In this paper, we presented non-uniform quantization method for LDPC decoder specified in DVB-S2 standard. There are some problems in order to implement LDPC decoder in aspect to algorithm and implementation. In algorithm aspect, because of large number of iterations, LDPC decoding in general give rise to a large number of computation operations, mass power consumption, and decoding delay. Therefore, this paper studies Horizontal Shuffle Scheduling (HSS) algorithm which reduced iteration number without performance loss. In aspect of implementation, there are some solutions to improve the decoding speed, however this paper focused on non-uniform quantization which reduce the quantization bits of LDPC decoder. In simulation results, Decoding throughput of HSS LDPC decoder based on non-uniform quantization is 816Mbps and it improved 12% compared to conventional one.
In this paper, we propose a new relevance feedback algorithm using Probabilistic Neural Networks(PNN) while supporting multi-class learning. Then, to validate the effectiveness of our feedback approach, we incorporate the proposed algorithm into our region-based image retrieval tool, FRIP(Finding Regions In the Pictures). In our feedback approach, there is no need to assume that feature vectors are independent, and as well as it allows the system to insert additional classes for detail classification. In addition, it does not have a long computation time for training because it only has four layers. In the PNN classification process, we store the user's entire past feedback actions as a history in order to improve performance for future iterations. By using a history, our approach can capture the user's subjective intension more precisely and prevent retrieval performance errors which originate from fluctuating or degrading in the next iteration. The efficacy of our method is validated using a set of 3000 images derived from a Corel-photo CD.
Concentrated stresses due to the underground tunnel excavation easily cause many problems such as yielding, popping, and failure at the immediate roof, wall and floor of tunnel. Therefore, it is very important to predict the possibility of these problems when a tunnel is excavated underground. There are two typical methods to predict these problems. The one is to predict problems from the analysis of field monitoring data and the other is to predict them from computer simulations using good site investment data. Using the second method, this study attempted to describe the time-dependent or progressive manner of immediate roof and wall due to the underground tunnel excavation. An iterative technique was used to represent progressive failure of rockmass with the Hoek and Brown theory. By developing and simulating three different shapes of twin tunnels, this research estimated the proper size of critical pillar width between tunnels, distributed stresses on the tunnel walls, and convergences of tunnel crowns. Moreover, results out of progressive failure technique based on the Hoek and Brown theory were compared with the results out of Mohr-Coulomb theory.

A mooring system can be applied to keep the position of a floating structures. In this study, the structural analysis is carried out to analyze the dynamic characteristics of a mooring line for a floating breakwater. A three-dimensional equations of motion for a submerged chain are derived. Bending stiffness is considered for the necessary restoring force in the regions of zero tension. A fortran program is to be developed by employing finite difference method. In the algorithm, an implicit time integration and Newton-Raphson iteration are adopted. The results of simulation show good agreement in tension response pattern with the experimental results of a reference. The results of this study can contribute for the design of mooring system for a floating breakwater.

This paper presents a iterative Bose-Chaudhuri-hocquenghem (i-BCH) code and its high-speed decoder architecture for 100 Gb/s optical communications. The proposed architecture features a very high data processing rate as well as excellent error correction capability. The proposed 6-iteration i-BCH code structure with interleaving method allows the decoder to achieve 9.34 dB net coding gain performance at $10^{-15}$ decoder output bit error rate to compensate for serious transmission quality degradation. The proposed high-speed i-BCH decoder architecture is synthesized using a 90-nm CMOS technology. It can operate at a clock frequency of 430 MHz and achieve a data processing rate of 100 Gb/s. Thus, it has potential applications in next generation forward error correction (FEC) schemes for 100 Gb/s optical communications.

