and the analysis of variance was conducted depending on institution, profession, final degree and the age of the respondents. Results of frequency analysis, there were in high demands for trend analysis, papers, research reports, patents, knowledge queries, project announcements, jobs, experimental methods, information society and study abroad/Post-doc information, and all services except mentoring, community and blog were appeared to have the significant differences depending on the groups of users. Also the personal information deemed to be necessary for interaction with others was resulted in specialization, thesis/research performances, career, organization, jobs, final degree and education in order, there were partially difference depending on the user's groups. In addition, 97% of respondents had their own scientific and technical information to be shared with other people in order of papers, presentations (ppt), reports, experimental methods and the images. The results of this study can be used as useful information for scientists and engineers to develop a user-centered personalized services and are expected to be helpful to set the direction of science information services in the future.

The Study for Performance Analysis of Software Reliability Model using Fault Detection Rate based on Logarithmic and Exponential Type (로그 및 지수형 결함 발생률에 따른 소프트웨어 신뢰성 모형에 관한 신뢰도 성능분석 연구)

  • Software reliability in the software development process is an important issue. Infinite failure NHPP software reliability models presented in the literature exhibit either constant, monotonic increasing or monotonic decreasing failure occurrence rates per fault. In this paper, reliability software cost model considering logarithmic and exponential fault detection rate based on observations from the process of software product testing was studied. Adding new fault probability using the Goel-Okumoto model that is widely used in the field of reliability problems presented. When correcting or modifying the software, finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process model. For analysis of software reliability model considering the time-dependent fault detection rate, the parameters estimation using maximum likelihood estimation of inter-failure time data was made. The logarithmic and exponential fault detection model is also efficient in terms of reliability because it (the coefficient of determination is 80% or more) in the field of the conventional model can be used as an alternative could be confirmed. From this paper, the software developers have to consider life distribution by prior knowledge of the software to identify failure modes which can be able to help.
