Load Allocation Strategy for Command and Control Networks based on Interdependence Strength

  • Command and control networks(C2N) exhibit evident multi-network interdependencies owing to their complex hierarchical associations, interleaved communication links, and dynamic network changes. However, the existing command and control networks do not consider the effects of dependent nodes on the load distribution. Thus, we proposed a command and control networks load allocation strategy based on interdependence strength. First, a new measure of interdependence strength was proposed based on the edge betweenness, which was followed by proposing the inter-layer load allocation strategy based on the interdependence strength. Eventually, the simulation experiments of the aforementioned strategy were designed to analyze the network invulnerability with different initial load capacity parameters, allocation model parameters, and allocation strategies. The simulation indicates that the strategy proposed in this study improved the node survival rate of the interdependent command and control networks model and successfully prevented cascade failures.

EEG Nonlinear Interdependence Measure of Brain Interactions under Zen Meditation

  • This work investigates the characteristics of brain interactions of experienced Zen-Buddhist practitioners by obtaining multichannel EEG (electroencephalogram) data. Brain interactions were compared among three phases-40-minute meditation (M), 5-minute Chakra-focusing practice (Z) and rest with closed eyes (R). The similarity index S, developed in nonlinear dynamical system theory, was employed to measure the degree of possibly asymmetric coupling. Meditators exhibited, overall, stronger interactions among multiple cortical areas in meditation stages M and Z than in the R state. This enhancement was greater in the M stage when the meditator was accompanied by a thought-free and fully consciousness state. In the high-frequency band (>13Hz), the interdependence was also higher in both meditation stages than at baseline rest. However, the interaction strength, especially in the posterior regions, was greatest in the Z stage, which involved internal attention. Few electrode pairs were observed with significant pair-wise asymmetry in the Z state. The similarity is a possible characteristic of dense reciprocal and strong mutual interactions between multiple cortical areas during meditation - especially in the Z state in the high-frequency band. These results demonstrate that profound Zen meditation induces various dynamic states in different phases of meditation, possibly reflected by nonlinear interdependence measure.

중노년기 부부의 운동참여가 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향에 관한 악력 궤적의 매개효과 (The mediation effect of grip strength trajectory on the association between exercise participation and life satisfaction among couples)

  • 본 연구는 45세 이상 중노년기 부부를 대상으로 부부의 운동참여가 악력의 종단적 변화 궤적을 매개로 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 남편과 아내의 상호의존성에 기반하여 탐색하고자 한다. 이를 위해 전국단위의 자료수집을 실시한 한국고령화연구패널의 1차(2006년)에서 6차(2016년)까지의 종단자료를 활용하였다. 연구대상은 1차년도에 45세 이상인 중노년기 부부 1,997쌍이다. 본 연구의 종속변수는 남편과 아내 각각의 삶의 만족도이며, 매개변수는 남편과 아내 각각의 악력의 초기값과 변화량, 독립변수는 부부의 운동참여이다. 분석과정은 상관분석, 평행잠재성장모형의 기초모형과 연구모형 분석, 매개경로에 관한 간접효과 검증의 세 단계로 진행되었다. 상관분석 결과 중노년기 부부인 남편과 아내는 동일 시점에서의 악력, 삶의 만족도와 관련하여 유의한 상관성을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 평행잠재성장모형의 기초모8형 분석결과에 따르면 시간이 흐름에 따라 평균적으로 중노년기 남편과 아내의 악력이 감소하는 경향이 있는데, 악력의 초기값에 대해서는 부부인 남편과 아내의 상관성이 발견되었지만 악력의 종단적 변화량에 대해서는 상관성이 발견되지 않았다. 연구모형 분석결과에서 발견된 유의한 직접효과들을 토대로 매개경로에 관한 간접효과 검증을 실시한 결과, 부부의 운동참여가 남편의 악력 초기값을 매개로 남편의 삶의 만족도와 아내의 삶의 만족도에 영향을 미치는 두 개의 종단적 경로가 통계적으로 유의하였다. 이와 더불어 남편만 운동에 참여하는 것 역시 남편의 악력 초기값을 매개로 아내의 삶의 만족도에 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 본 연구결과는 중노년기 부부의 노화 과정이 부부의 젠더관계와 상호의존성 맥락에서 이해될 필요가 있다는 것과 중노년기 부부의 운동참여를 증진시키고, 신체적 기능 감퇴를 예방하여 삶의 질을 증진하기 위해서는 부부단위의 접근이 필요하다는 것을 시사한다.

