For ease of use and access, web browsers are now being used to access and modify sensitive data and systems including critical control systems. Due to their computational capabilities and network connectivity, browsers are vulnerable to several types of attacks, even when fully updated. Browsers are also the main target of phishing attacks. Many browser attacks, including phishing, could be prevented or mitigated by using site-, user-, and device-specific security configurations. However, we discovered that all major browsers expose disparate security configuration procedures, option names, values, and semantics. This results in an extremely hard to secure web browsing ecosystem. We analyzed more than a 1000 browser security configuration options in three major browsers and found that only 13 configuration options had syntactic and semantic similarity, while 4 configuration options had semantic similarity, but not syntactic similarity. We: a) describe the results of our in-depth analysis of browser security configuration options; b) demonstrate the complexity of policy-based configuration of web browsers; c) describe a knowledge-based solution that would enable organizations to implement highly-granular and policy-level secure configurations for their information and operational technology browsing infrastructures at the enterprise scale; and d) argue for necessity of developing a common language and semantics for web browser configurations.

This study examined activities involving the finding, organizing, managing, and re-finding of information by knowledge workers in Kuwait. This research also conducted a review of the tools needed for effective personal information management (PIM) and assessed perceptions about improving PIM through Internet use. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews conducted among 26 graduates of the Department of Information Studies at Kuwait University. These participants are currently employed in different sectors engaged in a variety of information-related activities. This study's findings indicated that participants gathered different types of information from a variety of sources. This information was stored using several devices and services, including desktop computers, shared drives, clouds, bookmarked websites, e-mail correspondence, and favorites lists. Participants organized information in personal folders according to categories such as subject/topic, time, project, document type, and geographical region. Preferred methods for information re-finding included searching by keyword and browsing through folders. Interviewees reported problems of information overload, fragmentation, and anxiety. Most were active in social media via mobile device, while some of them used Siri or Ask Google to retrieve information. Tools used for PIM included calendars, tasks, schedules, e-mail management tools, clouds, and social networking tools. Participants reported that the Internet helped with personal information management practices, but that some privacy issues arose in this context.

Local languages based information storage and retrieval system is essential for any online digital repository system. This paper reports the development of an interface in Bengali that allows users not only browsing and searching Indic-script based documents but also allows administrator performing various system level operations. This paper briefly describes the origin and key characteristics of Indic-scripts along with their encoding in Unicode standard with special reference to Bengali language. It also demonstrates the development processes of Bengal-script based information representation and retrieval (IRR) system viz. BURA (Burdwan University Research Archive) using different open standard and open source software (OSS) including different factors essential for building such successful Indic-script based multilingual digital libraries. The suggested strategies may help digital library developers to design an appropriate multi-script based information access services in any other Indic-script based languages.

한국의 고유문화로만 주목을 받아온 한식은 한류 및 1인 미디어의 소재로 활용되며 세계 시장 속에서 인기를 이어가고 있다. 한식의 조리법에 더하여 한식의 가치를 부각시켜줄 수 있는 관련 자료들을 체계적으로 조직하는 것은 확장 및 제한검색, 효과적인 브라우징을 통한 한식 콘텐츠의 재사용성을 향상시키는 데 토대가 된다. 이에 본 연구는 한식 지식구조의 정립을 위한 온톨로지의 설계를 목적으로 한다. 온톨로지 모델링은 OWL을 활용하였으며, 한식 정보를 담고 있는 32권의 단행본을 기반으로 한식의 유형 및 어휘를 조사하고, 음식 정보를 기반으로 하는 5개의 도메인 및 어플리케이션을 분석하여 데이터요소를 추출하였다. 연구결과 클래스 및 관련 속성을 도출하였고, 클래스별 속성과 색인예를 제시하였다.

This research is to analyze the public cases of information facilities in terms of central circulations in multi level volumes such as atrium or court which provide visual intervention between different spaces and physical connections such as bridges. Hunt Library design balances the understood pre-existing needs with the University's emerging needs to create a forward-thinking learning environment. While clearly a contemporary structure within a traditional context of the NCSU campus, the Hunt Library provides a positive platform for influencing its surroundings. Both technical and programmatic innovations are celebrated as part of the learning experience and provide a versatile and stimulating environment for students. Public library as open spaces connecting to an interactive social domain over communities can provide variety of learning environments, or technology based labs. There are many cases of the public information spaces with dynamic networks where participants can play their roles in physical space as well as in the intellectual stimulation. In the research, new public projects provide typologies of information spaces with user oriented media. The research is to address a creative transition between the reading space and the experimental links of the integration of state-of-the-art technology is highly visible in the building's design. The user-friendly browsing system that replaces the traditional browsing with the virtual shelves classified and archived by their form, is to reduce the storage space of the public library and it is to allow more space for collaborative learning. In addition to the intelligent robot of information storages, innovative features is the large-scale visualization space that supports team experiments to carry out collaborative online works and therefore the public library's various programs is to provide visitors with more efficient participatory environment.

