The pupose of this study is to investigate the effect of irrational relationship beliefs on marital duality of married men and women and to find out what sub-scales of irrational relationship beliefs have effect on marital quality. The data were collected from 301 married men and 302 married women living with their unmarried children in the metropolitan area around Seoul. All the respondents were asked to answer the self-reporting questionnaires. The analysis includes frequencies, means, 1-test, one-way ANOVA, Duncan test, and hierarchical multiple regression models. the major findings are as follows. 1) The level of irrational relationship beliefs is below the average, and the married women show slightly higher level of irrational relationship beliefs than the men. On the other hand, the level of marital quality of the married men and women is slightly above the average with no difference between the men and the women. 2) In the case of the married men, the sub-scales of irrational relationship beliefs that have significantly negative effect on the marital quality are 'partners cannot change', 'disagreement is destructive,' and 'sexes are different' 3) In the case of the married women, the sub-scales of irrational relationship beliefs that have significantly negative effect on the marital quality are 'partners cannot change' and 'disagreement is destructive' According to the result of this study, irrational relationship beliefs have negative effect on marital quality. However, the effect of each sub-scales shows slight differences in gender. The finding of this study suggests that a promoting marital promoting marital qualify by reducing the irrational relationship beliefs should take the gender differences into consideration.
This study examined the mediating effects of irrational beliefs on the relationships of middle school students' autonomy of psychological growth environment and behavioral anger responses(impulsive reaction, verbal aggression, physical confrontation and indirect expression). A sample of 346 first and second year students of middle school participated in the autonomy of psychological growth environment scale, the irrational beliefs scale and behavioral anger responses scale. Pearson's correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed. The results showed that: ⑴ The relations among autonomy of psychological growth environment, irrational beliefs and behavioral anger responses were significant. The autonomy of psychological growth environment had negative correlations with irrational beliefs and behavioral anger responses. Irrational beliefs produced positive correlations with behavioral anger responses. There were positive correlations among the subtypes of behavioral anger responses. ⑵ There were mediating effects of irrational beliefs between autonomy of psychological growth environment and behavioral anger responses. The effects of autonomy of psychological growth environment on impulsive reaction, physical confrontation and indirect expression were fully mediated by irrational beliefs. However, the effect of autonomy of psychological growth environment on verbal aggression was partially mediated by irrational beliefs. This study demonstrated that irrational beliefs mediate the relationship between autonomy of psychological growth environment and behavioral anger responses.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between irrational beliefs and job stress in kindergarten teachers and explore specific irrational beliefs that influence kindergarten teachers' job stress. One hundred ninety one kindergarten teachers participated in the study and completed Job Stress Scale and General Attitude and Belief Scale. Collected data were analyzed using Pearson Correlation Coefficient Analysis and Multiple Regression Analysis. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, on the whole irrational beliefs were significantly positively related to job stress. Second, Although Self-Degradation and Demands for Fairness significantly predicted Kindergarten teachers' job stress, Self-Degradation were the most influential irrational belief. Finally the theoretical and practical implication of the results were discussed with the suggestion of future research.
The purpose of the study is to examine the effects of adolescents' psychosocial characteristics and parental communication patterns on suicidal ideation. Participants were 520 first- and second- year high-school students in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. Questionnaires included items on suicidal ideation, irrational beliefs, depression, hopelessness, and parental communication patterns. Data were statistically analyzed through a t-test, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis, and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS for Win version 12.0. The major results were as follows: 1) Female adolescents had higher levels of irrational beliefs, depression, specific types of communication patterns from the father(placating) and suicidal ideation more than their male counterparts. The male adolescents showed more communication patterns from the father(blaming) than their female counterparts. 2) Depression, irrational beliefs, mothers' communication patterns (blaming), gender and hopelessness were significant predictors of adolescent suicidal ideation. 3) The adolescents' irrational beliefs had a mediating effect on the relationship between their suicidal ideation and dysfunctional parental communication.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of substance use experience with adolescents on the problem gambling and to verify moderating effect of irrational gambling beliefs. A part of data from Korea Center on Gambling Problems, in which 1,500 adolescents participated was analyzed. The research findings were as follows. First, among the demographics factors, sex, monthly allowance, among the independent variable, substance use experience and irrational gambling beliefs showed significant difference on problem gambling. Second, substance use experience and irrational gambling beliefs tended to increase problem gambling. Third, the interaction of substance use experience and irrational gambling beliefs moderated the relationship between substance use experience and problem gambling. Based on these results, this study discussed practical measures to manage substance use and to prevent problem gambling among adolescents.
