일부 대학생의 외모관리 행동이 구강건강 행동에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Appearance Management Behavior on Oral Practice Behavior of Some College Students)

  • Purpose : The college student period is pivotal for establishing oral health management behaviors and habits that persist in adulthood; it is necessary to develop the correct behaviors. Appearance management behavior not only involves the management of an individual's appearance but also ensures a healthy quality of life. Additionally, it is related to health and oral health behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine how college students' appearance management behavior affects their oral health management behavior and to provide basic data for developing policies appropriate for the lifestyle of college students. Methods : A self-administered questionnaire was completed by 450 university students in Gyeonggi, Choung-nam, Daejeon on April 27, 2022. The survey comprised 5 questions about general characteristics, 18 about appearance management behavior, and 8 about oral health behavior. The sum of the practice questions were calculated, with higher scores indicating better oral health behavior. Results : The oral health management behavior exhibited was generally high. Notably, the health-related group (61.2 %) demonstrated significantly higher levels of clothing management (60.5 %), makeup management (56.6 %), and skincare (56.6 %) behaviors, whereas body management behavior (61.2 %) was deemed 'normal' (p<.05). The results of the stepwise multiple regression analysis examining the impact of appearance management behavior on oral health management indicated that clothing management (β=0.17) and skincare behaviors (β=0.12) were influential factors. Among these, clothing management behavior was the most influential. Conclusion : To promote oral health practices among college students, this study incorporated factors related to appearance management into oral health education to increase participation and interest. We intend our findings to serve as foundational data for developing oral health education programs that integrate elements of appearance management.

라이프스타일 집단에 따른 캐주얼웨어의 한국적 이미지 선호 (Korean Image Preferences Based on Lifestyle Segments)

  • The purposes of this study were to segment consumers by life style groups and to investigate the differences among the segmented groups in regard to Korean image preferences in casual wear. The subjects of the study were 653 women consumers who lived in Seoul. Data were collected from July to September, 2007. Statistical analyses used in the study were factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, and Scheffe test. The results showed that there were seven factors of life style: fashion and appearance interest, pride in Korea, sociability, interest in foreign culture, family centered, sports/culture, and interest in Korean food. Based on the seven factors, the consumers were segmented into three groups. They were fashion/diverse culture interest group, family/recreation oriented group, and sociability/family oriented group. The results showed that there were significant differences among the lifestyle segmented groups in regard to Korean image preferences for color, fabric, pattern, and categories of casual wear, and the intention to purchase the casual wear. For example, fashion/diverse culture interest group preferred diverse Korean prints, red, orange, blue and white colors, natural fabrics, and various types of casual wear. Also, the group has the highest interest and intention in wearing Korean image casual wear.

근거이론에 기초한 자녀의 학업과 외모에 대한 어머니의 대리만족과 소비 분석 (Grounded Theory Analysis on the Substitute Behavior and Consumption of Mothers in terms on their Children's Academic Achievements and Appearances)

  • This study analyzed the substitute behavior of mothers of infants or elementary-school-aged children in terms of consumption. For this study, in-depth interviews were conducted with women residing in the Seoul metropolitan area who show significant interest in their children. The interviews were analyzed based on the grounded theory. The findings of this study are as follows. First, mothers show substitute behavior for their children's appearance. The younger the children, the more substitute consumption exhibited by mothers. As children grow older and are able to choose what to wear, mothers show less substitute behavior tendencies regarding appearance management. Second, mothers tend to exhibit substitute behavior regarding their children's academic achievements. Mothers hope their children will be more successful than themselves were or will achieve the dreams that they failed to accomplish, which drives substitute behavior. Mothers affectionately provide children with financial support so they can obtain academic achievement and they hope their children will have successful occupations in the future. Third, mothers who are not satisfied with their appearance and have low self-esteem are more likely to exhibit substitute behavior with their children. This study will be helpful in understanding mothers' motivation and psychological factors regarding the support of their children.

