토양 내 복합유종에 의한 오염 해석 연구 (Interpretation of Contaminated Soil by Complex Oil)

  • Over 30% of domestic soil contamination has occurred via petroleum products and complex oil. Moreover, contamination by complex oil is more intense than it is by a single petroleum product species. In this study, we analyzed sectional TPH (total petroleum hydrocarbon) pattern and sectional ratio of current domestically distributed petroleum products, such as kerosene, diesel, bunker C, and lubricant and complex oils, to determine pollution characteristics of the soil. In the TPH pattern, kerosene, which is a light distillate, had an early retention time, and lubricant oil, which is a heavy distillate, had a late retention time in the gas chromatogram. In addition, we obtained a complexly contaminated soil via diesel and lubricant oil from the Navy and inspected it for its ratio of complex oil species. The inspection results showed that this soil was contaminated with 85% diesel and 15% lubricant oil. The method developed in this study could be used to determine complex petroleum sources and ratios at sites with accidentally contaminated soil.

인화성액체에 오염된 지문의 세척 효과 (Washing effect of fingermark contaminated with flammable liquids)

  • 유리 표면에 부착된 지문을 인화성액체(휘발유, 등유, 경유 혹은 신너)로 오염시킨 후 hexane 혹은 heptane으로 세척하였을 때의 세척 효과를 연구하였다. 이 때 지문은 cyanoacrylate fuming 후 basic yellow 40으로 염색하는 방법으로 가시화하였다. 한 지문을 4등분하여 세척 효과를 비교한 결과 지문 성분이 인화성액체에 용해되어서 융선이 훼손된다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이렇게 인화성액체로 오염된 지문을 hexane이나 heptane으로 세척한 결과 휘발유, 등유 및 신너로 오염되었던 지문은 오염 당시에 융선이 훼손되어서 세척 효과가 나타나지 않았고, 경유로 오염되었던 지문에서만 세척 효과가 나타나 융선의 품질이 향상되었다. 오히려 세척용액으로 사용한 hexane과 heptane은 융선을 훼손시키기 때문에 휘발유, 등유 및 신너로 오염된 지문은 세척과정을 생략하고 바로 증강하는 것이 오히려 낫다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한 경유로 오염된 지문을 세척할 때에는 세척용매의 양과 접촉 시간을 최소로 해야 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

Total petroleum hydrocarbon에 의한 작물의 발아 및 유근생장 저해 (Germination Rate and Radicle Growth Inhibition in Crops by Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH))

  • BACKGROUND: Total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH), which are main materials of soil contamination by oil, are a term used for any mixture of hydrocarbons. Korea Ministry of Environment established the maximum permissible level of TPH in farmland by 500 mg/kg, and reported that the TPH level of soil in 266 installation such as gas station, transport company, and military unit ranged from 1,356 to 55,117 mg/kg and were much higher than the maximum permissible level in 2011. METHODS AND RESULTS: To determine the effect of TPH on crops, we investigated the effect of gasoline, kerosene, and diesel on the germination and radicle growth of mainly consumed crops. The germination rates of control in investigated all crops ranged from 80.0-100%. The germination and radicle growth in majority of investigated crops were not inhibited even at 2,500 mg/L. However, germination in onion, leek, and green perilla and radicle growth in leek, rape, tomato, and green perilla were significantly inhibited by increasing concentrations of gasoline, kerosene and diesel treatment. Germination and radicle growth inhibition of green perilla by kerosene and diesel were the highest, the percent inhibition at the 500 mg/L were 100 and 98.6%, 100 and 88.2%, respectively. 50% inhibition of germination in green perilla by kerosene and diesel were 39.96 and 29.87 mg/L, and 50% inhibition of radicle growth were 52.76 and 177.96 mg/L, respectively. Conclusion(s): These results suggest the possibility that the maximum permissible level of TPH might to be established general level with exception by crops.