Bus-waveguide-width Dependence of Evanescent Wave Coupling in a Microring Resonator

  • The evanescent wave coupling of a microring resonator is controlled by changing the gap distance between the bus waveguide and the microring waveguide. However, the interdependence of the bus waveguide's width and the coupling is not well understood. In this paper, we investigate the dependence of coupling strength on the bus waveguide's width. The strength of the evanescent wave coupling is analytically calculated using coupled-mode theory (CMT) and numerically calculated by three-dimensional finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) simulation. The analytic and numerical simulation results show that the phase-matching condition in evanescent wave coupling does not provide maximum coupling strength, because both phase-matching and mode confinement influence the coupling. The analytic and simulation results for the evanescent coupling correspond to the experimental results. The optimized bus-waveguide width that provides maximum coupling strength results in intrinsic quality factors of up to 1.3 × 106. This study provides reliable guidance for the design of microring resonators, depending on various applications.

Effect of Atmospheric Plasma Treatments on Mechanical Properties of VGCF/Epoxy

  • Vapor grown carbon fibers (VGCF) were treated with atmospheric plasma enhancing the surface area in order to improve the bonding to the matrix in epoxy composites. The changes in the mechanical properties of VGCF/epoxy nanocompostes, such as tensile modulus and tensile strength were investigated in this study. VGCF with and without atmospheric plasma treatment for surface modification were used in this investigation. The interdependence of these properties on the VGCF contents and interfacial bonding between VGCF/epoxy matrix were discussed. The mechanical properties of atmospheric plasma treated (APT) VGCF/epoxy were compared with raw VGCF/epoxy. The tensile strength of APT VGCF/epoxy nanocomposites showed higher value than that of raw VGCF. The tensile strength was increased with atmospheric plasma treatment, due to better adhesion at VGCF/epoxy interface. The tensile modulus of raw VGCF and APT VGCF/epoxy matrix were of the similar value. The dispersion of the VGCF was investigated by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), SEM micrographs showed an excellent dispersion of VGCF in epoxy matrix by ultrasonic method.

부부의 개인별 덕목과 부부 덕목이 결혼만족도에 미치는 효과 (The Effects of Individual Virtues and Couple's Virtues on Marital Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 부부의 개인별 덕목이 결혼만족도에 미치는 효과와 부부 덕목이 결혼 만족도에 미치는 효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 개인별 덕목이란 개인이 지닌 가치 있고 바람직한 핵심 특성을 의미한다. 부부 덕목이란 부부가 함께 공유하는 덕목을 의미한다. 한국인 부부 107쌍(남 107명, 여 107명)이 연구에 참여하였다. 축약판 개인 덕목 척도(Values in Action-Inventory of Strengths: VIA-IS), 개인 덕목 척도를 바탕으로 연구자가 문항을 재기술한 부부 덕목 척도, 부부의 전반적인 결혼 만족을 측정하기 위해 한국판 결혼만족도 검사 중 전반적 불만족 척도(K-MSI, General Dissatisfaction Scale: GDS)를 역채점한 척도가 사용되었다. 부부의 자료가 상호의존적인 특수한 관계임을 감안, APIM(Actor-Parter Interdependence Model) (Cook & Kenny, 2005; Kenny, Kashy, Cook, & Simpson, 2006)을 적용하였고 이를 구조방정식 모형을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 개인 덕목 대비 더 다양한 부부 덕목이 결혼만족도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 끝으로 부부가 덕목을 개인적으로 지니기보다는 함께 공유하는 것의 중요성을 논의하였다.

Influence of Allylamine Plasma Treatment Time on the Mechanical Properties of VGCF/Epoxy

  • The allylamine plasma treatment is used to modify the surface properties of vapor grown carbon fibers (VGCF). It is to improve the interfacial bonding between the VGCF and epoxy matrix. The allylamine plasma process was performed by batch process in a vacuum chamber, using gas injection followed by plasma discharge for the durations of 20, 40 and 60 min. The interdependence of mechanical properties on the VGCF contents, treatment time and interfacial bonding between VGCF/ep was investigated. The interfacial bonding between VGCF and epoxy matrix was observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) micrographs of nanocomposites fracture surfaces. The changes in the mechanical properties of VGCF/ep, such as the tensile modulus and strength were discussed. The mechanical properties of allylamine plasma treated (AAPT) VGCF/ep were compared with those of raw VGCF/ep. The tensile strength and modulus of allyamine plasma treated VGCF40 (40 min treatment)/ep demonstrated a higher value than those of other samples. The mechanical properties were increased with the allyamine plasma treatment due to the improved adhesion at VGCF/ep interface. The modification of the carbon nanofibers surface was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). SEM micrographs showed an excellent dispersion of VGCF in epoxy matrix by ultrasonic method.