여교사의 외모에 대한 태도와 헤어 및 메이크업스타일 선호도 -남.녀 고등학생을 중심으로- (The Preference for Attitude of Appearence the Female Teacher's Hair and Make-up Styles focus on the High School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the preference for female teacher's appearance of the high school boys and girls. A survey was conducted on 400 high school sophomores, juniors and seniors in Chungcheong province, who included both boys and girls. And the answer sheets from 396 students were selected for analysis. For data handling, SPSS 12.0 program was employed to make a frequency analysis of every item, and descriptive statistics was utilized for every item as well. In addition, t-test and crosstabs were implemented to look for any possible gaps between the boys and girls. The results were as follows: Boys had a much more interest in the appearance of female teacher's face than girls. High school Students preferred to nature style in hair and make-up. Boys relatively more liked the teachers who were young, elegant and had feminine attraction than girls. Boys preferred to feminine and traditional than girls. But there were significant differences in the preference of hair shape and make-up color between boys and girls.

근거이론에 기초한 플러스 사이즈 여성 소비자의 의류를 중심으로 한 외모관리에 관한 탐색적 연구 (Plus-size Women and Appearance Management with a Focus on Clothing -Grounded Theory Based Exploratory Study-)

  • This study explores various issues of appearance management behavior for plus-size women in Korea with a focus on clothing. In-depth interviews and focused group interviews were conducted with 24 plus-size women. The interviews were recorded and the transcripts were analyzed based on grounded theory. Discomfort was the main phenomenon involving the experience of plus-size women related to appearance management. Psychological as well as physiological/physical discomfort, unmet needs (regarding clothing) and inconvenient shopping experiences were frequently mentioned. Causal conditions for discomfort were obesity, social stigma, and an underdeveloped clothing market for plus-size consumers. Interviewees developed strategies to cope with discomfort (suppressing clothing need, loss of interest in clothing, diversion from clothing needs, sole focus on physical comfort, dress-up and increase in shopping channels, and change in shopping patterns) that depended on contextual conditions (such as duration of obesity and attitudes of people) close to the interviewees. The discomfort of interviewees decreased or continued depending on if they became ambivalent about their obese condition, lost weight, or utilized plus-size specialty stores.

남성 네일관리와 네일아트에 대한 인식 및 관심도에 미치는 요인분석: 20-30대를 중심으로 (Factor Analysis of Awareness and Interest in Male Nail Care and Nail Art among People in Their 20s and 30s)

  • This study aimed to identify factors influencing awareness and interest in male nail care and nail art among people in their 20s and 30s, using a survey that included 390 men and women. The survey consisted of sub-factors, including awareness of appearance management, interest in nails, perception of male nail care and nail art, behavioral factors in nail care, and image factors in nail care. The results showed that the overall average interest in male nail care and nail art was 3.76, which fell between "average" and "yes". Women showed higher interest in male nail care than men did. While there was no statistically significant difference in the average value, interest in male nail care and nail art was higher among those in their 30s than those in their 20s. Unmarried individuals showed more interest in male nail care than married ones, and higher levels of education were associated with higher interest. In terms of occupation, service workers showed the highest interest in male nail care and nail art. In conclusion, the findings suggest the need for marketing research that caters to the development of services and programs targeting the male nail industry. The study also highlights the importance of segmenting and differentiating marketing strategies that target male and female customers with a high interest in male nail care and nail art. Based on these findings, this study aims to provide direction for the male nail care industry and serve as a basis for the development of customized programs. Additionally, it aims to provide basic data to aid in the development of the nail industry in Gyeongnam.

A Study on the Effect of Beauty Service of the Elderly on Successful Ageing: Focused on Mediated Effect of Self-esteem

  • The interest in decrepitude expanded by graying is gradually growing in modern society. Moreover, he concern over decrepitude along with healthy mind and body is increasing. Therefore, there are many concerns and efforts toward physical and mental health. In addition, the interest in and effort for appearance health and value is rising as well as physical and mind health. The middle age is the most stable age based on the economic and social status that had been achieved through the life, but it is the most stressful age due to physical health problem and appearance ageing. There are many advanced studies for self-esteem and life satisfaction in old age by using hair, skin-care, cosmetic, nail-art among beauty related fields but studies on self-esteem and perception of successful ageing through user satisfaction of beauty service is lacking. This study is aiming to verify empirically the positive effect of self-esteem improvement through user satisfaction of beauty service on perception of successful ageing for middle-aged over 50 years old. The study has assumed that the higher middle-aged's satisfaction of beauty service is, the more self-esteem improves and there has a mediated effect to contribute successful ageing.

