The simple Langmuir isotherm is frequently employed to describe the equilibrium behavior of protein adsorption on a wide variety of adsorbents. The two adjustable parameters of the Langmuir isotherm - the saturation capacity, or $q_m$, and the dissociation constant, $K_d$ - are usually estimated by fitting the isotherm equation to the equilibrium data acquired from batch equilibration experiments. In this study, we have evaluated the possibility of estimating $q_m$ and $K_d$ for the adsorption of bovine serum albumin to a cation exchanger using batch kinetic data. A rate model predicated on the kinetic form of the Langmuir isotherm, with three adjustable parameters ($q_m,\;K_d$, and a rate constant), was fitted to a single kinetic profile. The value of $q_m$ determined as the result of this approach was quantitatively consistent with the $q_m$ value derived from the traditional batch equilibrium data. However, the $K_d$ value could not be retrieved from the kinetic profile, as the model fit proved insensitive to this parameter. Sensitivity analysis provided significant insight into the identifiability of the three model parameters.

In an effort to overcome the weakness of aerogel, polymer aerogels have been prepared by copolymerizing the different types of monomers through sol-gel process. Polymerizing the successive phase of a high internal phase emulsion, which has interconnected porous structure, porous polymer aerogel can be manufactured. In this paper, we use the styrene/divinylbenzene chain as a basic monomer structure, and additionally use 2-ethylhexyl methacrylate (2-EHMA) or 2-ethylhexyl acrylate (2-EHA) as monomers for distinguishing the visible mechanical properties of synthesized polymer aerogel. We can observe the different tendency of polymer aerogels by kinds of monomer or ratio. Flexibility and microstructure can be changed by the types of monomer. EHA polymer aerogel shows high flexibility and thin microstructure, and EHMA polymer aerogel shows high hardness and thick microstructure. EHA/EHMA polymer aerogel shows the intermediate nature between them. By utilizing the mechanical properties of three types of polymer aerogels to adequate situation or environment, polymer aerogels could be used as drug agent, ion exchange resin, oil filter and insulator, and so on.

$^{89}Zr$ with the favorable nuclear decay kinetics and chemical properties is an appealing radiometal for its application in immuno-PET using radiolabeled monoclonal antibodies. Rising demand of ultrahigh purity and high-specific activity $^{89}Zr$ has propelled the radiochemist worldwide to develop an overall efficacious method for its promising separation from the target matrix $^{89}Y$. The requirement of elevated radiochemical purity (${\geq}$ 99.99%) has accelerated the efforts since last two decades to achieve higher decontamination and separation factors of carrier free $^{89}Zr$ over $^{89}Y$ using several suitable separation techniques. However, each of the technique has its own pros and cons which prior to its actual medical application needs to be optimized and thoroughly scrutinized to avoid further complications during radiolabelling of the pharmaceuticals. In this short review article we will specifically consider as well focus on the historical development and the recent advances on the radiochemical separation of $^{89}Zr$ from $^{89}Y$ which will be helpful for the separation scientist involved in this area to understand the existing available means and plan the strategy to investigate and develop the novel techniques to overcome the problems involved in the present methods.

The objectives of this study were to evaluate the applicability of adsorption models for adsorption properties of adsorbents. For this study, adsorption experiment of $NO_3^-$ ion using anion exchange resin has been investigated under adsorption equilibrium and kinetic in bach process. Adsorption equilibrium experiment were carried out that two conditions is change of adsorbate concentration and change of adsorbent weight. Experiment results have been analyzed by adsorption isotherm models, energy models and kinetic models. Under the condition of change of adsorbate concentration was best described by Sips and Redlich-Perterson isotherm models. However case of change of adsorbent weight was described by Langmuir isotherm models. It seems reasonable to assume that isotherm model was dominated by multiple mechanism according to experiment condition.
