  • In this study, we experimentally investigate a noise mechanism related to the machining accuracy of the reducer in the driving state. We fabricate a planetary reducer and four types of gears for use in the planetary reducer. We use signal analysis to determine the noise and vibration of the reducer at different motor speeds; the motor speed is increased from 0 rpm to the maximum speed in a stepwise manner. In addition, we obtain the sound level by using a sound level meter. The machining accuracy of gears is evaluated by public organizations, Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL), on the basis of the Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS). We analyze and compare the results with the noise and vibration of the reducer.

  • Since the publication of the first bone scintiscans in 1962 three decades have elapsed. The bone scan has made great strides during this period, becoming one of the most commonly used nuclear imaging tests. In spite of the progress, however, the specificity of bone scan has remained relatively low. As the result it is a common practice to seek additional information from radiograph, CT scan and MR image, which is euphemistically termed as "image fusion or co-location." The basic reason is the inapplicability of the classical piecemeal analysis to interpreting planar and SPECT bone scans. Such analysis has its base on the observation of elemental features of morphology, which include the size, shape, contour, location, topography and internal architecture. The physiochemical profile may well also be included. Understandably, however, the miniatured images of the planar bone scan cannot provide these features in acceptable detail and the same holds true even with SPECT Images which are but sliced views of the reconstructed planar scans. Fortunately pinhole scanning has the capacity to portray both the morphological and chemical profiles of bone and joint diseases in greater detail through true magnification. The magnitude of pinhole scan resolution is practically comparable to that of radiography as far as gross anatomy is concerned. Thus, we feel strongly that pinhole scanning is a potential breakthrough of the long-lamented low specificity of bone scan. This presentation will discuss the fun-damentals, advantages and disadvantages and the most recent advances of pinhole scanning. It high-lights the actual clinical applications of pinhole scanning in relation to the diagnosis of infective and inflammatory diseases of bone and joint.

  • Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) based on III-nitrides compound semiconductors have achieved a high performance device available for display and illumination sector. However, the conventional c-plane oriented LED structures are still showing several problems given by the quantum confined Stark effect (QCSE) due to the effects of strong piezoelectric and spontaneous polarizations. The QCSE results in spatial separation of electron and hole wavefunctions in quantum wells, thereby decreasing the internal quantum efficiency and red-shifting the emission wavelength. Due to demands for improvement of device performance, nonpolar structure has been attracting attentions, since the quantum wells grown on nonpolar templates are free from the QCSE. However, current device performance for nonpolar LEDs is still lower than those for conventional LEDs. In this study, we discuss the potential possibilities of nonpolar LEDs for commercialization. In this study, we characterized current-light output power relation of the a-plane InGaN/GaN LEDs structures with the variation of quantum well structures. On-wafer electroluminescence measurements were performed with short pulse (10 us) and low duty factor (1 %) conditions applied for eliminating thermal effects. The well and barrier widths, and indium compositions in quantum well structures were changed to analyze the efficiency droop phenomenon.

  • This study is aimed at the application of the apparel size system to be applied for the Internet shopping mall in Korea. Especially this is focused on the presumption of the body measurement according to the age groups and the figure groups. In this regard, a sizing system is to be developed that could be used to approach consumers more easily and provide more fitness and accuracy in terms of size. The target study was on a group of women nineteen to forty-nine years of age. The 4th National Anthropometry Survey data were used in the examination. The results in the study are as follows ; (1) On the Internet apparel shopping malls in relation with this study, no matter what size in the ready-to-wear enterprises was selected by the consumers who once put their information in the member registration, the most appropriate sizes for them are automatically given and transferred to the order forms of chosen enterprises with aid of internal programs of the internet webpage. In addition, when consumers enter their body sizes in the units that are familiar to them, such as inches or centimeters, the units are automatically programed so that they can be converted for the sake of convenience. ; (2) To extract an estimation equation of body size through Multiple Regression Analysis, the circumferences of chest and hip could be presumed by stature, weight, and waist circumference of which most consumers were well aware. For more accurate regression equations, groupings were made in the three categories of age(19∼29/30∼39/40∼49) and in the three body types(Type N, A and H). Then, the regression equations were established for three sectors, $\circled1$ 'chest circumference not filled up', $\circled2$ 'hip circumference not filled up' and $\circled3$ 'neither filled up for chest nor for hip circumference'. The final results of regression were presented in

    • Objectives: Shape of face has relations with body shape and body weight in the Korean medicine. We investigated a correlation between a body mass index (BMI) and Dam-Bangkwang Body of Hyung-Sang medicine. Methods: The subjects were 244 adults aged from 45 to 64. A facial shape diagnostic equipment was used to classify Bangkwang Body or Dam Body. Statistical analyses were performed with the SPSS program to compare the correlation of BMI in each group. Results: We measured BMIs of the subjects who have Dam Body or Bangkwang Body which ranges were $22.53{\pm}2.83$ and $24.43{\pm}2.90$, respectively. The BMIs of Dam body subjects were significantly higher than those of Bangkwang Body subjects statistically (P<0.001). In order to verify our hypothesis, we also speculated BMIs of the obese with a BMI over 25. The BMIs of Bangkwang Body subjects were also higher than those of Dam Body subjects (P=0.001). With the width of the face of all subjects, we found that Bangkwang Body subjects whose the width of the face was relatively long had higher levels of BMI and obesity than Dam Body subjects whose height of the face was relatively long. Conclusions: The BMI of the Bangkwang Body is statistically higher than the Dam Body.

