An Analysis of Public Agencies' Sharing Administrative Information: Current Status and Future Prospects (행정정보 공동 활용의 현황과 성과에 관한 연구)

  • The development of IT has contributed a lot to enhancing administrative efficiency. In particular, it enabled administrative agencies to be able to upgrade the effects and efficiency of public services by saving unnecessary time, labor, and equipment that might surely occur in delivering routine services in repetition. As the concept of governance and knowledge-based administration assumes a pivotal value in the 21 century administrative innovation, sharing information among agencies is a key to building effective governance system. However, current extent of sharing information in public agencies is below the level of expectation and thus the need exists for the steps to making information shared more widely and effectively among public agencies. This paper gives a snap shot on the extant status of information sharing among public agencies and seeks ways to facilitate it from the perspective of electrical government.

The Health-related Experiences of Foreign Wives in Korea (다문화가정 결혼이주여성의 건강 관련 경험)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore health-related experiences of the foreign wives. Methods: A qualitative research design was used to understand the health-related experiences of foreign wives. Ten informants were interviewed from December 2007 to December 2009. Results: The health related life experiences of foreign wives were analyzed within a self development process; Choice and struggle, Change and opportunity, and Settlement and expectation. The theme of choice and struggle includes physical and emotional stress in the initial stage of marriage. The second process of change and opportunity focused on the coping strategies of the women having power after knowledge acquisition from the multicultural family support center. The last theme was health and happiness from the women' perspectives. Conclusion: This study has emphasized the health condition of the foreign wives. Since foreign wives are members of Korean society, health care professionals need to design health services to meet their needs.

Expectations for a Tele- Health Surveillance System by Residents of an Information Network Village (일 정보화 마을주민의 재택 건강관리 시스템에 대한 기대수준)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the expectations toward a tele-health surveillance system by residents of an information network village. Method: A descriptive study was conducted using interviews with a questionnaire. Of the households in the village, 24 were selected for inclusion in a pilot study. All of the residents from these households, for a total of 67, participated in the survey. Result: Expectations for promotion of health by a tele-health surveillance system were higher in residents with higher level of education. Expectations for effectiveness of disease management and promotion of health status by a tele-health surveillance system were higher in residents with family history or experience with emergencies. The higher scores for health knowledge and health concerns were associated with higher expectations for effectiveness of disease management and promotion of health by a tele-health surveillance system Conclusion: Analysis of the characteristic of the residents should precede implementation of a tele-health surveillance system in any location as expectations for tele-health surveillance system differ according to the characteristics.

Evaluation of Bilingual Mathematics Learning of Mongolian Students in China

  • This paper is devoted to evaluate the effect of bilingual mathematics learning of Mongolian students in the primary school of Inner Mongolia. The study used tests and examined 305 Mongolian students' math achievement from Mongolian school and 277 Mongolian students from Mongolian and Han mixed school, at the same time 301 students from Guangxi regular primary school for comparison. Multivariate statistical analysis shows that there is no significant difference between these students. The results showed that the implementation of bilingual mathematics education in Inner Mongolia have achieved the desired effect. The reasons leading to the observed results are analyzed. There is a long history of bilingual education in Inner Mongolia, so the bilingual education system is complete, and the bilingual teaching resources are relatively abundant, especially the mathematics term translation between Mongolian and Chinese is standardized and unified.

  • A design needs various experience and design knowledge through a whole design process. Despite of all efforts and time, it is not easy to introduce a product that meets all customer's needs and expectation in time. To achieve the product goal, designers need a set of sequential process to find appropriate design parameters and ensure customers' needs and requirements. In this research we propose a design methodology for the initial design of an excavator front group with existing QFD(Quality Function Deployment) and Axiomatic Design to satisfy customer's requirements. It turns out that the proposed methodology can support designers more effectively, objectively, and systematically.

  • It is concentrated their efforts on expanding establishment mind like creating regular subject about establishment business of students and establishment business supporting center in University. Students creation enterprise club for establishment business with this hot wind of change and it seems to be success with hot wind of venture creation and gather many students for it. But practical result of research says that there are many problems like absence of education program, insufficient of professional leader, missing exact purpose so members decreased and activity itself piled up. Also creation business supporting system for student didn't conveyed to students evenly and effectively as much as original purpose and feeling effect is short of expectation. Therefore it will be required to reorganize supporting system and operate existed club to raise their ability of basic quality and gift that needs to do company activity and create basic mind about principal of free enterprise through activity of establishment enterprise by students. And we have to interest in their activity for creation enterprise with exact consciousness of purpose and prepare systematic, material, human supporting system that needs to establish enterprise with our knowledge and ability.