Isotope amount ratios of lead in a bronze sample have been successfully determined using multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (MC-ICP-MS). Matrix separation conditions were tested and optimized using ion exchange chromatography with anion-exchange resin, AG1-X8, and sequential elution of the 0.5 M HBr and 7 M $HNO_3$ to separate lead from very high contents of copper and tin in bronze matrix. Mercury was also removed efficiently in the optimized separation condition. The instrumental isotope fractionation of lead in the MC-ICP-MS measurement was corrected by the external standard sample bracketing method using an external standard, NIST SRM 981 lead common isotope ratio standard followed by correction of procedure blank to obtain reliable isotope ratios of lead. The isotope ratios, $^{206}Pb/^{204}Pb$, $^{207}Pb/^{204}Pb$, $^{208}Pb/^{204}Pb$, and $^{208}Pb/^{206}Pb$, of lead were determined as $18.0802{\pm}0.0114$, $15.5799{\pm}0.0099$, $38.0853{\pm}0.0241$, and $2.1065{\pm}0.0004$, respectively, and the determined isotope ratios showed good agreement with the reference values of an international comparison for the same sample within the stated uncertainties
A rapid and simple method is described here for the determination of scandium in monazite by neutron activation analysis. The sample is irradiated for 20 hours at the neutron flux of $10^{12}$ thermal neutrons/$cm^2$/sec in the TRIGA MARK Ⅱ reactor, after which the sample is decomposed by fusion with concentrated sulfuric acid. The scandium-46 together with scandium carrier are separated from the irradiated sample by precipitating with ammonia, and are extracted by solvent extraction of the thiocyanate complex into ether. The induced radioactivity is measured by gamma scintillation spectrometry using the Multichannel Pulse Height Analyzer connected with 2"${\times}$2" NaI(Tl). The chemical yield is determined gravimetrically by precipitating scandium with mandelic acid. In order to check the efficiency of scandium separation and the errors from interfering activities of the other elements, scandium was separated by the cation exchange resin column, and the results from both samples were compared each other, which showed that the chemical procedure used in this work was as selective as the ion-exchange method with respect to scandium separation. The scandium contents in Korean monazite were found to be about 12 p. p. m.

Indigenous diagnostic dose of 131I-labeled meta-iodobenzylguanidine ([131I]mIBG) was prepared via Cu+ catalyzed isotope exchange reaction generated in situ by sodium metabisulfite for imaging of neuroblastoma tumor. [131I]mIBG was produced in overall 85-90% radiochemical yield. The average amount of radioactivity of [131I]mIBG was 2164 MBq (1998-2331MBq) with an average specific activity > 1000 MBq/mg at the end of synthesis. The radiochemical purity was ≥ 99.9% after purification through Dowex-1 × 8 ion exchange resin (100-150 mesh) at the date of preparation. The stability of [131I]mIBG at concentration 480-555 MBq/mL was > 97% at 4 ℃ after 4 days. The room temperature (25 ℃) stability of [131I]mIBG was > 98% after 24 h. Biodistribution of [131I]mIBG in patient showed uptake in salivary glands, liver, spleen and excreted though urinary bladder. Neuroendocrine medicated uptake into tumor lesion and metastatic sites were noted which strongly correlate with the morphological abnormalities of patient.
An alkaline protease was 4-fold purified, yielding 2.3% of recovery by ammonium sulfate precipitation, CM-cellulose column chromatography and Sephadex G-100 column chromatography. The purified enzyme was estimated to be monomeric with molecular weight of about 62,000 from polyacrylamide gel eletrophoresis (PAGE) and sodiumdodecylsulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-FAGE). The optimal pH and temperature of the alkaline pretense activity were 11.0 and 50$^{\circ}C$, respectively, exhibiting high stability at pH value from 6.0 to 11.0 at 50$^{\circ}C$ for 30 minute. The alkaline pretense was activated by MnSO$_4$, CaCl$_2$, and was inhibited by CuSO$_4$, ZnSO$_4$, HgCl$_2$, EDTA and EGTA. Also, the enzyme was found to be a metaloenzyme requiring Mn$\^$2+/ as cofactor. The NH$_2$-terminal amino acid of alkaline protease was alanine. The Km and Vmax values of this enzyme for casein was 4.0 mg/$m\ell$ and 5,500 unit/$m\ell$, respectively.
