수중운동 프로그램이 골관절염을 가진 여성노인의 통증, 피로, 체중, 유연성에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of Aquatic Exercise Program on Pain, Body Weight, Fatigue, Flexibility in Elderly Women with Osteoarthritis)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of aquatic exercise program on pain, body weight, fatigue, flexibility in elderly women with osteoarthritis. Methods: The subjects of the study were sixty nine elderly women(age over 65years)who have an osteoarthritis. Aquatic exercise program consist of approximately one hour of exercise in water, two days per week, for six weeks. Data were gathered from September 2002 to August 2004 using a questionnaire and measuring body weight, flexibility of shoulder.. Data were analyzed with the SPSS Win 10.0 using frequency and paired t-test for differences between pre-exercise and post-exercise. Results: The results of this study are as follows: pain score, fatigue, body weight of post test were lower than those of pre test(t=5.587, p=0.000 ; t=3.394, p=0.001 ; t=4.664, p=0.000). Right and left flexibility scores of post test were better than those of pretest(Left: t=4.736, p=0.000 ; righrt: t=4.733, p=0.000). Conclusion: From these results, it is concluded that the aquatic exercise program can be effective in increasing physical and psychological function in elderly women.

베하스(BeHaS)운동프로그램이 중년여성의 상지기능에 미치는 효과 (Effects of BeHaS Exercise Program on The Upper Body Function in Middle-aged Women)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of BeHaS exercise program on the upper body function(muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility) in middle-aged women. Method: Middle-aged women were recruited in the community the study was conducted from August 2005 to December 2005. Twenty-two experimental subjects were selected from P area, eighteen control subjects were selected from A area. The experimental group carried out the program two times a week for 12 weeks. Muscle strength(grip strength, pinch strength), muscle endurance (push-up), flexibility were measured. Data were analyzed with $x^2$-test, t-test, and ANCOVA using SPSS WIN 11.5. Results: 1) Left grip strength and right pinch strength of the experimental group were significant differences after the BeHaS exercise program. 2)Muscle endurance of the experimental group(t=3.14, p=0.015) was significant difference after the BeHaS exercise program. 3) Left and right flexibility showed no significant differences after the BeHaS exercise program. Conclusion: The results suggest that BeHaS exercise program would partially improve upper body function of middle-aged women. Further studies are necessary in order to determine the effects of flexibility after BeHaS exercise program.

자조타이치 프로그램이 삶의 질, 건강지각, 관절 유연성, 악력 및 균형감에 미치는 효과 (Effect of Self-help Tai Chi for Arthritis on the Quality of Life, Health Perception, Joint Flexibility, Grasping Power, and Balance)

  • Purpose: There has been a need to integrating the self-help program for arthritis with the TaiChi for arthritis patient. The purpose of this study was to develop and to examine the effect of the Self-help and Tai Chi for arthritis (SHTCA) program for arthritis. Method: This study was designed non equivalent control group pre-post test, quasi-experimental design. A total 40 participants were recruited in W-city, 29 participants(14-experimental group and 15-control group) completed post test. The experimental group participated in the SHTCA once a week for 8 weeks. SHTCA program was consisted of understanding of the arthritis, contracting of the promise, exercise for muscle strength and joint flexibility and 8 movements of Tai Chi exercise. Coloring plus program to cellular phone was used to encourage the exercise and participation by the KT-SHUT twice a week. Measures used to examine the effect of the SHTCA were EQ-5D standardized five dimensions(mobility, self-care, usual activities, pain & discomfort, and anxiety & depression), and health perception, joint flexibility, grasping power, and balance. Collected data was analyzed by SPSS WIN 14.0. Results: The experimental group had significantly increased the EQ-mobility(p=.033), health perception(p=.000), right shoulder flexibility(p=.007), and left shoulder flexibility(p=.002) compared to the control group. In addition, pain was decreased(p=.052) and right grip was increased(p=.052) after 8 weeks program in the experimental group. Conclusion: This SHTCA using coloring plus program was found partially effective and satisfactory. We recommended further research on the effect of this SHTCA effects.

