An Improved Wavelet PWM Technique with Output Voltage Amplitude Control for Single-phase Inverters

  • Unlike existing pulse-width modulation (PWM) techniques, such as sinusoidal PWM and random PWM, the wavelet PWM (WPWM) technique based on a Harr wavelet function can achieve a high fundamental component for the output voltage, low total harmonic distortion, and simple digital implementation. However, the original WPWM method lacks output voltage control. Thus, the practical application of the WPWM technique is limited. This study proposes an improved WPWM technique that can regulate output voltage amplitude with the addition of a parameter. The relationship between the additional parameter and the output voltage amplitude is analyzed in detail. Experimental results verify that the improved WPWM exhibits output voltage control in addition to all the merits of the WPWM technique.

  • 본 연구에서는 3상 Z-소스 인버터에 능동전력필터에 적용하여 평상시에는 고조파 보상 전류가 Z-소스 인버터에 의해 발생이 되고 전원 측에 문제가 생길시 인버터로 동작하는 회로를 제안하였다. 능통필터 모드에서의 보상 전류는 P-q이론에 의해 연산이 되었고, 센서에 의해 모드를 달리하여 전원에 문제가 생기더라도 정상적으로 전원이 공급이 가능한 것을 PISM 시뮬레이션을 통하여 확인하였다.

  • For the purpose of fast response and simplifing system angle control strategy is selected. And the analysis and dynamic performance of a slip frequency controlled current source inverter fed induction motor drive with stator frequency compensation (indirect torque angle control) is investigated. The current control loop including motor is modeled and speed control loop including the frequency compensation is analysed. And transfer function of overal system is simplified. Experimental results are given in support of the analytical procedure.

  • This paper presents a design techniques for an electronic ballast of HID lamps. An electronic ballast for HID lamps usually employs a high frequency resonant inverter and voltage-to-frequency converter to control the output and a half-bridge and series resonant circuit are chosen for the ballast. In this paper, the new lighting method for the stable ignition regardless of lamp types is designed. And this type of ballast has some useful functions such as surge protection, thermal protection, and dimmable function. Moreover the powerline communication skill is also used to transmit a dimming control signal.

  • A wide passband filter consisting of 3-stage ssymmetrical coupler can be realized, where the admittance inverter parameters in equivalent circuit of asymmetrical coupled microstrip lines are given as a function of a fundamental design parameter of a bandpass filter. An experimental filter was designed over 22 percend bandwidth centered at 9GHz and optimized using Super-Compact. Measured forward transmission and forward reflection closely matched design data but measured insertion loss was slightly higher (0.7dB) than the designed value.

  • This paper presents a development of the auxiliary power supply simulator for a electric rolling stock. An auxiliary power supplies are required for operating air conditioning units, ventilation fans, lighting and battery charging. Traditionally this function has been fulfilled by Motor-Alternator sets. In recent years, high performance of semiconductor and micro processor, availability and price have made three phase voltage source inverters as an attractive alternative to MA Sets. From the baseline model of the SIV(Static InVerter) for electric rolling stock, we designed the scale down model of the auxiliary power supply simulator consisting of an IGBT three phase voltage source inverter. The auxiliary power supply simulator can be used educatory purpose for training efficiently about operating principles of SIV.

  • To improve the damping of all poorly damped oscillation modes, a control strategy of Static Synchronous Series Compensator (SSSC) based on energy method is presented in this Paper As a synchronous voltage-sourced inverter, SSSC is used to provide controllable series compensation. SSSC can provide controllable compensating voltage over an identical capacitive and inductive range. The damping effect of control strategy based on energy function is robustness with respect to loading condition, fault location and network configuration. Furthermore, the control inputs are based on local signals. In two area system, the effect of damping inter-area mode oscillation is demonstrated by the robust control strategy of SSSC.

  • Recently Advanced Static Var Compensators(ASVC) or STATic Synchronous COMpesator(STATCOM) has been considered as a next generation reactive power controller. [2] STATCOM is a voltage source inverter(VSI) based static VAr compensator with only small capacitors on the do side. The main function of the STATCOM is to keep the bus voltage magnitude at the desired value. [1] This paper compares the PAM STATCOM with PWM STATCOM. The characteristics and the control method of each model is analyzed. And the simulation of STATCOMs based on the above two methods was presented.

  • The paper shows a result for development of BLDC motor drive by using a resolver as position detection sensor. The developed drive use a method detecting rotor position based on HSI interrupt function of microprocessor without a specialized counting circuit. The algorithm generating three-phase PWM wave to change switching voltage and current is realized based on single chip microprocessor. The PWM generating part and position counting circuit are realized by software technique without usage of conventional analogue circuit or object-oriented chips. So the drive system become compact. The effectiveness of the developed drive is verified by experimented results of speed response for step reference input.

  • This paper describes the characteristic feather of propulsion system adopting mass production. The train formation is composed of 4 cars by 2 Motor cars and 2 Train cars. Acceleration rate must be 3.0 km/h/s or more when the car starts up to 35km/h by 16ton of passenger load. The system information supervision is easy because the system is controlled to perfect digital circuits, all information of an action is stored in a memory and is managed. The control system is composed of a fully digital circuit and a high level software such as C language. The DSP TMS320C31 is used for main processor and has the capability of 50MHz, 32bit floating point operation and has a C compiler. Therefore, the implementation of control algorithm and the change of function are easy. VVVF inverter using IGBT conducted variable combined test, environment test using chamber, interface test and field test etc.
