Objectives : Diabetes patients suffer from severe stress in maintaining the diet therapy and exercise therapy as well as the disease itself, and this stress has bad effects on controlling the glucose level and causes high prevalence rate of depressive and anxiety disorders. These symptoms again have deleterious effects on blood glucose control. A lot of researches about the relationship between glycemic control and symptoms of depression and anxiety and about the positive effects of the treatments of depression and anxiety disorder on glycemic control in diabetic patients are being performed. In Korea, the research regarding the relationship between glycemic control and depression and anxiety symptoms are seldom performed. In this study, we tried to find out the correlation between the glycemic control and depressive symptom and anxiety symptom. Methods : The study included 65 patients(male 34, female 31) with Diabetes in outpatient clinic of the Department of Endocrinology in Dankook University Hospital. We used the HbA1c levels to check glycemic control through blood sample analysis and used Beck Depression Inventory(BDI) and Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI). Results : Among the 65 Diabetes patients, 21(32.30%) had mild depressive symptoms, and 6(9.23%) had moderate or severe depressive symptoms. The relation of HbA1c and BDI was not statistically significant, but was significant between HBA1c and BAI, (R=0.567, P<0.001). In the linear regression analysis, BAI had an effect on HbA1c($\beta=0.533$, T=5.012, P=0.00), but BDI, diabetes complications, diabetic morbid period and BMI had no effect on HbA1C. The relationship between HbA1c and BDI was not statistically significant, but the relationship between HbA1c and BAI was statistically significant(R=0.254, P<0.001). Conclusions : In this study, the rates of diabetic patients with depressive symptoms were higher, but those with anxiety symptoms were not higher than the general population. We could not find out significant relationship between depressive symptom and glycemic control, but found the significant relationship between the anxiety symptom and glycemic control in diabetic patients.

Objectives : According to the recent Korean National Police Agency report, rape victims were 17.1%, but sexual molestation victims were more than the rape victims by 78.0%. Despite many international reports about the occurrence of severe psychiatric symptoms in sexual molestation victims, there is no domestic research. Therefore in this study, we investigated psychiatric symptoms of sexual molestation victims, and we also compared it with psychiatric symptoms in rape victims. Methods : 58 women who visited Busan Smile Center within 3months after sexual violence were the study subjects. Questionnaire about sociodemographic and sexual violence related characteristics were retrospectively investigated. Of the psychiatric symptoms, Beck Depression Inventory(BDI), Beck Anxiety Inventory(BAI) for severity of depression and anxiety, and Impact of Event Scale-Revised(IES-R) to check the presence of posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD) symptoms were used. Results : Of 58 sexual violence victims, sexual molestation victims were 36(62.1%) and rape victims were 22(37.9%). In sexual molestation victims, 80.6% had more than moderate severity of depression, 83.3% had more than moderate severity of anxiety, and 94.4% had significant scores at PTSD screening test. Compared with rape victims' psychiatric symptoms(each 95.5%, 95.5%, 95.5%) there were no significant difference. Conclusions : The majority of sexual molestation victims were also accompanied by depression, anxiety and PTSD symptoms as rape victims. There results suggest that appropriate assessment and early treatment for psychiatric symptom must be made in the early stage of injury in sexual molestation victims.

Objective : In this study, we are going to check the impact of the daily performance of a child with developmental disabilities on the parent's burden and quality of life. Methods : 120 parents of children with developmental disabilities were targeted in Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces. To measure the daily performance ability of children with developmental disabilities, we used evaluative Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory and The burden of parents was measured by Family Burden Questionnaire and the quality of life by Beach Center Family Quality of Life Scale. Based on the data collected, independent t-test, one-way anova, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted to check the impact of a child's daily performance ability of developmental disability on the parent's burden and quality of life. Results : The daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities showed a negative correlation with the burden of the parents and a positive correlation with the quality of life. The hygiene and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had an important influence on parent's burden, while hygiene, toileting, and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had a significant effect on their parent's quality of life. Conclusion : It has been shown that the daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities has a major influence on parent's burden and quality of life. In order to reduce the burden and improve quality of life, therapeutic intervention, education and interview programs for daily life of children with developmental disabilities need to be carried out systematically by occupational therapists.