The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of the implicit narcissism of unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s on the tolerance of violence in dating and the mediating effect of irrational relationship beliefs. To this end, major variables were measured through survey and statistical analysis was conducted on 215 unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s who had experience in dating violence. Hierarchical regression was used to analyse the mediated effects of irrational relational beliefs in the relationship between intrinsic self-love propensity and dating violence tolerance, and hypothesis testing showed that introspective self-love affects the tolerance of dating violence. It was also found that irrational relationships were completely intertwined between implicit narcissism and dating violence tolerance. The results of these studies indicate that irrational interrelationships only affect the tolerance of dating violence. The results of this study are suggestive in that it can contribute to the development of counseling and education programs that can prevent dating violence by proving the mediating effect of irrational relationship beliefs about violence tolerance.
The aims of this study were 1) to compare irrational gambling beliefs of gamblers and non-gamblers, 2) to investigate the role of cognitive error on winning probability thinking error, and 3) to examine the relationship between attributional bias and gambling behavior. A total of 248 subjects were recruited for this study. All subjects were classified into non-gamblers, social gamblers and pathological gamblers, and administered self-report questionnaires to measure irrational gambling beliefs, the probability inference error, the attriburional style, and the attributional bias. A pathological gambler group scored highest on irrational gambling beliefs, especially the overestimation of self-ability factor, and a social gambler group and a non-gambler group follow. All three groups scored higher on the magnification of gambling skills than the mean (4.0) of the scale. Pathological gamblers and social gamblers scored higher on the probability thinking error than non-gamblers. Pathological gamblers displayed higher external attribution, lower internal attribution in their daily life events and higher internal attribution in failure situation than social gamblers and non-gamblers. The results indicate that cognitive errors would be a factor that differentiates pathological gamblers from social gamblers and non-gamblers. In predicting gambling behaviors, overestimation of self-ability of irrational gambling beliefs, internal attribution in failure situation, external attribution in daily live event, and probability thinking error were identified as significant factors. It is concluded that a public education about common cognitive bias featured in gamblers might be important in prevention of pathological gambling behaviors.
This study aims to investigate mediating effect of teenagers' spirituality on the relationship between Irrational Beliefs and self-esteem. For research, questionnaires were distributed to 500 teenagers aged 14 to 19. And data were collected from 419 persons. The average age of subjects was 15.8. The collected data verify by structural equation model. As a result, it was shown that the first research model was not good. Hence, according to the results of modifying the model after referring to model modification index, the first modified model showed ${\chi}2=222.527$, df=83,p<.000, CFI=.975, TLI=.968, NFI=.961 and RMSEA=.061. Therefore, it was shown that the model was suitable. According to the results of analyzing the effect of model at this point, it was shown that the direct effect which unreasonable beliefs had on self-esteem was .02, and indirect effect through the mediation of spirituality was .30. Hence, it was verified that spirituality mediated the effect which unreasonable beliefs had on self-esteem. When this is considered, it is thought that, if the level of spirituality is improved, the negative effect which teenagers' unreasonable beliefs had on self-esteem will decrease, though the unreasonable beliefs have a negative effect on self-esteem.

We investigate whether the belief in good luck of stock traders influences their satisfaction with and their loyalty to a stock trading service. In particular, we tested whether the online stock traders who have irrational beliefs in good luck (e.g., I am a lucky person) (1) are satisfied with their online stock trading service more strongly and (2) stay with it longer than the online stock traders who have rational beliefs in good luck (e.g., luck does not exist). We have tested satisfaction, loyalty, and belief in good luck among 412 online stock traders and tested our two hypotheses. Our findings contribute to the academic research on service satisfaction and loyalty as well as provide implications to online stock trading service providers.
Purpose: The aim of this study is to review literature on anger management intervention programs for parents published over the last 10 years and to extract the key elements of the interventions through an integrative review. Methods: This research was carried out in stages following Whittemore and Knafl's integrative literature methodology. Key words in Korean and English were used to search the PubMed, MEDLINE, EMbase, CINAHL, RISS, KISS and National Assembly Library databases. Several intervention factors were extracted from the selected papers on the basis of the framework which was helpful to identify the intervention patterns and were classified into meaningful themes. Results: The extracted intervention factors from the final nine studies classified into four themes: 1) Modifying irrational beliefs through cognitive approaches, 2) Empowering parenting competencies through learning a parent's role, 3) Utilizing emotion management skills, and 4) Parent-child relationship improvement training based on self-reflection. Conclusion: Four main themes were drawn from the key components of the various interventions. These findings should be considered in practice, and further intervention development studies for parents using these findings should be conducted.
