  • Nowadays, it is surely the quack which stands as one of the most controversial, problematic. the quack has been a consistent target of contested public protection strategies in the past few centuries in many countries. Recently, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is increasingly utilized and accepted by patients and providers throughout the health care system in the world, most accounts attribute this growing acceptability to the shortcomings of conventional medicine, the appeal of CAM's core beliefs, and the growing body of research indicating that CAM actually works. However, the governments of western countries have called for measures to ensure that the public are protected from incompetent and dangerous practitioners. Common to these controversies has been a suggestion to ban, exclude or limit the medical practice of those deemed to be damaging rather than improving the health of individuals as a measure of public protection. This article describes the experiences of western counties' health care system which is moving in a more pluralistic direction. By examining the ways in which regulatory efforts in the countries have come to address what is invariably described as a growing interest in CAM, this study show how the problem of CAM/quackery today is increasingly located in an ethical field of practitioner competency, qualifications, conduct, responsibility and personal professional development, regardless of the form of therapy in question. Many countries developed a series of measures and strategies to contain the acceptance of CAM groups, such as insisting on scientific evidence of safety and efficacy, resisting integration of CAM with conventional medicine and opposing government support for research and education. In a sense, those countries' movements serve to protect not only patients, but the dominant position of medicine and its allied professions, and to maintain existing jurisdictional boundaries within the healthcare system. The popular support for CAM will require that health professional stakeholders continue to address the challenges this poses, and at the same time protect their position at healthcare system. To cope with the quack, professional body, public sector and health authorities should consider the safety of consumers of healthcare and responding to the demands of the community for CAM therapies as well as the claims of the established healthcare professions. Finally, some implications for future health care were suggested.

  • We investigated middle school students' awareness of Han-style(Korean cuture) in order to promote it, and developed and applied the Teaching-Learning Lesson Plan according to the traditional clothing culture contents related to Han Style. We selected 5 major fields representing Han Style including Han-gul(Korean alphabet). Han-sik(Korean food). Han-bok(Korean traditional clothes). Han-ji(Korean traditional paper), and Han-ok(Korean traditional house). We analyzed the contents of the food, clothing and shelter in 6 types of high school testbooks under the revised 7th national curriculum, and chose seven traditional clothing-lifestyle culture contents. Also we developed 14-period processes and materials(9 for teachers. 9 for students and 3 for and applied it to usual classes. The mean score of middle school students' awareness of Han Style in the post-test was significantly higher than that in the pre-test. Students evaluated it positively that the classes could raise the pride on the Han-culture and provoke the interest in it through the direct experiencing activities. We suggest that the various themes on Han-style should be developed, and the theoretical classes on the identity as well as the experiencing activities on it.

  • Game character customizing has evolved with the desires of users who want to enjoy the scarcity value; thereby, the category which is subjected to character customizing is extending. However, despite such a great interest, character customizing interface has been created for the sake of the convenience of each game developing company, without proven guidelines. The confusion of designers who create interface is caused by using independently created interface without testing the optimal form of interface according to manipulative activity which integrates game character customizing interface, and this confusion leads to the discomfort of users. All the more, studies on character customizing have been mostly concerned with the preference for certain characters according to user propensity or character producing methods. Therefore, basic research into interface relative to character customizing is insufficient. Accordingly, through the development of universal guidelines appropriate for game character customizing interface. the discomfort of users is to be removed. This paper conducted an investigative analysis of the current interface of games which support character customizing, and classified the type of interface. Then, the paper researched 16 types of games that support character customizing out of games ranked within top 50 in the on-line game ranking. As a result of the analysis, the characteristic feature of every game appeared in the offer of detailed optional factors. Those detailed optional factors could be classified, to some extent; however, their manipulative interfaces were discovered not to be classified into different types. The results of this paper will be used as an analytic system in the preparation of the guidelines of game character customizing interface, down the road.

  • The international community has done a lot of effort to improve the aviation safety. The new high technologies, systems and development of navigation equipments considerably improved the level of aviation safety. However, the aviation accident rate has been showing unchanged status without the decline since 1980. It means it is difficult to secure enough safety by the existing efforts to improve the aviation safety, eventually needs new methods for the accident prevention. With this in mind, the nations interest new methods that can consider a countermeasure by realizing potential risk factors before fatal accidents. In other words, that is to analyze and share the safety information collected from accidents by establishing aviation safety information system. To establish international aviation safety information system, each country's aviation accident incident reporting systems are need to be established. Also aviation safety data taxonomy is need to be standardized. Then, aviation users will communicate the information efficiently. This study investigates and considers each country's aviation accident incident database taxonomy for the analysis of the aviation data and the necessary prevention activity. This will contribute to a better international aviation safety and strengthen the country's aviation diplomacy.

