  • This study was conducted to provide basic data about the depression of parents with school-aged children by identifying the actor and partner effects of family interaction and self-esteem on depression among parents with school-aged children. Data on 1,475 pairs from the Wave 7 Panel Study on Korean Children were analyzed by using the SPSS 18.0 program and the AMOS 18.0 program. From the analysis of a hypothetical model, parents' family interaction exerted an actor effect on self-esteem. Mother's family interaction and self-esteem exerted an actor effect on depression; however, the partner effect on father's depression was not statistically significant. Father's family interaction and self-esteem exerted an actor effect on depression; however, the partner effect of father's family interaction on mother's depression was not statistically significant, and only father's self-esteem exerted a partner effect on mother's depression. The study results are as follows. First, the affecting factors of depression in school-aged parents, which are directly related to the depression of the child, were identified and the basic data of nursing intervention for the parents'. It is expected that clinical nurses will be used as data to convey professional knowledge to control parents' depression.

  • Under bivariate normal distribution assumptions, the interaction and quadratic terms are needed in the logistic regression model with two predictors. However, depending on the correlation coefficient and the variances of two conditional distributions, the interaction and quadratic terms may not be necessary. Although the need for these terms can be determined by comparing the two scatter plots, it is not as useful for interaction terms. We explore the structure and usefulness of the 3-D residual plot as a tool for dealing with interaction in logistic regression models. If predictors have an interaction effect, a 3-D residual plot can show the effect. This is illustrated by simulated and real data.

  • It is well known that the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wall affect ship manoeuvring motion. This paper deals with the interaction effect acting on a ship navigating closely in the proximity of bank wail. In this paper, the calculation method based on the slender body theory for estimation of the hydrodynamic interaction forces between ship and bank wail is applied. The hydrodynamic interaction forces acting on a ship during passing through the proximity of the bank wail are predicted to evaluate an influence of these interaction forces on ship manoeuvrability. The calculation method used in this paper will be useful for prediction of ship manoeuvrability at the initial stage of design, for automatic control system of ship in confined waterways, for discussion of marine traffic control system and for construction of harbour.

  • Existing reinforced concrete (RC) beams can be strengthened with externally bolted steel plates to the sides of beams. The effectiveness of this type of bolted side-plate (BSP) beam can however be affected by partial interaction between the steel plates and RC beams due to the mechanical slip of bolts. To avoid over-estimation of the flexural strength and ensure accurate prediction of the load-deformation response of the beams, the effect of partial interaction has to be properly considered. In this paper, a special non-linear macro-finite-element model that takes into account the effects of partial interaction is proposed. The RC beam and the steel plates are modelled as two different elements, interacting through discrete groups of bolts. A layered method is adopted for the formulation of the RC beam and steel plate elements, while a special non-linear model based on a kinematic hardening assumption for the bolts is used to simulate the bolt group effect. The computer program SiBAN was developed based on the proposed approach. Comparison with the available experimental results shows that SiBAN can accurately predict the partial interaction behaviour of the BSP beams. Further numerical simulations show that the interaction between the RC beam and the steel plates is greatly reduced by the formation of plastic hinges and should be considered in analyses of the strengthened beams.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of father's play beliefs on father-child interaction and child's social skills. The subjects were 370 fathers of 1, 2 and 3 graders of elementary schools who lived in Seoul and Gyeonggi area. The results were as follows; First, the differences were found to be significant between the whole of father's play hours, play focus beliefs, study focus beliefs and father-child interaction, and their sub-variables of disciplinary action, sensitiveness, and affectionate expression; and between the whole of child's social skills and its sub-variables of cooperative action, self-assertion and self-control. Second, the higher play focus beliefs, the more positive interaction on the child, and specifically they use much democratic disciplinary action, sensitiveness and affectionate expression. Third, as to the effect of the father's play focus beliefs on the child's social skills, father-child interaction was found to act as a partial parameter, while as to the effect of the father's study focus beliefs on the child's social skills, father-child interaction was found to act as a full parameter.

  • This study investigated the moderating effect of negative emotionality on the association between teacher-child intimacy and peer interaction based on a differential susceptibility model. The participants were 252 three-year-old children recruited from a day care center and preschool located in Incheon and Gyeonggi province. The teacher-child relationship was measured on a Student-Teacher Relationship Scale. This measure is a type of teacher's report with ratings based on a teacher's daily observations. This scale is composed of closeness items on the degree of warmth and open communication in teacher-child relationships. Peer interactions were measured with a Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale. This measure is composed of play interaction items, play disruption items and play disconnection. Negative emotionality was measured with Child Behavior Questionnaire. Teachers measured teacher-child intimacy and peer interaction scales. Parents reported children's negative emotionality. The research showed that negative emotionality moderated the association of teacher-child intimacy, play interaction, play isolation and play disruption. The magnitude of association between teacher-child intimacy and play disconnection as well as play interaction was greater for high levels of negative emotionality. Teacher-child intimacy was significantly associated with play disruption only for high levels of negative emotionality. The findings of this study support a differential susceptibility model.

  • In this paper, an analytical and experimental study was performed in order to determine the effects of interaction between vehicle and structure. Results presented in the paper show that analytical method including moving load effect can investigate the trend of structural response due to dynamic interaction between vehicle and structure. The wheel tracking machine fitted with 2-axle test vehicle can demonstrate more accurate dynamic interaction between vehicle and structure than the wheel tracking machine fitted without 2-axle test vehicle.

  • We explore the structure and usefulness of the 3-D residual plot as a basic tool for dealing with interaction in generalized linear models. If predictors have an interaction effect, the shape obtained by rotating the 3-D residual plot will show its presence. To illustrate the use of this plot as an aid to exploring the interaction, we present an example of a binomial regression model using simulated data.

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the moderating effect of the challenging spirit on the relationship between fun factors and re-participation intentions of participants in traditional play. The subjects of this study were 164 participants in the traditional play Hanmadang contest held in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province in 2021. They measured fun factors, challenging spirit, and re-particitation intention to participate. In order to analyze the collected measurement paper, the analysis was performed using SPSS18.0, PROCESS Macro(V.2.13), Interaction program. The major results were as follows. First, the interaction between promote health and challenge spirit was found to have a significant effect on re-particitation intention at high and medium levels. Second, it was found that the interaction between the foster of social and the challenge spirit did not have a significant effect on the re-particitation intention. Third, the interaction between sense of achievement and the challenge spirit was found to have a significant effect on the re-particitation intention at the high and medium levels.
