  • This paper estimates the tree height using Airborne LiDAR that is obtained for each season to analyze its influence based on a canopyclosure and data fusion. The tree height was estimated by extracting the First Return (RF) from the tree and the Last Return (LR) from the surface of earth to assume each tree via image segmentation and to obtain the height of each tree. Each data on tree height that is collected from seasonal data and the result of tree height acquired from the data fusion were compared. A tree height measuring device was used to measure on site and its accuracy was compared. Also, its applicability on the result of fused data that is obtained through the Airborne LiDAR is examined. As a result of the experiment, the result of image segmentation for an individual tree was closer to the result of site study for 1 meter interval when compared to the 0.5 meter interval of point cloud. In case of the tree height, the application of fused data enables a closer site measurement result than the application of data for each season.

  • This paper proposes a tag indexing scheme for RFID tag using spatial index. The tag being used for the inventory management and the tag's location is determined by the position of readers. Therefore, the reader recognizes the tag, which is attached products and thereby their positions can be traced down. In this paper, we propose hTag-tree( Hybrid Tag index) which manages RFID tag attached products. hTag-tree is a new index, which is based on tag's attributes with fast searching, and this tag index manages RFID tags using reader's location. This tag index accesses rapidly to tags for insertion, deletion and updating in dynamic environment. This can minimize the number of node accesses in tag searching comparing to previous techniques. Also, by the extension of MER in present tag index, it is helpful to stop the lowering of capacity which can be caused by parent node approach. The proposed index experiment deals with the comparison of tag index. Fixed Interval R-tree, and present spatial index, R-tree comparison. As a result, the amount of searching time is significantly shortened through hTag-tree node access in data search. This shows that the use of proposed index improves the capacity of effective management of a large amount of RFID tag.

  • For tracing tag locations, the trajectories should be modeled and indexed in radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. The trajectory of a tag can be represented as a line that connects two spatiotemporal locations captured when the tag enters and leaves the vicinity of a reader. If a tag enters but does not leave a reader, its trajectory is represented only as a point captured at entry. Because the information that a tag stays in a reader is missing from the trajectory represented only as a point, it is impossible to find the tag that remains in a reader. To solve this problem we propose the data model in which trajectories are defined as time-parameterized intervals and new index scheme called the Time Parameterized Interval R-tree. We also propose new insert and split algorithms that reduce the area of nodes to enable efficient query processing. We evaluate the performance of the proposed index scheme and compare it with previous indexes on various datasets.

  • Moving object management is widely used in traffic, logistic and data mining applications in ubiquitous environments. It is required to analyze spatio-temporal data and trajectories for moving object management. In this paper, we proposed a novel index structure for spatio-temporal aggregation of trajectory in a constrained network, named aCN-RB-tree. It manages aggregation values of trajectories using a constraint network-based index and it also supports direction of trajectory. An aCN-RB-tree consists of an aR-tree in its center and an extended B-tree. In this structure, an aR-tree is similar to a Min/Max R-tree, which stores the child nodes' max aggregation value in the parent node. Also, the proposed index structure is based on a constrained network structure such as a FNR-tree, so that it can decrease the dead space of index nodes. Each leaf node of an aR-tree has an extended B-tree which can store timestamp-based aggregation values. As it considers the direction of trajectory, the extended B-tree has a structure with direction. So this kind of aCN-RB-tree index can support efficient search for trajectory and traffic zone. The aCN-RB-tree can find a moving object trajectory in a given time interval efficiently. It can support traffic management systems and mining systems in ubiquitous environments.

We also propose new insert and split algorithms to enable efficient query processing. We evaluate the performance of the proposed index scheme and compare it with the R-tree and the R*-tree. Our experiments show that the new index scheme outperforms the other two in processing queries of tags on various datasets.

  • This paper deals with the multiple attribute decision making problem when a decision maker incompletely articulates his/her preferences about the attribute weight and alternative value. Furthermore, we consider the attribute tree which is structured hierarchically. Techniques for establishing dominance with linear partial information are proposed in a hierarchically structured attribute tree. The linear additive value function under certainty is used in the model. The incompletely specified information constructs a feasible region of linear constraints and therefore the pairwise dominance relationship between alternatives leads to intractable non-linear programming. Hence, we propose solution techniques to handle this difficulty. Also, to handle the tree structure, we break down the attribute tree into sub-trees. Due to there cursive structure of the solution technique, the optimization results from sub-trees can be utilized in computing the value interval on the topmost attribute. The value intervals computed by the proposed solution techniques can be used to establishing the pairwise dominance relation between alternatives. In this paper, pairwise dominance relation will be represented as strict dominance and weak dominance, which ware already defined in earlier researches.

  • Recently, nuclear power plant companies have been extending the turbine valve test interval to reduce the potential of the reactor trip accompanied with a turbine valve test and to improve the NPP's economy through the reduction of unexpected plant trip or decreased operation. In these regards, the extension of the test interval for turbine valves was reviewed in detail. The effect on the destructive overspeed probability due to the test interval change of turbine valves is evaluated by Fault Tree Analysis(FTA) method. Even though the test interval of turbine valves is changed from 1 month to 3 months, the analysis result shows that the reliability of turbine over speed protection system meets acceptance criteria of 1.0E-4/yr. This result will be used as the technical basis on the extension of the test interval for turbine valves. In this paper, the propriety of the turbine valve test interval extension is explained through the review on the turbine valve test interval status of turbine overspeed protection system, the analysis on the annual turbine missile frequency and the probability evaluation of the destructive overspeed due to the test interval extension.

  • There is little information about appropriate greenspace structures to satisfy aesthetic function in Korea. The purpose of this study was to analyze Korean's aesthetic preferences for greenspace structures concerned with urban tree plantings of an areal type to explore desirable greenspace landscapes. The study considered 5 structural variables of greenspace which were species composition, tree density, tree size, vertical and horizontal structure, and tree layout pattern. A photo-questionnaire was prepared through color simulations of different landscape types for each structural variable. Preference responses of an interval-scale rating from 214 respondents were statistically analyzed between landscape types and between respondent groups. Respondents preferred greenspace landscapes with diverse tree species to single species, higher tree density to lower density, larger trees to many smaller trees, multilayered and grouped plantings to single-layered and sparse plantings, and informal pattern to formal pattern. These preferences tended to be relatively higher for educated specialist and student groups than for other generalist group. Thus, multilayered and dense plantings in natural pattern including larger trees of diverse species, which are similar to ecological plantings, are recommended to increase aesthetic function of greenspace.

최근 전자태그의 특성을 고려한 색인인 TPIR-Tree(Time parameterized Interval R-Tree)가 발표되었다.