    • This study is conducted to understand the social value of Nakwon building, which has been instilled in the architecture of the building, through an analysis of formative elements unique to the center. The architectural characteristics of Nakwon building have been formed over a long period of time in relation with its surroundings and social change. Before looking into the formation of the center, this study investigates the street network planning of downtown. The street network was planned to expand in a north-south direction in order to accommodate a future increase of traffic volume as a result of industrialization and a population increase in downtown. This was manifested in expanding Samilro Street which passes through the lower part of Nakwon building, as well as in forming the architecture of the center. That is, the center has formed a symbiotic relationship with its surrounding areas, sharing space with them. The interior of the center seems to have an independent form while keeping a relationship with its external format, but it is seeking change internally in response to external change. Interior space has been departmentalized over time since its initial establishment, and the internal traffic has also been subdivided accordingly. This is attributable to the fact that social change in the neighboring areas affected the formation of Nakwon building, and that in turn contributed to forming the unique characteristics of the building. Nakwon building is one of the deteriorated buildings in downtown Seoul. However, it was built out of social need to share space within the city, and it has been changed according to social need for the 'distribution of space within the building.

    • This study aims to describe the status quo of the social studies curriculum of universities of education in Korea, to extract the questions at issue, and to suggest new directions for improvement. To approach these purposes, the author grasps the viewpoints that the intensifying course of the department of social studies is investigated with relation not only to the national curriculum on elementary social studies but also to both specialization course and liberal arts course. Intensifying course have been organized to strengthen the teaching-teaming abilities on the subject matter contents since the beginning. But the present day, intensifying course meets several problems waiting solution: problems in reference to overlap with specialization course, to disconnection with liberal arts course, and to the internal disequilibrium. So, the author proposes six solutions for the problems.

    • The molecular phylogeny in nine different commercial cultivated strains of Pleurotus nebrodensis was studied based on their internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region and RAPD. In the sequence of ITS region of selected strains, it was revealed that the total length ranged from 592 to 614 bp. The size of ITS1 and ITS2 regions varied among the strains from 219 to 228 bp and 211 to 229 bp, respectively. The sequence of ITS2 was more variable than ITS1 and the region of 5.8S sequences were identical. Phylogenetic tree of the ITS region sequences indicated that selected strains were classified into five clusters. The reciprocal homologies of the ITS region sequences ranged from 99 to 100%. The strains were also analyzed by RAPD with 20 arbitrary primers. Twelve primers were efficient to applying amplification of the genomic DNA. The sizes of the polymorphic fragments obtained were in the range of 200 to 2000 bp. RAPD and ITS analysis techniques were able to detect genetic variation among the tested strains. Experimental results suggested that IUM-1381, IUM-3914, IUM-1495 and AY-581431 strains were genetically very similar. Therefore, all IUM and NCBI gene bank strains of P. nebrodensis were genetically same with some variations.

    • This study have goal with conceptual design for Offshore Structures of high pressure control valve for localization. Ball valve for development accomplished with flow analysis based on provision of ANSI B16.34, ANSI B16.10, ANSI B16.25 In order to localize the Offshore Structures high pressure control valve. Numerical simulation using CFD(Computational Fluid Dynamic) in order to predict a mass flow rate and a flow coefficient form flow dynamic point of view. The working fluid assumed the glycerin($C_3H_8O_3$). The valve inlet and outlet setup a pressure boundary condition. The outlet pressure was fixed by atmospheric pressure and calculated until increasing 1bar to 10bar. CFD analysis used STAR-CCM+ which is commercial code and Governing equations were calculated by moving mesh which is rotated 90 degrees when ball valve operated opening and closing in 1 degree interval. The result shows change of mass flow rate according to opening and closing angle of valve. Flow decrease observed open valve that equal percentage flow paten which is general inclination of ball valve. Relation with flow and flow coefficient can not be proportional according to inlet pressure when compare with mass flow rate. Because flow coefficient have influence in flow and pressure difference. Namely, flow can be change even if it has same Cv value. The structural analysis used ANSYS which is a commercial code. Stress analysis result of internal pressure in valve showed lower than yield strength. This is expect to need more detail design and verification for stem and seat structure.