  • Price rigidity involves prices that do not change with the regularity predicted by standard economic theory. It is of long-standing interest for firms, industries and the economy as a whole. However, due to the difficulty of measuring price rigidity and price adjustments directly, only a few studies have attempted to provide empirical evidence for explanatory theories from Economics and Marketing. This paper proposes and validates a research model to examine different theories of price rigidity and to predict what variables can explain the observed empirical regularities and variations in price adjustment patterns of Internet-based retailers. I specify and test a model using more than 3 million daily observations on 385 books, 118 DVDs and 154 CDs, sold by 22 Internet-based retailers that were collected over a 676-day period from March 2003 to February 2005. I obtained a number of interesting findings from the estimation of our logit model. First, quality seems to play a role-I find that both price levels as proxies for store quality, and information on the quality of a product consumers have, affect online price rigidity. Second, greater competition(i.e., less industry concentration) leads to less price rigidity(i.e., more price changes) on the Internet. I also find that Internet-based sellers more frequently change the prices of popular products, and the sellers with broader product coverage change prices less frequently, which seem due to economic forces faced by these Internet-based sellers. To the best of my knowledge, this research is the first to empirically assess price rigidity patterns for multiple industries in Internet-based retailing, and attempt to explain the variation in these patterns. I found that price changes are more likely to be driven by quality, competitive and economic considerations. These results speak to both the IS and economics literatures. To the IS literature these results suggest we take economic considerations into account in more sophisticated ways. The existence and variation in price rigidity argue that simplistic assumptions about frictionless and completely flexible digital prices do not capture the richness of pricing behavior on the Internet. The quality, competitive and economic forces identified in this model suggest promising directions for future theoretical and empirical work on their role in these technologically changing markets. To the economics literature these results offer new evidence on the sources of price rigidity, which can then be incorporated into the development of models of pricing at the firm, industry and even macro-economic level of analysis. It also suggests that there is much to be learned through interdisciplinary research between the IS, economics and related business disciplines.

  • The oriental medicine based on the traditional Chinese medicine has developed characteristically according to the history and racial character respectively; China, Korea and Japan. Japan, among these nations, has accepted western medicine earlier than other nations and has tried to compare western and oriental medicine and combine them. In Japanese traditional medicine, it is characteristic that the old medical classics focusing on Sanghannon (傷寒論) and Geumgyeyoryak(金?要略) has developed The recent tendencies of clinical medicine and researches in Korean oriental medicine are mostly about the study of oriental medicine in view of western medicine and the combination of western and oriental medical treatment like Japan. But the study on the Japanese oriental medicine hasn't so far been tried before in Korea. From now on, we should not overlook that a more interest on Japanese oriental medicine will be very useful. Therefore we have surveyed the background of its origin and the process of development of the theory of ${\ulcorner}$Qi, Blood and Body Fluids${\lrcorner}$. What we wish to show in this paper is to provide a source for the basic understanding by explaining a fundamental theory of physiology and pathology of Japanese oriental medicine. Concepts of ${\ulcorner}$Qi, Blood and Body Fluids${\lrcorner}$ suggested by Nangai Yoshimashi in 1792 is the way of thinking that the circulation of 3 factors- ${\ulcorner}$Qi, Blood and Body Fluids${\lrcorner}$ nourish human body. Among these 3 factors, if Qi does not function smoothly, it causes the condition of a disease like Qi-deficiency, imbalance of Qi-distribution or Qi-depression and stasis; in Blood's case, deficiency of Blood and Blood stasis; and as for Body Fluids, stasis of Body Fluids. In the recent trend of study, there's a try to combining the western and oriental medicine, Qi is considered as psychoneurotic system, Blood as circulatory and endocrinologic system and Body Fluids as immunologic system.

  • Interest of the hand effect on the electromagnetic wave are internationally increasing with the increase of the use of the mobile phone. IEC TC106(International Electrotechnical Commission, Technical Committee 106) promotes international research exchange program in order to reflect the effect of human hands in the standard assessment method of human exposure dosimetry by the electromagnetic wave of mobile phones. Since current commercialized hand phantom is manufactured by taking into account the average size of westerners and provides only one grip posture, it imposes many restrictions on the accurate SAR measurement. Therefore, the development of proper hand phantom accounting for domestic situation and various grip posture capability is essential in order to analyze the accurate effect of human hand on the exposure estimation. In this paper, a jelly hand phantom suitable for Korean was manufactured with various grip posture capability at 835 MHz and 1,800 MHz bands. Although the tolerances of permittivity and conductivity of the manufactured hand phantom are with ${\pm}10%$ each, it was much less than CTIA(Cellular Telecommunication Industry Association) tolerance of ${\pm}20%$ at both bands. Its 3D CAD(3 Dimensional Computer Aided Design) file which was developed can be utilized for the simulation of human hand effect on SAR measurement of mobile phones. The findings in this study can be utilized for the analysis of human hand effect on SAR measurement of a mobile phone.
