  • A game story that used to be free needs a work of concrete and artificial organizing and arranging these days. This is because a game story is frequently made into a new genre such as a movie or an animation. As shown in many previous studies, most of the movies made from successful digital games failed to receive satisfying box office results. To overcome this, narratively completed storytelling should be presented from the development phase of a game. The methods are as follows: It is necessary to maximize the synergy effect through the interaction between storytelling experts, game developers, animators, and movie producers in developing a game. This will help to create a game with more sophisticated and complete narrative structure than now. It is necessary to secure the diversification of game genres. Currently in Korea, online games are unusually leading the game industry. PC games or console games are more advantageous than online games for putting a finished narrative structure into a game.

  • This research discusses the unique characteristics of Japanese video game from the cultural viewpoint of Japan's traditional play. It starts with the possibility that Japanese video game can share the characteristics of traditional Japanese play. Accordingly, this research first considers the connection between play and video game for a theoretical background, by comparing their theoretical definitions and characteristics. Particularly, it shows the research direction from the viewpoint of Ludology that approaches video game from the aspect of play. Second, the characteristics of traditional Japanese play are examined in connection with Japan's inherent animism culture. Based on such characteristics, the common characteristics and backgrounds of Japanese video game and traditional Japanese play are discussed from the 'spatial' aspect of game, from the 'identity' aspect of game characters, and from the 'motive' behind playing game.

  • The virtual world is a cyber gaming space where a player interacts with others through their avatars. It is now mainly developed in foreign countries including USA, Canada, and Europe and many experts say that the market capacity of virtual world will be continually expanded in worldwide. The virtual world will mostly be made such that a user accesses the world for free and pays for in-game activities. But it is hardly that we find the effective methodology of payment system for such virtual world due to its' short development history. In the case of Korea, various payment methods of selling in-game assets have been tested in online games. The paper propose an effective revenue model for social virtual world focused on selling in-game assets. The guideline of the proposed revenue model will be expected to contribute creating revenue focused on selling in-game assets, effectively for social virtual world.

  • Advances in display technology, stereoscopic (S3D) in the development of social interest in the content development approach is high but it does not make the standardization of interactive 3D content creation performance is very poor. In this paper, real-time video input from an infrared camera that is based on eye tracking implementation user interface developed 3D interactive adventure game "HowSee" was the process of developing skills in the process, an efficient 3D content production methods were presented. unnormalized S3D-based game content production process on how this development occurred in the trial and how to troubleshoot S3D games, etc. to streamline content creation can be a basis for.

  • With the development of smart grid technology, it has become a hotspot to increase benefits of both residential users and electric power companies through demand response technology and interactive technology. In this paper, the game theory is introduced to the interaction between residential users and an electric company, making a mutually beneficial situation for the two. This paper solves the problem of electricity pricing and load shifting in the interactive behavior by building the game-theoretic process, proposing the interaction strategy and doing the optimization. In the simulation results, the residential users decrease their cost by 11% mainly through shifting the thermal loads and the electric company improves its benefits by 5.6% though electricity pricing. Simulation analysis verifies the validity of the proposed method and shows great revenue for the economy of both sides.

  • In this paper, we propose applying interactive technology in virtual environments to enhance interaction and immersion by inducing more natural movements in the gesture recognition process through the concept of affordance. A technique is proposed to recognize gestures most similar to actual hand movements by applying a line segment recognition algorithm, incorporating sampling and normalization processes in the gesture recognition process. This line segment recognition was applied to the drawing of magic circles in the <VR Spell> game implemented in this paper. The experimental method verified the recognition rates for four line segment recognition actions. This paper aims to propose a VR game that pursues greater immersion and fun for the user through real-time hand tracking technology using affordance Elements, applied to immersive content in virtual environments such as VR games.

  • This paper aims to study whether the perspective of the character controlled by a player can affect the player on her moral decision. To this end we designed and developed Castaway, an interactive story using Unity3D game engine. The main story plot of Castaway is based on the trial 'R v Dudley and Stephens (also known as mignonette 1884) which occurred at 1884 in U.K. In Castaway, the player can choose either the accused or the victim, and then play the interactive story with the perspective of the chosen character. To investigate the relationship between the player's empathy to the player character and player's moral decision, we conducted a small-scale (n=10) pilot study. Results of the pilot study have shown that different perspectives can influence the player on her empathy to player character and her moral decision. In near future we plan to conduct a main study with more participants.

  • As the computer becomes a trend, interactive multimedia design can be one media to communicate the cultural knowledge. A folktale can be a powerful material to show a country's culture. In this project, we try to make the folktale content to be understood easily by implementing some cultural information background. The main aim of this project is to give a vision of the richness culture through the interactive multimedia technology. In this paper, we would like to show a flow map content, a streaming of design process and a visual interface design prototype. Finally, interactive multimedia design content is very useful for a transferring the richness culture because people tend to like a multimedia content. In order to make an effective interactive multimedia design content based on a cultural background, a designer should need to understand about users, culture, technology and the whole design process.