Analysis on the Teachers' Utilization Levels of Smart Devices for Their Improvement (스마트기기에 대한 교사의 활용 수준과 개선 사항에 대한 실태 분석)

  • Smart classrooms have been set up nationwide to utilize smart devices for teaching and learning in the knowledge- based society, As this trend might quickly spread, we have investigated the utilization levels, and issues around the facilities from the experienced teachers. In order to study the impact of easy access to smart devices, the teacher sampling groups were divided into two: one teacher group responsible for smart classrooms and the other group teaching in ordinary classrooms. Survey questions dealt with teacher needs analyses, their expectation of their students' attitude changes, their satisfaction and utilization levels of smart devices currently built in classrooms. The results showed us that teachers have vague expectation about the smart devices and want more highly applicable devices for instruction, improvement of their compatibility with other multimedia devices or applications as well as to improve the resolution of electronic boards. and basic functions of information search and videos that they use everyday.

Survival Analysis of Gastric Cancer Patients with Incomplete Data

  • Purpose: Survival analysis of gastric cancer patients requires knowledge about factors that affect survival time. This paper attempted to analyze the survival of patients with incomplete registered data by using imputation methods. Materials and Methods: Three missing data imputation methods, including regression, expectation maximization algorithm, and multiple imputation (MI) using Monte Carlo Markov Chain methods, were applied to the data of cancer patients referred to the cancer institute at Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tehran in 2003 to 2008. The data included demographic variables, survival times, and censored variable of 471 patients with gastric cancer. After using imputation methods to account for missing covariate data, the data were analyzed using a Cox regression model and the results were compared. Results: The mean patient survival time after diagnosis was $49.1{\pm}4.4$ months. In the complete case analysis, which used information from 100 of the 471 patients, very wide and uninformative confidence intervals were obtained for the chemotherapy and surgery hazard ratios (HRs). However, after imputation, the maximum confidence interval widths for the chemotherapy and surgery HRs were 8.470 and 0.806, respectively. The minimum width corresponded with MI. Furthermore, the minimum Bayesian and Akaike information criteria values correlated with MI (-821.236 and -827.866, respectively). Conclusions: Missing value imputation increased the estimate precision and accuracy. In addition, MI yielded better results when compared with the expectation maximization algorithm and regression simple imputation methods.

  • This study investigated the background of the intellectual ability that consists of family environment, intellectual priority, career aims, intellectual extracurricular activities of the students who were selected for the Science Gifted Education Center. We performed a survey and analysis of the students at the Science Gifted Education Center in order to explore their learning attitudes and intellectual ability, as well as the elements that represent their attitudes. As a result of the study, I found that the students in the Science Gifted Education Center generally had good economic and family backgrounds that showed no significant hardship in supporting the students. The families were also highly educated intellectually. In case the talented students in Science desired to be pure scientists, they liked the Science subjects and enjoyed reading science books. It was mostly the male students that took part. As for the attitude toward intellectual ability, they expected to improve their abilities as they gained knowledge and increased their intelligence through learning, although they didn't confide with us on their intelligence quotients.   • This study analyzed the Entrepreneurial Competencies of Science and Technology Personnel from the point of view of the industry's demanders. It is necessary to change institutional and policy support from quantitative support to improvement of qualitative level. Specifically, this study used the Borich's Needs Assessment Model to determine what capabilities are currently lacking and which should be supplemented. As a result of analysis, it showed that the current level was lower than expected level. Especially, expectation level was high in order of team working, problem solving ability, communication, abstract thinking, job knowledge, Autonomy, leadership, risk-taking, and commercialization are all lower than the overall average. In the analysis of educational need, the most important factor of entrepreneurial competence appeared in order of problem solving ability, teamworking, job related knowledge, abstract thinking, and communication. This means that it is necessary to logically solve the problems that are encountered in various situations in the organization by using cooperation between the teams and their own job knowledge. In addition, education should be conducted to effectively communicate the results to others.
