Korean Expatriates Adjustments and Job Satisfaction in Malaysia: Analysis of Corporate Cultural Asymmetry

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to discover how Korean expatriates that are currently employed in Korean subsidiaries operational in Malaysia possibly suffer from career dissatisfaction due to differences between Korean Corporate Culture (KCC) and Malaysian Corporate Culture (MCC). The integration of KCC into MCC is discussed. Research design, data, and methodology - The analysis herein is via a qualitative research. Forty-six interviewees voluntarily participated in in-depth interviews. Document analysis and qualitative interviews were utilized to develop participant profiles and to generate the framework. Interview data were transcribed and subsequently analysed to facilitate the development of themes and ultimately led to emerging patterns. The framework discusses the following Confucian pillars pronounced in KCC: Control Systems, Power Structures, Organisational Structures, Authority and Harmony and Stories and Myths. Those pillars are analysed and the results of the interviews are discussed in detail. Results - Korean expatriates on assignment in Malaysia endure struggles in all five selected Confucian pillars as they are not symmetrical with Korean Corporate Culture common at head companies in Korea. Conclusion - As a consequence, there is substantial disharmony which needs to be rectified if Korean companies are to continue their 'miraculous' economic movement into the country.

영남지역 방사선사의 초음파검사 직무특성 분석 (Analysis of Job Characteristics for Ultrasound Examination of Radiological Technologists in Yeongnam Area)

  • 본 연구는 영남지역에서 초음파검사를 담당하고 있는 방사선사를 대상으로 직무특성을 분석하였다. 연구에 사용한 측정도구는 설문지로 2021년 08월01일부터 11월30일까지 영남지역에 소재하는 의료기관에서 초음파검사를 담당하는 방사선사를 대상으로 하였다. 코로나19 상황을 감안하여 비대면 방식으로 e-mail, SNS 등을 이용하여 연구에 적합한 158부를 SPSS/PC Ver 18.0 프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였다. 연구대상자의 일반적 특성과 초음파검사자의 직무특성을 기술통계, 신뢰도분석, t-test, 분산분석, 상관관계, 회귀분석으로 실시하였다. 영남지역에서 초음파검사를 담당하는 방사선사의 직무특성을 전체 직무만족수준으로 분석한 결과 직무만족수준은 3.24 ± 0.61로 나타났다. 평균 3.0점 보다 높은 수준으로, 직무특성요인이 직무만족에 미치는 영향에서는 전문적 지위, 자존감, 신뢰관계 형성이 높게 나타났다. 그러나 보상과 업무의 적절성에서는 불만족하는 요인으로 파악되었다. 그러므로 영남지역에서 초음파검사를 담당하는 방사선사의 직무특성과 만족수준을 향상시키기 위해서는 의료기관의 적절한 업무환경개선과 초음파검사를 담당하는 방사선사의 지속적인 전문성확보를 위한 노력에 최선을 다하여야 할 것이다.

응급구조(학)과 학생의 전공선택 동기와 전공만족도 및 직업관 (The Motivation of selecting major, the satisfaction of major and view of occupation for EMT students)

