How Competitive and Stable is the Commercial Banking Industry in China after Bank Reforms?

  • This paper examines market concentration and its effect on competition in the Chinese commercial banking market. This study also investigates how changes in competition have affected the financial stability of Chinese commercial banks. To test the competitive conditions, we obtained the H statistic of the Panzar-Rosse model from a revenue function equation. The degree of financial stability is estimated by the Z-score formula. The Chinese banking industry has become an increasingly less concentrated market with an increased number of banks. Along with a decreased market concentration, competition in the Chinese banking industry has improved moderately. However, its market structure is still far from a competitive market. An individual bank's ability to earn higher markup or charge a higher net interest margin contributes to its financial soundness, although a higher degree of market concentration may have negative effect on the financial stability of the entire banking system.

  • The present design, which is English Zone Development Project for 'G' Elementary School at Seo gu, Incheon, contained various booths for experiential learning corners as well as spaces of teaching learning through group study, dramas and role plays, breaking away from the structure and atmosphere of traditional language labs, and at the same time it include a school building as an affiliated space where the whole students can gather for discussion and learning. The general design concept adopted the atmosphere of an exotic street, installing five theme booths (airport, bank, hospital, book/game store and shop) along the wall and applying the image of road to the floor in order to perform role plays. The blackboard and furniture were also designed to produce the atmosphere of street so that elementary students take interest and actively participate in learning.

  • New methodology of parameter calibration is proposed for TCAD simulation of nMOSFET in ESD(Electro-Static Discharge) protection circuits. Recently, TLP(Transmission Line Pulsing) measurement has received great interest due to the ability of analyzing device characteristics when ESD pulse is applied to the ESD pulse is applied to the ESD protection circuits. This paper describes new methodology of analyizing TLP measurement, TCAD simulation, and parameter calibration.

  • In recent years there has been considerable interest in the network GPS RTK surveying. Single RTK has some limit in long distance and it has an accuracy problem depend on the baseline length. The significant improvement of GPS network technology, RTCM V3.0 correction format and telecommunication technology can eliminate the weakness of single GPS RTK.   • Human Computer Interaction is rapidly growing in different aspects and areas. One of the areas that grab many scholars and researchers interest is usability. Usability is a main factor and critical pillar of products success and acceptance. In this paper, we deeply analyze the current usability models that measure the user performance during the interaction with products. Then, we fairly compare between each model to discover and present the strength and weakness of each model for supporting developer and business organization with guidelines during the development process of the products before launching the actual and final one. Decomposing comparison between each model is performed based on specific criteria. Comparison is tabulated, graphically depicted, and analytically decomposed.

  • Many recent events, such as terrorist attacks, exposed defects in most sophisticated security systems. Therefore, it is necessary to improve security data systems based on the body or behavioral characteristics, often called biometrics. Together with the growing interest in the development of human and computer interface and biometric identification, human face recognition has become an active research area. Face recognition appears to offer several advantages over other biometric methods. Nowadays, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) has been widely adopted for the face recognition algorithm. Yet still, PCA has limitations such as poor discriminatory power and large computational load. This paper proposes a novel algorithm for face recognition using a mid band frequency component of partial information which is used for PCA representation. Because the human face has even symmetry, half of a face is sufficient for face recognition. This partial information saves storage and computation time. In comparison with the traditional use of PCA, the proposed method gives better recognition accuracy and discriminatory power. Furthermore, the proposed method reduces the computational load and storage significantly.

A Primer for Disease Gene Prioritization Using Next-Generation Sequencing Data

  • High-throughput next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology produces a tremendous amount of raw sequence data. The challenges for researchers are to process the raw data, to map the sequences to genome, to discover variants that are different from the reference genome, and to prioritize/rank the variants for the question of interest. The recent development of many computational algorithms and programs has vastly improved the ability to translate sequence data into valuable information for disease gene identification. However, the NGS data analysis is complex and could be overwhelming for researchers who are not familiar with the process. Here, we outline the analysis pipeline and describe some of the most commonly used principles and tools for analyzing NGS data for disease gene identification.

Molecular orientation and electrical properties of TCNQ ultrathin organic films (TCNQ 유기초박막의 분자 배향 및 전기적 특성)

  • A study on the electrical conduction characteristics of the ultrathin organic films is one of the important factors for the development of molecular electronic devices. The Langmuir- Blodgett(LB) technique has recently been attracted interest as a method of the deposition ultrathin films. We hate fabricated N-docosyl N\`-methyl viologen-diTCNQ(DMVT) anion radical LB film and investigated the molecular orientation and electrical conduction characteristics. We have measured infrared transmission-reflection spectra. The alkyl chain is found to he well-ordered with the tilt angle of 13$^{\circ}$ with respect to the substrate surface normal and the TCNQ plane is tilted at 76$^{\circ}$ the surface normal. In ESR spectrum, we confirmed that a half-amplitude linewidth is clearly dependent on the incident angle, which indicates conducting species change. The in-plane conductivity of 31 lagers is approximately 1.33$\times$10$^{-6}$ S/cm. The ohmic behaviour was observed below 0.6 V, when current-voltage(I-V) characteristics was measured verically.