다변량분석을 이용한 터널에서의 간편 RMR에 관한 연구 (A Study of Simple Rock Mass Rating for Tunnel Using Multivariate Analysis)

  • Rock Mass Rating has been widely applied to the underground tunnel excavation and many other practical problems in rock engineering. However, Rock Mass Rating is hard to make out because it is difficult to estimate each valuation items through all kind of field situations and items of RMR have interdependence. So the experts of tunnel assessment have problems with rating rock mass. In this study, using multivariate analysis based on domestic data(1011EA) of water conveyance tunnel, we presented rock mass rating system which is objective and easy to use. The constituents of RMR are decided to RQD, condition of discontinuities, groundwater conditions, orientation of discontinuities, intact rock strength, spacing of discontinuities in important order. In each step, we proposed the best multiple regression model for RMR system. And using data which have been collected at other site, we examined that presented multiple regression model was useful.

  • Recently industry has voiced a need for optimally designing the production process of low-cost, high-quality ingots by improving productivity and reducing production costs with the Czochralski process. Crystalline defect control is important for the production of high-quality ingots. Also oxygen is one of the most important impurities that influence crystalline defects in single crystals. Oxygen is dissolved into the silicon melt from the silica crucible and incorporated into the crystalline a far larger amount than other additives or impurities. Then it is eluted during the cooling process, there by causing various defect. Excessive quantities of oxygen degrade the quality of silicone. However an appropriate amount of oxygen can be beneficial. because it eliminates metallic impurities within the silicone. Therefore, when growing crystals, an attempt should be made not to eliminate oxygen, but to uniformly maintain its concentration. Thus, the control of oxygen concentration is essential for crystalline growth. At present, the control of oxygen concentration is actively being studied based on the interdependence of various factors such as crystal rotation, crucible rotation, argon flow, pressure, magnet position and magnetic strength. However for methods using a magnetic field, the initial investment and operating costs of the equipment affect the wafer pricing. Hence in this study simulations were performed with the purpose of producing low-cost, high-quality ingots through the development of a process to optimize oxygen concentration without the use of magnets and through the following. a process appropriate to the defect-free range was determined by regulating the pulling rate of the crystals.

  • One faces four major developmental tasks to achieve in young adulthood, ages between 20 and 40 : intimacy, vocation, marriage and child-rearing. Intimacy is the capacity to commit oneself to concrete affiliations and partnerships and to develop the ethical strength to abide by such commitments, even though they call for significant sacrifices and compromises. Through vocation and marriage young adults become united to networks of persons, find tasks that demand involvement, and gain roles into which they fit and are fitted and which help define their identities. An occupation represents much more than a set of skills and functions : it means a way of life. The extent of vocational choice increases with educational level, and the unconscious factors are frequency the decisive element. The vocational choice stare with fantasy choices in childhood, passes through tentative choices in adolescence, realistic choices in college days, and crystallized choices in post-college days, and finally ends up to the choice of specification. Along with the hazards and the need for realignment of personality functioning, the marriage brings with it new opportunities for self-fulfillment and completion. Motives other than a romantic love gain more importance in the decision to marry and in the choice of a partner. The impulsions to marry are sexual gratification, the desire to propagate, narcissistic gratification, and a need of interdependence. Many factors such as oedipal wishes, sexuality and sexual attractions, socio-economic classes, and geography involve in selection of marriage partner. There are also various motivations to marry a romantic love, the desire for a home of one's own, sexual attractions, the wish for security and a shelter, and the wish for children. The hostile marriage, the marriage on the rebound, the marriage rooted in rescue fantasies, and sado-masochistic marriage are the examples of pathological marriages. A successful marriage will usually both Lead to and require a marked reorganization of the personality structure of each partner that will influence the lurker personality development of each. Many marital problems are largely dependent upon the personality characteristics of one partner which might well create difficulties no manor who was the spouse.