In an effort to improve the convergence speed in k-means clustering, we introduce the notion of the birds' movement in a flock. Their motion is characterized by the observation that each bird runs after his nearest neighbor. We utilize this feature in clustering procedure. Once the class of a vector is determined, then a number of vectors in the vicinity of it are assigned to the same class. Experiments have shown that the required number of iterations for termination is significantly lower in the proposed method than in the conventional one. Furthermore, the time of calculation per iteration is more than 5% shorter in the proposed case. The quality of the clustering, as determined from the total accumulated distance between the vector and its centroid vector, was found to be practically the same. It might be phrased that we may acquire practically the same clustering result with shorter computational time.
An efficient segregated algorithm for the coupling of velocity and pressure of incompressible fluid flow, called IDEAL Inner Doubly-Iterative Efficient Algorithm for Linked-Equations), has been proposed by the present authors. In the algorithm there exist double inner iterative processes for pressure equation at each iteration level, which almost completely overcome two approximations in SIMPLE algorithm. Thus the coupling between velocity and pressure is fully guaranteed, greatly enhancing the convergence rate and stability of solution process. The performance of the IDEAL algorithm for three-dimensional incompressible fluid flow and heat transfer problems is analyzed and a systemic comparison is made between the algorithm and three other most widely-used algorithms (SIMPLER, SIMPLEC and PISO). It is found that the IDEAL algorithm is the most robust and the most efficient one among the four algorithms compared. This new algorithm is used for the velocity prediction of a new interface capturing method. VOSET, also proposed by the present author. It is found that the combination of VOSET and IDEAL can appreciably enhance both the interface capture accuracy and convergence rate of computations.
The purpose of this study is to analyze modern fashion culture in the 20th century through changes in transmedia in order to better understand characteristics of fashion contents. The study also strived to identify the characteristics of remediation in modern fashion and media by exploring the cultural code, and use it to establish an integrated view. The subjects and the method of the study are as follows. First, the study analyzed the development of transmedia and fashion culture since the 20th century. Second, it identified the transitional characteristics of transmedia. Third, the study analyzed the characteristics of remediation in modern fashion culture by using the characteristics of mediation, which appeared with the transitional characteristics of transmedia. The study results are as follows. First, the types of remediation are 'borrowing,' 'Representation,' 'Expansion,' 'Refashion,' and 'Absorb.' In old and new media, each type can be aesthetically experienced in 'transparency,' opaqueness,' 'Hypermediacy,' and 'Immediacy.' Second, fashion culture can undergo a transformation from its original form to a second and a third iteration, and this process allows for possibility of an expansion of multiple plots and well-rounded character settings. This opens up the possibility for fashion consumer participation, and signifies a transition into an environment where expansion of time and space is possible. The third finding is the non-mediation of fashion objects. The mediating relationship between clothes and media is directly connected to the development of new media. The immersion of new media by fashion consumers has the characteristics of 'transparency'/'Non-mediation,' and the reinterpretation and reproduction of original fashion styles have the characteristics of 'opaqueness'/'Hyper-mediation.' Fourth, fashion culture has data variability. Through 'Borrowing,' 'Representation,' 'Expansion,' 'Remodeling,' and 'Absorption,' the cultural hierarchy of reproduced fashion forms a multi-layered integrated network. Mediation code, which repurposes fashion culture contents, also creates new media fashion through transmedia.

In this paper, the supersonic flows around space launch vehicles have been numerically simulated by using a 3-D RANS flow solver. The focus of the study was made for investigating plume-induced flow separation(PIFS). For this purpose, a vertex-centered finite-volume method was utilized in conjunction with 2nd-order Roe's FDS to discretize the inviscid fluxes. The viscous fluxes were computed based on central differencing. The Spalart-Allmaras model was employed for the closure of turbulence. The Gauss-Seidel iteration was used for time integration. To validate the flow solver, calculation was made for the 0.04 scale model of the Saturn-5 launch vehicle at the supersonic flow condition without exhaust plume, and the predicted results were compared with the experimental data. Good agreements were obtained between the present results and the experiment for the surface pressure coefficient and the Mach number distribution inside the boundary layer. Additional calculations were made for the real scale of the Saturn-5 configuration with exhaust plume. The flow characteristics were analyzed, and the PIFS distances were validated by comparing with the flight data. The KSLV-1 is also simulated at the several altitude conditions. In case of the KSLV-1, PIFS was not observed at all conditions, and it is expected that PIFS is affected by the nozzle position.