SELIS(SEoul Women's University Library and Information System) OPAC에 대한 이용자의 키워드/불연산자 탐색의 지식수준을 알아보기 위하여 4가지 사항에 따라 질문지의 결과를 분석하였다. 분석한 결과를 보면 SELIS OPAC 이용시 키워드 탐색에서 불연산자의 사용이 쉽다고 생각하고 불연산자의 사용으로 검색결과를 만족하는 이용자는 그렇지 않다고 응답한 이용자 보다 키워드/불연산 탐색의 지식수준이 높은 것으로 요약할 수 있다. 설문문항에서 제시한 지식은 키워드 탐색의 특성(단일 키워드 사용, 2개 이상의 키워드 사용), 키워드 탐색 시 불연산자의 사용, 색인에 대한 지식, 불용어 리스트에 대한 지식(비통제 용어) 키워드 탐색기법(전방일치, 우측절단). 불연산자의 올바른 사용, 키워드의 브라우징으로 주제어 선정에 관한 것이다. 앞에서 제시한 이러한 지식들은 OPAC의 키워드/불연산자 탐색에서 중요한 요소로 볼 수 있다. 성공적인 탐색을 위해서는 정보검색과정에 대한 개념적인 지식 즉, 정보요구를 탐색 가능한 질의어로 바꾸는 것과 주어진 시스템에서 질문의 결과를 얻는 방법에 대한 어의적인 지식(시스템의 특징을 어떻게 언제 이용할 것인가 하는 지식) 그리고 이용자의 질문에 대한 과학적인 기술 즉, 기본적인 컴퓨터 기술과 상세한 탐색문을 작성하는 구문론적인 지식이 요구된다. 그러나 지금까지 이용자에 대한 온라인목록 탐색의 중요한 지식으로 간주해온 것은 과학적인 기술방법에 관한 지식에만 치중하고 어의적인 지식, 개념적인 지식을 강조하는 것은 부족하였다. 따라서 온라인목록 이용에 관한 교육을 너무 과학적인 기법에만 치중할 것이 아니라 어의적 지식, 구문에 관한 기술과 개념적인 지식 교육에 초점을 맞추어야 할 것이다.

이 연구에서는 현재의 정보검색 환경에서 이용자 친화적인 검색 시스템을 개발하기 위한 한 방안으로 개별문서의 지식구조 브라우징 인터페이스를 제안하였다. 개별문서에 대한 지식구조를 자동 생성하기위해 개별문서에 출현한 용어를 이용하여 용어 클러스터링과 클러스터 대표어 선정 작업을 수행하였고, 이를 대상으로 다차원 축척법을 이용하여 2차원 공간에 개별문서의 지식구조를 표현함으로써 이용자가 개별문서에 대해 보다 용이하게 절근할 수 있는 브라우징 인터페이스를 마련하였다.

본 논문에서는 멀티미디어 대학도서관 정보망 환경상에서 구현될 정보시스템의 이론적인 틀을 구성한 다음 정보시스템 모형의 일부 기능을 멀티미디어 저작 도구를 가지고 실제 구현해 보았다. 시스템 모형은 JANUS Virtual Library, The Book House등과 같은 실제 시스템들을 기초로하여 구성하였고 시스템 구현에 사용된 지식베이스는 참고사서들과의 면담을 통해 얻은 데이터를 이용하여 구축하였다. 구현된 시스템은 참고 전문가시스템, 학술지 브라우징, 멀티미디어 데이타베이스, 온라인 열람목록, 외부 데이타베이스, 이용 안내의 6개의 모듈로 구성된다. 결론에서는 멀티미디어 대학도서관 정보망을 구현하기 위해서 해겨해야 할 문제점들을 제시하였다.

Traditional methods and materials used for Korean buildings need to be well organized and managed so that they can be utilized in modernization of old buildings. Supporting web-based management of information of Korean traditional building materials helps spread the related knowledge. This paper identifies the characteristics of traditional building materials data, and develops an information structure to represent the related information effectively. It also describes design decisions on web-based user interfaces to support flexible browsing and retrieval of the managed data. As the traditional building data are described by old domain-specific technical terms, utility of the developed service might be limited to those who are familiar with the terms. As an approach to tackle this problem, the proposed system supports user tagging by allowing users to classify the stored information using their own terms, and also to retrieve data using the user-supplied tags.

위키는 분산 환경의 협력학습 활동에 매우 효율적인 도구임이 최근 여러 실험을 통하여 연구되어 왔다. 위키는 구성원간의 지식공유가 효율적으로 이루어 질 수 있는 기능을 제공하고는 있으나, 페이지와 링크의 동적인 변화로 인한 내용구조의 복잡성으로 인하여 각 구성원이 내용구조를 전체적으로 파악하거나 자신에게 필요한 페이지를 효율적으로 찾기 힘든 단점이 있다고 볼 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 그룹 구성원들에 의한 페이지의 변화가 많이 발생하는 온라인 프로젝트 협력학습활동에서 그룹의 각 구성원에게 내용 구조와 자신에게 관심 있는 활동 페이지를 개별적으로 안내해줄 수 있는 적응적 내비게이션 안내 시스템을 개발하였다. 우리는 먼저 각 페이지와 구성원간의 관계 모델을 페이지 변화 정보와 개별 로그 정보를 사용하여 개발하고 이 모델을 사용하여 적응적 내비게이션 시스템을 설계 및 구현 하였으며, 이 적응적 시스템이 그룹 구성원간의 효율적인 정보공유 그리고 그로 인한 협력학습활동을 어떻게 촉진시켰는지를 현장 실험을 통하여 보여준다.