Phytin is a salt(mainly calcium and magnesium) of phytic acid and its purity and molecular formula can be determined by assaying the contents of phosporus, calcium and magnesium in phytin. In order to devise a new method for the quantitative analysis of the three elements in phytin, the chelatometric method was developed as follows: 1) As the pretreatment for phytin analysis, it was ashfied st $550{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ in the presence of concentrated nitric acid. This dry process is more accurate than the wet process. 2) Phosphorus, calcium and megnesium were analyzed by the conventional and the new method described here, for the phytin sample decomposed by the dry process. The ashfied phytin solution in hydrochloric acid was partitioned into cation and anion fractions by means of a ration exchange resin. A portion of the ration fraction was adjusted to pH 7.0, followed by readjustment to pH 10 and titrated with standard EDTA solution using the BT [Eriochrome black T] indicator to obtain the combined value of calcium and magnesium. Another portion of the ration fraction was made to pH 7.0, and a small volume of standard EDTA solution was added to it. pH was adjusted to $12{\sim}13$ with 8 N KOH and it was titrate by a standard EDTA solution in the presence of N-N[2-Hydroxy-1-(2-hydroxy-4-sulfo-1-naphytate)-3-naphthoic acid] diluted powder indicator in order to obtain the calcium content. Magnesium content was calculated from the difference between the two values. From the anion fraction the magnesium ammonium phosphate precipitate was obtained. The precipitate was dissolved in hydrochloric acid, and a standard EDTA solution was added to it. The solution was adjusted to pH 7.0 and then readjusted to pH 10.0 by a buffer solution and titrated with a standard magnesium sulfate solution in the presence of BT indicator to obtain the phosphorus content. The analytical data for phosphorus, calcium and magnesium were 98.9%, 97.1% and 99.1% respectively, in reference to the theoretical values for the formula $C_6H_6O_{24}P_6Mg_4CaNa_2{\cdot}5H_2O$. Statical analysis indicated a good coincidence of the theoretical and experimental values. On the other hand, the observed values for the three elements by the conventional method were 92.4%, 86.8% and 93.8%, respectively, revealing a remarkable difference from the theoretical. 3) When sodium phytate was admixed with starch and subjected to the analysis of phosphorus, calcium and magnesium by the chelatometric method, their recovery was almost 100% 4) In order to confirm the accuracy of this method, phytic acid was reacted with calcium chloride and magnesium chloride in the molar ratio of phytic: calcium chloride: magnesium chloride=1 : 5 : 20 to obtain sodium phytate containing one calcium atom and four magnesium atoms per molecule of sodium phytate. The analytical data for phosporus, calcium and magnesium were coincident with those as determine d by the aforementioned method. The new method employing the dry process, ion exchange resin and chelatometric assay of phosphorus, calcium and magnesium is considered accurate and rapid for the determination of phytin.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the applicability of adsorption models for understanding the thermodynamic properties of adsorption process. For this study, the adsorption isotherm data of $NO_3$-N ion onto a commercial anion exchange resin obtained at various experimental conditions, i.e. different initial concentrations of adsorbate, different dosages of adsorbent, and different temperatures, were used in calculating the thermodynamic parameters and the adsorption energy of adsorption process. The Gibbs free energy change (${\Delta}G^0$) of adsorption process could be calculated using the Langmuir constant $b_M$ as well as the Sips constant, even though the results were significantly dependant on the experimental conditions. The thermodynamic parameters such as standard enthalpy change (${\Delta}H^0$), standard entropy change (${\Delta}S^0$) and ${\Delta}G^0$ could be calculated by using the experimental data obtained at different temperatures, if the adsorption data well fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model and the plot of ln b versus 1/T gives a straight line. As an alternative, the empirical equilibrium constant(K) defined as $q_e/C_e$ could be used for evaluating the thermodynamic parameters instead of the Langmuir constant. The results from the applications of D-R model and Temkin model to evaluate the adsorption energy suggest that the D-R model is better than Temkin model for describing the experimental data, and the availability of Temkin model is highly limited by the experimental conditions. Although adsorption energies determined using D-R model show significantly different values depending on the experimental conditions, they were sufficient to show that the adsorption of $NO_3$-N onto anion exchange resin is an endothermic process and an ion-exchange process.
