  • In this paper, the effects of the interference environments on the performance of the time hopping(TH) binary PPM impulse radio(IR) system are presented. Based on the monocycle pulse available within the frequency of 3.1~10.6 GHz permitted for application by FCC, a PPM-modulated TH IR system simulator was designed and followed by the analysis of the monocycle pulse characteristics as well as the system performance. Particularly for the evaluation of the system performance, the multiple access interference and the narrowband system interference signals were considered as the interference signals. Since the narrowband system interference signal has very narrow bandwidth and very large amplitude compared with those of IR system, the analysis of the IR system performance was implemented by considering the interference power and band fraction ratio of the narrowband interference signal.

  • In this paper an octagon plan shaped building (study building) in presence of three square plan shaped building is subjected to boundary layer wind flow and the interference effects on the study building is investigated using Computational fluid dynamics. The variation of the pressure coefficients on different faces of the octagon building is studied both in isolated and interference conditions. Interference Factors (IF) are calculated for different faces of the study building which can be a powerful tool for designing similar plan shaped buildings in similar conditions. A metamodel of the IF, in terms of the distances among buildings is also established using Response Surface Method (RSM). This set of equations are optimized to get the optimum values of the distances where the IF is unity. An upstream Interference zone for this building setup and wind environment is established from these data. Uncertainty principle is also utilised to determine the optimum positions of the interfering buildings considering the uncertain nature of wind flow for minimum interference effect. The proposed procedure is observed to be computationally efficient in deciding optimum layout at buildings often required in city planning. The results show that the proposed RSM-based optimization approach captures the interference zone accurately with substantially less number of experiments.

  • Interference alignment (IA) has been a powerful approach to achieve the maximum degree of freedom (DoF) for K users multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) interference channels. However, due to the feasibility constraint, aligning all the interference signals at each receiver is impractical for large K without symbol extension. In this paper, we propose two best-effort interference alignment (BEIA) schemes that the network selects the maximum number of interfering transmitters to align their signals given the feasibility conditions when each transmitter-receiver pair has a constant number of data streams. Besides, in case of not all interfering signals aligned at each receiver, an upper bound of the average throughput is derived. Simulation results show that the proposed schemes have superiority over the traditional methods, such as time division multiple access (TDMA) and cluster IA(CIA), in low and moderate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region in terms of average user throughput. In addition, the proposed max-min relative interference distance alignment scheme outperforms the proposed scheme of equal interfering transmitters number alignment in terms of both average user throughput and minimum user throughput.

  • The general interference is the imperative trouble for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) system. Although interference has bad influences on the performance of the system, it carries energy simultaneously. In this paper, the energy-constrained relay of the SWIPT system needs to spend much time on energy collecting (EC) in the information transmission (IT) period. Therefore, we propose the scheme of interference signal energy collecting (ISEC) when the interference is strong, and the SWIPT system does not carry out IT. The relay of the system continues to collect energy and stores it until the interference has minimal impact on IT. Then the system performs IT. We divide the collected interference energy equally into several parts, and each IT block receives one part. The proposed scheme is appealing because it can reduce the time of EC in IT period to make the relay spends more time forwarding the received signal in order to improve the performance of the system throughput. Furthermore, we propose a time-switching (TS) protocol based on EC at the relay. And it allows the relay forwarding signal at an appropriate power. Under the protocol, the time of EC can be flexible according to the forwarding power that we give so that the collected energy can be used more efficiently. We give the expressions of the system throughput according to the proposed scheme and protocol. Moreover, the influence of the interference power on the system throughput is also studied.