Pseudomonas aeruginosa F722부터 유래된 biosurfactant를 이용한 등.경유 혼합물의 생분해율 향상 (Biodegradation Enhancement of The Mixture of Kerosene and Diesel by using Biosurfactant from Pseudomonas aeruginosa F722)

  • 본 연구에서는 등$.$경유 혼합물을 Pseudomonas aeruginosa F722를 이용하여 분해시킬 때 생분해율에 미치는 생물계면활성제, 화학계면활성제 및 공기 공급량의 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과, 탄화수소 분해율은 0.01%와 0.15% 농도의 생물계면활제를 첨가하였을 때가 0.05%, 0.1% 및 0.2%농도의 생물계면활제를 첨가하였을 때보다 최고 6.2% 높은 94.3, 94.2% 제거율을 나타냈다. 하지만, 0.15% 생물계면활제를 첨가하였을 때가 0.01% 생물계면활제를 첨가하였을 때보다 탄화수소 분해율이 더 안정적이었다. 그리고 생물계면활성제 (surface tension; 30mN/m)와 화학계면활성제 (Tween 80;39mN/m, detergent;31mN/m)를 0.15% 농도로 첨가하여 배양하였을때, 탄화수소 분해율은 94.2, 93.5, 93.4%로 비슷하였다. 하지만, P. aeruginosa F722의 개체수는 생물계면활성제를 첨가했을 때가 화학계면활성제를 첨가했을 때보다 2배 이상 증가된 19 ${\times}$ $10^{7}$ cfu/$m\ell$로 조사되었다. 0.5vvm으로 공기를 공급하면서 교반을 수행하였을 때, 배양 3일 후, 사용균주를 접종하지 않은 공시험에서 탄화수소 분해율은 68.8%였으며, P. aeruginosa F722를 접종하였을 때는 94.8%이었다. 0.5 vvm으로 공기를 공급하였을 때가 공기를 공급하지 않았을 때보다 배양시간이 1/3로 단축되었다. 그리고 교반배양 (3일)과 정치배양 (10일)에서 탄화수소 분해율은 각각 94.8, 93.7%였다.

석유제품의 식별제(Unimark 1494DB) 분석을 위한 HPLC 적용가능성 분석 연구 (Study on the Applicability Analysis of HPLC for Fuel Marker (Unimark 1494DB) in Petroleum Products)

  • 석유제품 내의 식별제를 정성 정량분석하기 위해 HPLC의 적용가능성을 연구하였다. 등유와 자동차용 경유에 함유된 식별제의 정성분석을 위해 HPLC에서 최적의 분석조건(이동상 용매의 비율, 유속 등)을 선정하고, 이를 바탕으로 식별제의 정량분석을 위한 검량곡선을 작성하였다. 특히, 일정 농도 범위에서의 등유는 4.75분에서, 그리고 자동차용 경유는 4.17분의 머무름시간(retention time)을 나타내었고, 등유와 자동차용 경유의 검량곡선 상관계수($R^2$)가 0.999 이상을 나타내어 정량분석에 적용 가능할 것으로 나타났다. 현행 식별제의 분석방법인 UV/Vis 분광광도계를 이용한 분석결과와 비교분석을 실시하였고, 등유의경우 약 7 %의 낮은 편차를 보였으며, 자동차용 경유의 경우 약 20 %의 다소 큰 편차를 확인하였다.

불량연료 사용시 농용등유 엔진의 Oil Dilution 현상에 관한 연구 (Study on the Oil Dilution of the Farm Kerosee Engine while Using Impure Fuels)

  • The dilution of crankcase oil with unburned portions of the fuel during operating is one source of the oil contaminations which will reduce engine life.It has been learned that major causes of oil dilution may be the result of using impure fuels which were mixed with water, dust, and some others, but very little was known about this. This study was conducted to develop a more intimate understanding about oil dilution of the farm kerosene engine while using impure fuel mixed with expecially diesel. Fuels being used in this study were 9 kinds of mixed fuels, kerosene and diesel. Farm kerosenen engine of 10 P.S. was tested at no-load of 1000 and 2000 rpm., such as 1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, and 11/10 loads for understanding about oil dilution of keresene engine.The result of this study are summarized as follows : 1. The amounts of oil dilution of the engine being tested was increased with increase in the applied loads and the contents of diesel in the mixed fuels when using fuels other than kerosenen and diesel, whereas at $D_100$ fuel the comount of oil dilution decreased in some cases. The lowest value was measured to be 20 cc/hr, at $K_90$ fuel of no-load condition, and the highest value to be 293cc/hr. at $K_{10}$ fuel of 4/4 load condition. 2. When the engine was operated at no-load condition, the amount of oil dilution at 100rpm. was much more than at 2000 rpm. 3. Because the fuel consumption and the oil dilution showed a similar tendency along the applied loads, the excessive fuel consumption of engines was supposed to be one of the important factors affecting oil dilution. 4. The temperature of crankcse oil was varied invesely with oil dilution, but they were not thought to be factors to determine each other variable. 5. The tested engine could be operated with high percentage of diesel mixed fuel from no-load condition to fully loaded condition, but it would be impossible to operate the engine for long hous continuously due to excessive speed fluctuation.