Purpose - Recently, domestic pharmaceutical market is growing steadily, but top-tier companies are concentrating on sales growth. In this market, SMEs, which account for more than 80% of the entire market, suffer from the problem of lower margins and increasing inventory costs. According to the government's policy changes related to pharmaceuticals, it is pointed out that the management of existing customers and the control of salespeople are important issues for pharmaceutical companies. This study investigates the effect of the control system on the salesperson in domestic pharmaceutical distribution channel on customer-oriented selling behaviors and sales performance. Research design, data, and methodology - To verify the proposed research model and test hypotheses, the authors selected 244 MR(medical representatives)'s responses which have currently relationship with doctors or pharmacists. This study carefully investigated the reliability, content validity, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of the proposed model. Results - The authors find out the following results: capacity control, activity control, and self control have positive effects on customer-oriented selling behaviors and customer-oriented selling behaviors have a positive effect on sales performance. In addition, we present alternative model to check the direct effect between the control systems and the sales performance, but control system factors except self control have no direct influence. Conclusions - First of all, competency control and activity control increases the customer-oriented selling behavior of the salesperson. This means that the salesperson's sales skill, negotiation skill, customer access skill, presentation ability, monitoring, direction and evaluation are important and it is also important to control activities to check the number of visits to customers, report preparation, and customer service etiquette. Second, the fact that self-control of salesperson affects the customer-oriented selling behavior suggests that self-control is not controlled by external factors but rather establishes short/long-term goals. Therefore, it is important for sales organization to create an environment in which members can induce persistent incentives for self-control. Finally, output control did not affect customer-oriented sales behavior, which is less likely to form confidence or motivation to MRs when output control is perceived as a means of monitoring, supervising, or controlling rather than providing information to salespeople.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify type of anger expression and mental health in middle aged women. Methods: From August to October 2005, survey data were collected by using the State Trait Anger Expression Inventory and Symptom Check List-90-Revision (SCL). Participants (1,442) were classified into four types of anger expression by K-mean cluster analysis. For collecting interview data for content analysis, 18 participants (4-5 participants from each type of anger expression) were recruited. The interview data were collected between March and September 2006. Results: The average score of the state anger of middle-aged women was 11.95, and that of the trait anger was 18.75. The average anger expression scores were 12.72 for Anger-In, 13.45 for Anger-Out, and 18.51 for Anger-Control. The average SCL scores were 45.03 for somatization, 42.23 for obsessive-compulsiveness, 42.44 for interpersonal sensitivity, 42.45 for depression, 42.40 for anxiety, 42.62 for hostility, 44.44 for phobic anxiety, 43.65 for paranoid ideation, and 43.08 for psychoticism. The anger expression types identified in this study were 1) anger-out in secret, 2) anger-control with a patience, 3) anger-out with suppression, and 4) low anger expression type. The psychosomatic symptom scores were the highest in type III (anger-out with suppression), and the lowest in type IV (low anger expression type). Conclusion: This study can be helpful in assisting middle aged women to control their anger effectively and may contribute to the improvement of their mental health.
1) The purpose of this study was to compare the forest survey by ground method with that by aerial photo method. 2) In this study, the forest type map was made by use of the radial line plotter and radial line triangulation method. 3) The difference between the area found by the forest type map above mentioned and that by compass surveying on the ground was none-significant. 4) On aerial photo the stratification was carried out very easily. 5) The following sampling methods were applied : line plot method, representative sampling method and stratified random sampling on the aerial photo. 6) In confirming sampling point the line plot method and the representative sampling method were easier than another. 7) As to stands volume the maximum value was given by stratification, and the minimum by line plot method.

In this paper, we developed a detection and correction method of noisy pixels embedded in the time series of normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) data based on the spatio-temporal continuity of vegetation conditions. For the application of the method, 25-year (1982-2006) GIMMS (Global Inventory Modeling and Mapping Study) NDVI dataset over the Korean peninsula were used. The spatial resolution and temporal frequency of this dataset are $8{\times}8km^2$ and 15-day, respectively. Also the land cover map over East Asia is used. The noisy pixels are detected by the temporal continuity check with the reference values and dynamic threshold values according to season and location. In general, the number of noisy pixels are especially larger during summer than other seasons. And the detected noisy pixels are corrected by the iterative method until the noisy pixels are completely corrected. At first, the noisy pixels are replaced by the arithmetic weighted mean of two adjacent NDVIs when the two NDVI are normal. After that the remnant noisy pixels are corrected by the weighted average of NDVI of the same land cover according to the distance. After correction, the NDVI values and their variances are increased and decreased by 5% and 50%, respectively. Comparing to the other correction method, this correction method shows a better result especially when the noisy pixels are occurred more than 2 times consistently and the temporal change rates of NDVI are very high. It means that the correction method developed in this study is superior in the reconstruction of maximum NDVI and NDVI at the starting and falling season.