  • Purpose: We investigated the motivation of selecting major, the satisfaction of major and the view on occupation of emergency medical technology (EMT) students. The results of study will be used to increase the satisfaction of major of university students. Also, it can be used to support decision of major for high school students. Method: We conducted 1,586 surveys from 665 students at six four-year colleges and 921 students at seven three-year colleges. Our research period was from Aug. 27th to Oct. 31st in 2010. The surveys were analyzed by SPSS 18.0 using description statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe and Pearson correlation coefficient. Result: In our study, the motivation of selecting major is 35.8% of students selected 'good employment prospects', satisfaction of major's $M{\pm}SD$ is $3.15{\pm}.486$, adaptation of major's $M{\pm}SD$ is $3.11{\pm}.472$. The satisfaction of major show difference (t = 4.548 p = .000) by sex, also the adaptation of major show difference (t = 2.279, p = .023) by sex. The satisfaction of major show first grade students higher (F = 3.605, p = .013) than fourth grade students at four-year colleges. If satisfaction of major is high, accumulation evaluation score is high (F = 3.276, p = .011), too. Clinical practice experienced students was higher (t = -2.878, p = .004) than non experienced it satisfaction. In view of occupation, ideal job's factors and actual job's factors a lot of students selected 'aptitude'. Also, there is a statistically significant correlation (r = .618, p = .000) between the satisfaction of major and the adaptation of major. High satisfaction indicates high adaptation of major. Conclusion: In our study satisfaction of major and adaptation of major was very high score. EMT students concern about employment prospects at most. It is inferred that they select job which match with one's aptitude. We can suppose that students select major as a tool for employment by seeing result that a lot of students consider employment prospects at most when they select major. A method to improve the satisfaction and adaptation of major should be developed by realizing problems which occur the dissatisfaction of major. Also, there as on why students conflict between ideal and actual job should be revealed. There as on seems students want stable occupation in unstable job market situation. Therefore, the expansion of job matching aptitude and being stable should be processed. Finally, university should actively support the method that help to finding jobs for student by identifying job preparation of students.

119 구급대원의 직무만족도와 그의 관련요인 (Job Satisfaction and Its Related Factors among 119 Rescue Workers)

  • 본 연구는 119구급대원의 인구사회학적특성, 건강관련행위특성, 직업관련 특성, 폭력경험, 소진 및 직무스트레스에 따른 직무만족도 수준을 알아보고, 폭력경험, 소진 및 직무스트레스와 직무만족도와의 관련성을 규명하고자 시도하였다. 조사대상은 전국 14개 소방서에 근무하고 있는 119구급대원 1,240명으로 하였으며, 조사는 2016년 3월 1일부터 4월 30일까지의 기간 동안에 구조화된 무기명 자기기입식 설문조사에 의하였다. 연구결과, 조사대상자의 인구사회학적 및 건강관련행위특성에 따른 직무만족도는 연령이 낮을수록, 기혼군보다 미혼군에서, 규칙적인 운동을 한다는 군보다 하지 않는다는 군에서, 여가시간이 있다는 군보다 없다는 군에서, 주관적인 수면의 질이 좋다는 군보다 좋지 않다는 군에서, 주관적인 건강상태가 좋다는 군보다 좋지 않다는 군에서 유의하게 낮았다. 직업관련특성에 따른 직무만족도는 직위가 낮을수록, 근무경력이 짧을수록, 월수입이 낮을수록, 업무의 신체적 부담정도가 적당하다는 군보다 힘들다는 군에서, 업무에 만족한다는 군보다 만족하지 못한다는 군에서, 업무에 대한 적성이 맞는다는 군보다 맞지 않는다는 군에서, 직업전환의사가 없다는 군보다 있다는 군에서 유의하게 낮았다. 또한, 조사대상자의 직무만족도 점수는 폭력경험, 직무스트레스 및 소진이 높은 군일수록 유의하게 낮았으며, 직무만족도가 낮은 군에 속할 위험비는 폭력경험, 직무스트레스 및 소진이 낮은 군에 비해 높은 군으로 갈수록 유의하게 증가하였다. 위와 같은 연구결과는 119구급대원의 직무만족도는 인구사회학적 및 건강관련행위 특성이나 직업관련 특성뿐만 아니라 직무스트레스, 폭력경험 및 소진과도 유의한 관련성이 있음을 시사하고 있다.

소규모 가족기업의 경영실태진단 (A Diagnoses on the Actual Management States of Small Family Businesses)

  • This study examines the real states of family businesses through the interview to the owners and their family members of 15 family businesses. Contents of the interview are starting process, goal and long-run plan, marketing, human resource management and financial management. Many owners usually start their business because of unemployment or shortage of job opportunity. So they dont have an business experience or management skill. And owners act passively in sales because they think the sales area is restricted and their stores are well-known. Family members, especially housewives, suffer role conflict and dissatisfaction because there are no rules on wage and responsibility. And many owners use the resource of household to business and vice versa. This is an advantage of family business in the viewpoint of effective use of resource, but it is a confusion of resources in the viewpoint of financial management.