여성 환자의 부정적 정서 감소를 위한 패션테라피 적용 (Application of the fashion therapy to reduce negative emotions of female patients)

  • In this study, it is explored the effect of fashion therapy on depression, positive emotion, negative emotion, appearance interest, body satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy of female patients. Eight cancer patients and 12 general patients participated in the 4-week fashion therapy program. When comparing results before and after the fashion therapy, depression and negative emotions were significantly decreased while positive emotions and self-efficacy were significantly increased. There was no significant influence on appearance interest, body satisfaction, self-esteem, and self-efficacy. In group comparison, significant changes were observed in depression, positive emotion and negative emotion regardless of groups. However, cancer patients indicated a significant improvement in self-efficacy compared to general patients who did not whereas patients with a high level of depression showed a significant enhancement on body satisfaction compared to patients with a low level of depression. Also, patients with a low level of pain indicated a significant improvement on self-esteem and self-efficacy compared to patients with a high level of pain. Perceived effect and satisfaction of the fashion therapy were relatively high. Study results may positively contribute to building a knowledge and experimental base of fashion therapy that is widely applicable to diverse parties for the future.

  • 여성의 사회참여가 증가할수록 외모에 대한 관심과 표현은 더욱 두드러지고 있다. 그중에 특히 여성들의 패션에 대한 관심은 매우 증가하고 있는 추세이다. 여성들의 외모에 대한 관심이 증가함으로써 여성들의 패션 마케팅에 대한 요구가 점차 증가하고 있으며, 그만큼 여성 패션 시장이 확대되어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 여성의 패션 시장을 중심으로 여성 패션에 대한 마케팅 활성화 전략에 대해 살펴보고 전략을 제시해고보가 한다. 본 연구의 여성 패션 활성화 전략을 통해서 여성패션 마케팅 시장에서 경쟁력있는 기대 효과를 얻을 수 있다.

도시 보행자가로의 체험에 있어서 '어번픽춰레스크'적 특성에 관한 연구 - 덕수궁길, 인사동길, 명동길의 사례를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Characteristics of the'Urban Picturesque' in the Experience of an Urban Pedestrian Street - A Case of the Duksugung-gil, Insadong-gil and Myoungdong-gil -)

  • 불규칙성(irregularity)과 다양성(variety)을 특징으로 한 18세기 낭만주의 조경의 픽춰레스크 미학은 19세기 도시 가로형태에 적용되어 '어번픽춰레스크(Urban Picturesque)'라는 개념으로 불리게 된다. 선행연구가 가로의 어번픽춰레스크 특징 중 물리적 형태에만 국한하여 보행체험의 흥미도에 미치는 영향관계를 보려 했던 한계점을 보완하기 위하여 본 연구는 물리적 측면과 활동적 측면의 양대 인자를 보행흥미 도를 결정하는 변수로 설정하였다. 사례연구에서는 서울의 보행자중심 가로들을 대상으로 하여 '어번픽춰레스크'적 특성에 따른 물리적 측면과 활동적 측면의 설문조사를 통하여 도시 가로설계에서 '어번픽춰레스크' 개념의 적용가능성을 모색 하고자 하였다. 실증적 조사분석을 통한 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 덕수궁길이 물리적으로는 픽쳐레스크한 특징을 더욱 많이 갖추고 있었음에도 실제의 보행흥미도에서는 인사동길이 더 높게 나타났다. 그 이유는, 인사동길이 덕수궁길에서 보이는 가로의 다양한 형태변화의 속성과 명동길에서 보이는 다양한 활동적 측면의 요소, 그리고 가로의 독특한 분위기 등을 동시에 복합적으로 갖추고 있는 가로이기 때문인 것으로 파악되었다. 이로써 도시환경의 물리적인 형태와 활동적인 요소는 복합적으로 작용하여 가로의 보행체험에 영향을 주는 것으로 파악되었다. 결론적으로, 현대도시의 보행자가로에서 '어번픽춰레스크'적 특성이 이용자에게 보다 흥미롭고 매력적으로 느껴지게 하기 위해서는 가로의 물리적 형태와 더불어 각 가로상황에 맞는 활동적 측면이 활성화되어야만 한다는 것을 알 수 있었다.
