  • A method of extracting global, trend curves from input image that may locally not even contain small fragments of those curves using a hierarchical pyramid data structure is suggested. The smoothed input image is subsampled into a pyramid of lower-resolution versions by recursive computation of Gaussian-weighted sums. Trend curves are extracted by finding control points from ridges in these blurred images, and interpolating B-splines for those points.

  • This paper describes a method of constructing VC2 Chord-length spline surface from semi-evenly spaced 3D point array. The suface uses Hermite interpolant as Ferguson surface, and it is an extention of chord-length spline curve to surface The proposed surface may be widely used in interpolating smoothly 3D point data obtaind by measurement or engineering design.

  • We construct high-degree interpolation rules using not only pointwise values of a function but also of its derivatives up to the p-th order at equally spaced nodes on a closed and bounded interval of interest by introducing a linear functional from which we produce systems of linear equations. The linear systems will lead to a conclusion that the rules are uniquely determined for the nodes. An example is provided to compare the rules with the classical interpolating polynomials.

  • Control methods to achieve efficient and accurate deburring robots are proposed. For efficiency, cutting speed is controlled adoptively with the cutting load. For accuracy, it adopts repetitive control. Since usual repetitive control cannot afford dynamical speed changes, the proposed method controls in an interpolating manner using several waveforms stored in the controller. Successful experimental results axe shown.

  • In this paper, we present a real-time hand gesture recognition system that controls motion of a human avatar based on the pre-defined dynamic hand gesture commands in a virtual environment. Each motion of a human avatar consists of some elementary motions which are produced by solving inverse kinematics to target posture and interpolating joint angles for human-like motions. To overcome processing time of the recognition system for teaming, we use a Fuzzy Min-Max Neural Network (FMMNN) for classification of hand postures

  • A parametric cubic spline interpolating at fixed number of nodes is constructed by formulating a parametric cubic $g^2$ B-splines $S_3(t)$ with not equally spaced parametric knots. Since the fact that each component is in $C^2$ class is not enough to provide the geometric smoothness of parametric curves, the existence of $S_3(t)$ oriented toward the modified second-order geometric continuity is focalized in our work.

  • Let p be an odd prime, and let f($\varkappa$) be the interpolating polynomial associated with a table of data points (j+1, (equation omitted) ) for 0$\leq$j$\leq$p. In this article, we find congruence identities modulo p of (p-1)!f($\varkappa$), (p-2)!f($\varkappa$), and (p-3)!f($\varkappa$). Moreover we present some conjectures of these types.

  • We present an interpolating, univariate subdivision scheme which preserves the discrete curvature and tangent direction at each step of subdivision. Since the polygon have a geometric information of some original(in some sense) curve as a discrete curvature, we can expect that the limit curve has the same curvature at each vertex as the control polygon. We estimate the curvature bound of odd vertices and give an error estimate for restoring a curve from sampled vertices on curves.

  • The Gibbs’ phenomenon for the classical Fourier series is known. This occurs for almost all series expansions. This phenomenon has been observed even in sampling series. In this paper, we show the existence of Gibbs phenomenon for trigonometric interpolating polynomial by a simple and different manner from the wok[4].

  • In this paper we propose algorithms for high resolution image sequence interpolation. Image sequences, in general, are assumed to have greater amount of information than a still image. By this reason, image sequences can be used to improve the resolution of interpolated image sequences. Therefore the proposed algorithms can be the theoretical basis for interpolating dynamic image sequences. In order to demonstrate the validity of the proposed algorithms, experimental results using both synthetic and real test images are presented.