승마기구 운동이 허리 유연성에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Mechanical Horseback-Riding Exercise on Lumbar Flexibility)

  • 본 연구는 승마 기구 운동이 인체의 유연성에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 20세 이상이 성인 20명을 대상으로 8주간 승마 기구 운동을 시행하였다. 실험 결과 허리 관절운동범위는 굴곡-신전 범위가 실험 전 평균 120.2°에서 평균 132.5°로 증가하였으며 측방굴곡 범위는 평균 65.8°에서 평균 67.3°로 증가, 연성 측정검사(Sit and reach Test)에서 실험 전 2.94mm에서 4.97mm로 증가하였다. 허리의 굴곡과 신전 시 관절의 가동범위가 증가함을 알 수 있었으며, 측방굴곡의 범위도 증가함에 따라 인체의 유연성이 증가되었음을 알 수 있었다. 이를 확인하기 위해 유연성 검사를 진행 결과 승마 기구 운동이 인체에 허리 통증을 예방하고 유연성을 증가시키는 하나의 물리치료적 중재 방안이라고 생각하며, 요통과 같은 질환자뿐만 아니라 건강한 일반인에게도 건강증진 차원에서 활용할 수 있는 방안이라고 제시하고자 한다.

새로운 체전굴 측정 방법의 개발 (Development of The New Instrument for Measuring of Trunk-Hip Forward Flexion)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 간단하고 실용적이며, 타당성, 신뢰성, 객관성이 높은 체전굴 유연성 측정 도구를 개발하는데 있으며, D여자 대학교의 스포츠학 전공 여대생 44명이 자발적으로 연구의 피검자로 참여하였다. 새 측정 도구의 신뢰도와 객관도 검사는 재검법의 평균 측정값을 사용하여 이원 혼합효과 모델에 의한 급내 상관 계수를 산출하였다. 검사자별 1차와 2차의 급내 상관 계수는 L은 R = .994, Y는 R=.993, 1차와 2차 검사의 L과 Y검사자간 급내 상관 계수는 R = .985, R=.986으로 모두 상관도가 아주 높은 것으로 나타났다. 새로 개발한 체전굴 측정 도구의 타당도 검증을 위하여 Leighton-flexometer-tests의 원리를 이용한 Takei 의 flexometer를 준거 검사 도구로 사용하였으며, 1차 검사와 2차 검사에서의 새로운 체전굴 유연성 측정 도구와 준거 검사 도구 측정값의 Pearson 적률 상관계수는 각각 r = .962와 r = .960로 1, 2차 검사 모두 아주 높은 상관도를 나타냈다. 결론적으로 본 연구에서 새로 개발한 체전굴 검사는 타당도, 신뢰도, 객관도가 매우 높고 실용적인 것으로 평가될 수 있음이 밝혀졌다.

산업용 로봇의 유연관절 제어기 설계: Part 2 - 진동억제 제어 및 게인스케듈링 (Controller Design for Flexible Joint of Industrial Robots: Part 2 - Vibration Suppression Control and Gain-Scheduling)

  • Increasing requirements for the high quality of industrial robot performance made the vibration control issue very important because the vibration makes it difficult to achieve quick response of robot motion and may bring mechanical damage to the robot. This paper presents a vibration control solution for industrial robots which have flexible joints. The joint flexibility is modeled as a two-mass system. And we analyze the vibration problem of a classical P-PI controller when it used for the flexible joints of industrial robots. Then a state feedback controller is designed for vibration suppression of the two-mass system. Finally, a gain-scheduling method is designed for maintaining control performance in spite of the time-varying nature of each joint's load side inertia. Simulation and experimental results show effective vibration suppression and uniform properties in overshoot in spite of the variation of load. The result of this study can be applied to the appropriate gain manipulation of many other mechatronic devices which have the two-mass system with varying load side inertia.