산업체 현장 실습의 활성화 방안에 관한 연구 - 현장 실습 관련 선행연구를 중심으로 - (The Study of "How to Activate Industrial Field Training Internships" - Focused on Former Researches Related to Field Training-)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand how to activate field training internships through former researches related to training internships. The concept of field training is the same as education of work experience. Students have experienced the skills of practical jobs in the tourism industry and could enhance acquisition of professional theories. According to domestic former researches, students who participated in hotel field practice hardly satisfied with internships due to unreasonable duties, burdens and circumstances regardless of efficiency of school curriculum. Also, they showed dissatisfaction with compensation. However, foreign studies have only focused on communication between hotels and schools. Finally, in order to activate industrial field training internships, schools and hotels have more delicate harmonization to address training internship problems. In addition, promoting field training internships must include proper incentives and must be supported by school. And also the hotel management must offer incentives to the students who are under field training internships in the hotel. From internship programs, students could get much more benefits in hotel job application.

일부 대학병원 근로자의 파업성향과 파업참여 행동결정 요인 (Determinant Factors on the Strike among Hospital Laborer in Korea)

  • The aim of this study is to analyze determinant factor on the strike action among hospital laborer in Korea. We collected data for 10days from 12 to 22 July, 2013. This study was surveyed 405 laborer in university hospital was located in the Seoul city and Gyeonggi-do. It was found as follow. There was statistically significant difference in the strike propensity and sub-domain on the job dissatisfaction by sex, age, education, wedding, occupation, position, salary, number of years of employment, position in labor union for strike action(p<0.05). From the multiple regression analysis, it was found that determinant factor on the strike action was occupation, strike propensity(sense of duty, after vote, depend on compensation) which was statistically significant difference(p<0.05). As a result, we suggest that hospital administrator must solve the problem related welfare benefits and personnel system in university hospital for preventing strike.

부부갈등이 자녀학대에 미치는 영향 (The Influence of Marital Conflict on Child Abuse)

  • The purpose of the study is to examine the realities of the child abuse, to analyze the relation between marital conflict and child abuse, and to screen their causes. For the data set 521 elementary school children and mothers living in pusan were chosen. The data were analyzed with the SPSS statistical package using $X^2$, the one-way ANOVA. the factor analysis, and the path analysis. The main results are as follows. Frist, in most of families there are child abuse. Second, among family environmental variables, the father's dissatisfaction with job, the family's social-economic status, violence observation, violence experience influence the child abuse. Third, marital conflict influences marital violence and child abuse, marital violence influences child abuse.

설문조사 분석을 활용한 제조업 작업자의 위험행동 요인 분석 (Survey-Based Analysis of Risky Behavior Factors of Manufacturing Workers)

  • 제조업 작업자들에 대한 위험행동 요인의 분석은 효과적인 휴먼에러 예방과 효율적인 안전관리제도의 시스템화를 가능하게 한다. 본 연구는 작업자들의 작업심리, 작업환경, 작업일탈 요인이 위험행동의도에 미치는 영향과 이러한 위험행동의도가 위험행동에 미치는 영향의 관계를, 중소 제조업 중 제조가공업 작업자 80명을 대상으로, 설문조사를 중심으로 분석하였다. 결과를 살펴보면, 작업심리와 작업일탈은 위험행동의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났으나, 직무만족과 작업부하에 해당하는 작업환경요인은 위험행동의도에 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 동료들과의 관계, 업무의 만족 내지는 불만족 정도, 작업자가 느끼는 직무의 중요성 정도와 많은 작업량을 소화하기 위한 시간의 촉박함 등이 의도적인 위험 작업 유발에는 영향을 미치지 않지만, 위험행동에는 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나, 의도성이 결여된 상태에서 작업환경요인은 위험행동을 수반하는 것으로 나타났다.
