  • This paper presents the adoption of PWM converter to enhance input power factor in inverter arc welder. By using PWM converter in inverter arc welder, the disadvantages of bridge diode converter such as low input power factor is improved, new NCT(Noise Cut Transformer) is designed to reduce noise which has harmful effect in switching component, half bridge PWM inverter is adopted to reduce cost in inverter arc welder.

  • 본 연구에서는 프래쉬버트 용접에서의 용접성을 향상시키기 위하여 인버터를 대용량 시스템에 적용하여 타당성을 검증하였다. 제안된 시스템은 풀브릿지 인버터방식을 채택하고, DSP제어기를 사용하였다. 인버터시스템으로 동작 주파수를 향상시키면서 기존의 위상 제어형 용접기의 용접성과 비교하여 스패터가 저감되는 등 용접성이 개선되는 것을 여러 가지 금속학적인 방법들을 이용하여 확인하고, 인버터 시스템의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • SCR(Thyristor) type $CO_2$ welders have widely used for the welding process of heavy industries such as shipbuilding and plant. Since the industrial fields of shipbuilding and plant are usually exposed to severe welding condition with lots of dust, extreme temperature, high humidity and vibration, it is not recommended to use inverter type welder despite its state-of-the-art technology. Many sophisticated functions in the inverter welder may not work due to malfunction of its sensitive components. Hence this study focused on digitalization of SCR $CO_2$ welder by making use of microprocessor for SCR phase control. By this application, fine control of output of the $CO_2$ welding systems is achieved. Also pulse output mode of operation is realized and its verification is carried out with aluminum sample welding. The experimental results showed sound weld bead. The front operation panel provide user with numerical parameter settings and monitors. It will help precise weld process monitoring and control with digital value.

동저항 특성을 이용한 저항 스폿 용접기의 정전력과 정전류의 혼합모드 제어 (Mixed Mode Control of Constant Power and Constant Current for Resistance Spot Welder using Dynamic Resistance Characteristics)

  • A new mixed mode control of constant power and constant current for resistance spot welding inverter is proposed to improve the weld quality. The conventional control scheme adopts constant current or constant power control mode, however, it is not easy to guarantee the high weld quality because of the nonlinear resistance characteristics of the welding point. The proposed method utilizes the nonlinear characteristics by measuring the dynamic resistance in real time. Therefore, it is possible for the welder to be controlled adaptively depending on the welding state. Experimental results show that the proposed control scheme improves the weld quality by 6.8 times compared with the conventional constant current mode control.

  • Along with the rapid growth in microelectronics and power electronics technologies, various advanced control methods have been successfully implemented in real time and shown to be useful in controlling CO2 arc welding systems with high dynamic performance. In this paper, the slope of welding currents is controlled not to be so high in the case of short circuit welding mode. This results in less spatter. In addition, the data-base is constructed for the optimal welding conditions.

GMAW에서 와이어 송급속도의 변동이 아크안정성에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effects of Wire speed Fluctuation on Arc Stability in GMA Welding)

  • Weld quality of GMA welding processes is closely related to arc stability. Although many researches on arc stability have been performed, real-time estimation of arc stability has not been attempted. For instance, Mita proposed a off-line statistical method in which short circuiting and arcing time, and voltage and current wave forms were sampled to assess arc stability. But this method is not suitable to assess arc stability for GMA welder which employ inverter power source due to its controlled current and voltage wave forms. In this paper, the relationship between are stability and wire feed rate fluctuation is analyzed to propose new criterion for inverter power source. When arc voltage and arc current and arcing time are analyzed, we can assess arc stability only for short circuit transfer mode. When wire feed rate is analyzed, we can estimate arc stability udner the condition of spray transfer mode as well. Hence, the wire feed rate is chosen for monitoring process variable to cover possible metal transfer modes in GMAW. Through this research, it has been identified that arc stability in GMA welding processes is closely related to wire fed rate. When inverter power source is used, conventional statistical method of estimating arc stability, such as Mita index, is no longer valid due to its controlled voltage and current wave forms. Arc stability has been also examined in phase plane diagram.

  • In this paper, the inverter TIG(Tungsten Inert Gas) welding system with high power efficiency by means of pulse current control of welding process is presented. In TIG welding, pulse current control is utilized in order to attain less apatter and high welding performance. The four factors which determine the welding performance of the pulse current are frequency, base current, peak current, and peak current duty current, and peak current duty ratio. In this paper, we analyze these factors should be controlled to achieve minimum power input. To demonstrate the practical significance of our results, we present some experimental results as well as simulation results.

  • The low frequency pulsed MIG welding process of new current waveform control to switch over unit pulse conditions (pulse current, pulse duration) in the fixed cycle was developed and its effect were investigated for aluminium and its alloy. By using this new welding process, the bead appearance having clear ripple pattern, such as TIG welding bead can be obtained and the gap tolerance of lap and butt welding joint can be expanded.

  • 자동차 분야에 있어서 자동차 바퀴의 림(rim)용접에서 flash butt 용접이 널리 이용되고 있는 데 이 분야 역시 경량화에 따른 고강도 강재의 채택이 불가피하게 대두되고 있고, 고장력강의 flash butt 용접이 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 좋은 용접품질 획득을 위한 균일한 가열을 위해 전류의 시간적 편차가 큰 thyristor에 의한 제어는 큰 flash를 유발할 수 있어서 고장력강과 같은 경우에서 산화물의 발생을 유발시킬 수 있기 때문에 주의하지 않으면 안된다. 따라서 flashing과 upset의 균일성을 획득하기 위해서는 용접전류의 편차가 크지 않도록하는 기술과 최적의 전류를 공급하는 기술, 그리고 용융량과 배출량의 함수적 제어가 중요한 데 이를 위해서 인버터 방식의 전류제어기술이 개발되면 큰 효과를 기대할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 DSP controller를 이용하여 사이리스터 위상제어를 다이오우드 정류기와 직류 링크 캐패시터, PWM 인버터로 구성해 인버터 방식의 정전류제어 기술을 개발하여 용접성을 비교 실험하여 결과를 보여준다.

디지털 제어를 이용한 알루미늄 아크 용접기의 기술현황 (Technology on Arc Welding Machine of Aluminum by Digital Control)

  • Recently, welding technology of nonferrous metals which were difficult to implement by arc welder has become available through digitalization of arc welding machine. Among them, the welding quality improvement of aluminum welding is very noticeable. These results increase the arc stability by controlling arc current and voltage waveform precisely, and control wire feed speed by synchronizing with arc current which the feed rate of filler wire is controlled by a precise motor control of servomotor and not by a simple constant speed feeding. Not only through the hardware digitalization of arc welding machine but also through advance of software of arc welding, it became possible to implement a certain level of welding quality by a simple operation. These led to CMT welding process implementation which requires low heat input than current arc welding and highly increased the applicability of the aluminum welding.