바이오 디젤 혼합율이 압력식 스월노즐의 분무 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Bio-diesel Blending Rate on the Spray Characteristics of the Pressure Swirl Nozzle)

  • This paper presents the spray characteristics of the gun type burner nozzle with bio-diesel blending rate. The burner nozzle used in this experiment is a pressure swirl type nozzle. For the spray characteristics, visualization of spray was conducted to obtain the spray angle, and laser diffraction spectroscope (LDS) was used for the measurement of the droplet diameters. The results showed that the $D_{max}$, SMD and spray angle were decreased with increasing the bio-diesel blending rate and BD30 (30% bio-diesel blending rate) could be found to be the maximum blending rate for using without any modification of the gun type burner of the homesize kerosene fuel boiler.

  • The multifamily housing has various advantages in construction cost, land-use intensity. KRIHS(1997) recommended the proper scale of th multifamily housing as 800 households in constructability, 1,000 households in facility compactability, 500 households in social aspect. At the early planning stage of project, the size of the multiftmily housing has, until now, been maximizingly considered under the regulation on which has been emphasized at the building volume ratio, land area, etc., except for the expenditure during the maintenance stage. This paper aimed at providing the proper size of multifamily housing in aspect of area and household number with maintenance cost at the early stage of project. For these, it took 곧 average cost function which is made from the 3-rd quardratic form and analyzes the unit increasing rate of the average cost. It surveyed in nationwide focused on the central heating system using diesel and kerosene. The number of samples is 88 and items of management cost is 11. The results are as follows ; first, 3rd-order quadratic function is proper at explaining the cost variation, considering the multicollinearity and statistics. Second, the proper size of multifamily housing is recommended with 83,000 $m^2$ on management area, 820 or over the 2,630 household number in aspect of total management cost.

안정적인 SOFC 운전을 위한 디젤 개질기 내 미반응 저탄화수소 제거법 (Methodology for removing unreacted low-hydrocarbons in diesel reformate for stable operation of solid oxide fuel cells)

  • In this paper, new concept of the diesel fuel processing is introduced for the stable operation of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs). Heavier hydrocarbons than $CH_4$, such as ethylene, ethane, propane, and etc., induce the carbon deposition on anode of SOFCs. In the reformate of heavy hydrocarbons (diesel, gasoline, kerosene, and JP-8), concentration of ethylene is usually higher than low hydrocarbons such as ethane, propane, and butane. So, removal of low hydrocarbons (over C1-hydrocarbons), especially ethylene, at the reformate gases is important for stable operation of SOFCs. New methodology as named "post-reformer" is introduced for removing the low hydrocarbons at the reformate gas stream. Catalyst of the NECS-PR4 is selected for post-reforming catalyst because the catalyst of NECS-PR4 shows the high selectivity for removing low hydrocarbons and achieving the high reforming efficiency. The diesel reformer and post-reformer are continuously operated for about 200 hours as integrated mode. The reforming performance is not degraded and low hydrocarbons in the diesel reformate are completely removed.

Structural change and asymmetry analysis of petroleum product prices in Korea

  • This paper examines structural breaks and asymmetries of prices of four domestic petroleum products, i.e., gasoline, kerosene, diesel, and bunker-C, following the changes in the pricing policies pertaining to petroleum products in Korea from the government-controlled pricing system to the market pricing system. We use the monthly wholesale market price data for the sample period between July 1988 and December 2001. Using the four methods: the Chow test, the CUSUM/CUSUMQ tests, the Bayesian approach and the Dufour test, the structural behaviors of the petroleum product prices are examined. We found that structural change occurred in all petroleum products, with the exception of Kerosene, at the point of pricing policy change from government-controlled to the spot-price related pricing system. We, also conducted asymmetric analysis using the Borenstein, Cameron, and Gilbert (1997)'s model and found evidences of price asymmetry for all four product types, but in different pattern for each product.