  • In the direct sequence code division multiple access system, the problem of multiple access interference due to multiple access is generated. A interference cancelling receiver is used to solve this problem. The conventional interference cancelling receiver is structure of successive interference canceller using antenna array. In this structure, the difference of between method I and method II depends on updating weight vector. In this paper, the adaptive blind CMA array interference cancelling receiver using cost function of constant modulus algorithms is proposed to update weight vector at conventional structure. The simulation compared the proposed interference cancelling receiver with two conventional interference cancelling receivers by signal to interference ratio and bit error rate curve under additive white Gaussian noise environment. The simulation results show that the proposed receiver has about the gain of SIR of 1.5[dB] more than method I which is conventional receiver at SIR curve, and about the gain of SIR of 0.5(dB) more than method II. In BER curve, the proposed IC receiver about the gain of SNR of 2[dB] more than method I and about the gain of SNR of 0.5[dB] more than method If, Thus, the proposed interference cancelling receiver has the higher performance than conventional interference cancelling receivers.

  • The interference among the rain radars and interference in the adjacent wireless station due to the spurious signals from the rain radar were analyzed in this paper. The rain radar measures the rain intensity using S-band signal. The measured data are utilized in forecasting the rainfall. The interference among the rain radars or in the adjacent wireless stations may be caused by the operation with low elevation angle and the high output power. Based on the propagation analysis of S band signal and the deduced interference protection ratio of rain radar, the interference due to the rain radar are analyzed. Also, the radiation spectrum characteristics of a rain radar are deduced from the caused interference effects by the spurious signals of the rain radar. To minimize the interference effects for adjacent wireless stations, it is required to get the rejection characteristics of spurious signals above 105 dB. In viewpoints of interference for rain radars, it is necessary to operate the rain radar with a different PRF and operation time opposite to adjacent rain radars.

  • In this paper, we propose an empirical framework for modeling and emulating interference in multi-hop wireless ad-hoc networks. Wireless interference causes wide variation in the frame delivery rate at a link, and thus we cannot represent the state of the link with only two states, connected state and disconnected state, as in wired networks. We first investigate wireless interference in detail, in order to accurately calibrate the interference and identify its underlying attributes, and then we simulate the diverse occurrences and effects of interference, after incorporating the scheme into a simulation tool. Based on these observations, we devise a modeling and simulation framework with several control parameters, and perform an extensive set of simulation studies. The simulation results indicate that the proposed framework enables us to examine various attributes of wireless interferences and their effects on wireless network protocols and systems.

  • This paper describes the development of a web-based interference verification system in the mold design process. Although several commercial CAD systems furnish interference verification functions, those systems are very expensive and inadequate to perform collaborative works over the Internet. In this paper, an efficient and precision hybrid interference verification algorithm for the web-based interference verification system over the distributed environment has been studied. The proposed system uses lightweight CAD files produced from the optimally transformed CAD data through ACIS kernel and InterOp. Collaborators related to the development of a new product are able to verify the interference verification over the Internet without commercial CAD systems. The system reduces production cost, errors and lead-time to the market. Validity of the developed system is confirmed through case studies.

  • Interference scenarios involving and a methodology for a terrestrial international mobile telecommunication(IMT) system and mobile-satellite service(MSS) system in a co-channel environment are established. Taking into account a practical deployment situation for both systems, a computational simulation of interference in terms of the ratio of interference power to thermal noise(I/N) is performed in order to evaluate the co-frequency interference with the IMT system caused by the MSS system. The methodology and results could be used for planning an IMT deployment without an unacceptable interference impact caused by the MSS system.

  • In this study, we suggest an emulator for generating multiple heterogeneous interference signals in the Korean radio frequency identification/ubiquitous sensor network (RFID/USN) frequency band. The proposed emulator uses only one universal software radio peripheral to generate multiple heterogeneous interference signals more economically. Moreover, the physical and media access control parameters can be adjusted in real time using the LabVIEW program, thereby making it possible to create various time-varying interference environments easily. As an example showing the capability of the proposed emulator, multiple interference signals consisting of a frequency-hopping RFID signal and two LoRa signals with different spreading factors were generated. The generated signals were confirmed in both frequency and time domains. From the experimental results, we verified that our emulator could successfully generate multiple heterogeneous interference signals with different frequency and time domain characteristics.