관절염 대상자를 위한 건강증진 프로그램의 효과 -보건진료소를 중심으로- (The Effect of Health Promotion Program on Health of the Clients with Arthritis in Primary Health Care Center)

  • A quasi-experimental study was conducted to investigate the effects of health promotion program on health of the clients with arthritis. In this study. the health promotion program consisted of self appointment and confirmation. discussion, health education. group counsel, and exercise. And the program focused on self - help group meeting. A total of 68 subjects was randomly assigned into either the control group(n = 24) or the intervention group(n =44). The results of the study analyzed using a SPSS win, were as follows: 1) In physical function of physical health. there was a significant improvement in flexibility of the shoulder joint(hold the hand upward and downward behind the back). sit and reach, extension of the knee joint in the intervention group, compared to the control group, while no difference in flexibility of the shoulder joint(raising the arm), flexion of the knee joint, and grip strength. There was a significant improvement in physical functional disability in the intervention group, compared to the control group, but no difference in fatigue and pain. 2) The health promotion program resulted in improvement in psychosocial health(e.g. increase of self-efficacy and decreases of social functional disability) in the intervention group, compared to the control group. It was concluded that the health promotion program(weekly session for 6 weeks) employed in this study was appropriate for the clients with arthritis in primary health care center and had a positive effect on health in general.

연속적 능동무릎폄 검사가 뒤넙다리근의 유연성에 미치는 영향 (Influence of successive active knee extension tests on hamstring flexibility)

  • Background: In clinical practice, active knee extension (AKE) test has been widely used to measure hamstring flexibility. During the AKE test, the knee extension is repeated six times. The first five repetitions are considered as warm-up, and the sixth is used as baseline. In order to accurately measure the subject's inherent flexibility, warm-up trials have been proposed as mentioned above; but currently, the evidence is insufficient. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Forty-three healthy adults participated in this study. The AKE was performed slowly after flexing the hip and knee joints by 90° in a supine position. The knee was extended as far as could be done without causing discomfort or pain. When reaching the end range, knee flexion was performed without stopping. As per standard protocol, the subjects performed the knee extension six times. Results: There was no significant difference between the AKE value in the first trial with those in the other five trials. During the repetitions, the average value in the group with higher flexibility tended to decrease and the Intraclass correlation coefficient gradually decreased. Conclusion: Successive repetitions of the AKE test can misrepresent an individual's inherent hamstring flexibility. In order to avoid a decrease in hamstring flexibility, it is strongly recommended that individuals with high initial hamstring flexibility avoid unnecessary repetitions of the AKE test.

The Effect of Soleus Passive Stretching on the Range of Motion of the Ankle Joint

  • In this study, 20 men and women in their 20s were divided into a footboard passive stretching group and a manual passive stretching group. After stretching was applied to the soleus for 5 weeks, a comparative analysis was performed on the range of motion(ROM) of the ankle joint to determine changes in the flexibility of the soleus. Both the footboard stretching group and manual stretching group first performed stretching for 15 sec, followed by a 10-sec break. One set consisted of performing the above process twice consecutively, and each group had to perform five sets in total. A goniometer was used as a measuring instrument. The results of the experiment were analyzed using a nonparametric analysis, Wilcoxon signed rank test, and Mann-Whitney test. SPSS WIN 18.0 was employed for the statistical analysis. In terms of the comparison of the flexibility before and after the experiment according to the different interventions, the application of footboard stretching to the soleus for 5 weeks resulted in $3.2^{\circ}$ right dorsiflexion (p=.009), $6.98^{\circ}$ right plantar flexion(p=.008), $4.14^{\circ}$ left dorsiflexion(p=.005), and $10.97^{\circ}$ left plantar flexion(p=.007), which were all statistically significant increases. The application of manual stretching led to $6.04^{\circ}$ right dorsiflexion(p=.005), $12.14^{\circ}$ right plantar flexion(p=.005), $7.00^{\circ}$ left dorsiflexion (p=.008), and $16.38^{\circ}$ left plantar flexion(p=.005). Therefore, both footboard stretching and manual stretching were effective in enhancing the flexibility of the soleus. However, statistically significant larger increases in the ROM of the ankle joint were observed in the manual stretching group.

Robust Control Design for Robots with Flexible Joint and Link

  • In this work, we consider the flexible manipulator system. Generally, the manipulator system may often be made on the base of the imperfect modeling, joint friction, payload change, and external disturbances. These elements are uncertain factors. These uncertainties and flexibility make difficult to control the system. To overcome these defects, a class of robust control law is proposed for the flexible manipulator system and the singular perturbation approach is applied. To show the effectiveness of this control law, simulation is presented for one degree of freedom flexible joint and flexible link system.