Purpose: In this study differences in behavioral problems between children at risk for Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and normally developing children were identified. Further, relationships between parental stress, depression, and child behavioral problems according to ADHD symptoms were explored. Methods: Participants were 222 elementary school children and their parents. The ADHD risk group was determined by the Korean-ADHD Rating Scale. Data were collected using the Korean-ADHD Rating Scale, Korean version of Child Behavior CheckList (K-CBCL), Parenting Stress Index, and Beck Depression Inventory. Data were analyzed using t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and regression analysis. Results: 1) The ADHD risk group showed higher levels of behavioral problems, parenting stress, and maternal depression than the normal group. 2) There were significant relationships between ADHD scores and parenting stress (r=.66), maternal depression (r=.35), internal behavioral problems (r=.47), and external problems (r=.55), but, ADHD risk scores were negatively correlated with social competence (r=-.40). 3) The regression analysis revealed that ADHD levels affected the child's internal behavioral problems, mediated by maternal depression ($\beta$=.29, p<.001). Conclusion: The study results show that higher risk scores for ADHD indicate a significant effect for behavioral problems. Also, parenting stress and depression influence child's behavioral problems. These results suggest that identification of children at risk for ADHD and development of parental education programs would contribute to the prevention of behavioral problems and aggravation of the ADHD symptoms.
The purpose of this study was to explore the degree of stress in caregivers caring for patients who had had a cerebro vascular accident as the stress is related to the self- care ability of the patient. The subjects for the study were caregivers of 111 CVA patients, hospitalized at two University affiliated hospitals and two general hospitals in Daejon. The survey instruments used in the study were Kang’s ADL Check List and a modified form of Lee’s Stress Inventory. The survey was conducted from July 16th to August 30th, 1992. The survey results were analyzed using the Statisitical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and can be sumerized as follows: 1. The level of self- care for the CVA patients was : 1) complete dependence (M=34.7, 31.2%), 2) complete independence (M=14.8. 13.3%), 3) in-complete independence ( M=17.5, 15.8% ), 4) in-complete dependence (M=14.8, 13.3%) and 5) dependence and independence (M=14.1, 12.7%). The items for which there was a high level of self-care were 1) drinking (M=3.640), 2) returning (M=2.351) and 3) eating (M=2.351) : and the items for which there was a low level of self -care were : 1) ascending and descending stairs (M=2.351), 2) dressing and undressing trousers (M=2.514) and 3) dressing and undressing jacket (M :2.532). 2. There was a statistically difference between the paralytic status and the level of self- care accord-ing to their demographic characteristics ( F=24. 7056, p(.001). 3. There was no significant difference in the degree of caregiver stress according to patient's demo-graphic characteristics. 4. There was a statistically significant difference in the degree of caregiver stress according to the following demographic characteristics : age (F=7.4189, p(.001), education level (F=5.8336, P(.01), family structure (t=2.10, p(.05) and their relationship with the patient (F=6.5099, P〈.01). 5. There was no significant difference in the degree of caregiver stress according to the level of patient self - care.

Purpose: Besides depression and anxiety, recently pain catastrophizing has been emphasized for an important psychological factor explaining pain response in various pain conditions including temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). The aims of this study were to evaluate pain catastrophizing of TMD patients and to investigate how the level of pain catastrophizing related with clinical variables and psychometric morbidity. Methods: Inclusion criterion was all new TMD patients ${\geq}18$ years old attending the Department of Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine of Dankook University Dental Hospital (Cheonan, Korea) over three-month period in 2014, who completed questionnaires. The questionnaires included the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI), Pain Catastrophizing Scale (PCS), and Symptom Check List- 90-Revised (SCL-90-R). All of them were examined clinically and diagnosed. Results: One hundred fifty five patients diagnosed as TMDs were participated in this study (mean age of $38.7{\pm}15.2$ years, male:female=1:2.5). Mean PCS score of the patients was 17.3 with standard deviation of 12.6. By the median of the PCS score (i.e., 15), the subjects were categorized into the high (${\geq}15$) and low catastrophizers (<15). Increased pain severity and interference and increased score of psychological features of SCL-90-R were found in the TMD patients with higher level of catastrophizing (p<0.001) and there was weak to moderate correlation between those factors (p<0.05). Difference in catastrophizing level was not found for other variables such as age, gender, duration of pain, education level and types of TMDs. Conclusions: Conclusively, pain catastrophizing of TMD patients relates positively to pain severity and pain interference. In addition to depression and anxiety, pain catastrophizing is positively correlated with variable other psychological morbidity such as somatization, obsessive- compulsive, interpersonal sensitivity, paranoid ideation and psychoticism. Types of TMD diagnosis do not seem to affect catastrophizing level. The results of this study suggest that pain catastrophizing should be emphasized and assessed in the TMD patients.
