The temperature-dependent magnetization curves of amorphous Fe-Co-(Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb)-B alloys were measured using a vibrating sample magnetometer from 77 K up to 900 K. The spin wave stiffness constants and the range of the exchange interaction were calculated from the saturation magnetization values at 0 K. Curie temperatures and the Bloch coefficients estimated from the saturation magnetization curves. The low temperature dependence of magnetization is in good agreement with Bloch relation, $M_{s}(T)=M_{s}(O)(1-BT^{3/2}-CT^{5/2})$. The spin wave stiffness constant and the range of exchange interaction are decreased by substitution of heavy rare earth (Tb, Gd).
This paper focuses on development of a testbed for analysis of robot-terrain interaction on rough terrain and also, through one wheel driving experiments using this testbed, prediction of maximum velocity and acceleration of UGV. Firstly, from the review regarding previous researches for terrain modeling, the main variables for measurement are determined. A testbed is developed to measure main variables related to robot-terrain interaction. Experiments are performed on three kinds of rough terrains (grass, gravel, and sand) and traction-slip curves are obtained using the data of the drawbar pull and slip ratio. Traction-slip curves are used to predict driving performance of UGV on rough terrain. Maximum velocity and acceleration of UGVs are predicted by the simple kinematics and dynamics model of two kinds of 4-wheel mobile robots. And also, driving efficiency of UGVs is predicted to reduce energy consumption while traversing rough terrains.

This paper investigates the influences of Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI) on the seismic behavior of two-dimensional reinforced concrete moment-resisting frames subjected to Far-Field Ground Motion (FFGM) and Near-Field Ground Motion (NFGM). For this purpose, the nonlinear modeling of 7, 10, and 15-story reinforced concrete moment resisting frames were developed in Open Systems for Earthquake Engineering Simulation (OpenSees) software. Effects of SSI were studied by simulating Beam on Nonlinear Winkler Foundation (BNWF) and the soil type as homogenous medium-dense. Generally, the building resistance to seismic loads can be explained in terms of Incremental Dynamic Analysis (IDA); therefore, IDA curves are presented in this study. For comparison, the fragility evaluation is subjected to NFGM and FFGM as proposed by Quantification of Building Seismic Performance Factors (FEMA P-695). The seismic performance of Reinforced Concrete (RC) buildings with fixed and flexible foundations was evaluated to assess the probability of collapse. The results of this paper demonstrate that SSI and NFGM have significantly influenced the probability of failure of the RC frames. In particular, the flexible-base RC buildings experience higher Spectral acceleration (Sa) compared to the fixed-base ones subjected to FFGM and NFGM.
Ground motion records are commonly used for fragility curves (FCs) developing utilized in seismic loss estimating analysis for earthquake prone zones. These records could be 'real', say the recorded acceleration time series or 'simulated' records consistent with the regional seismicity and produced by use of alternative simulation methods. This study has focused on fragility curves developing for masonry buildings through computational 'simulated' ground motion records while evaluating the properness of these fragilities compared to the curves generated by the use of 'real' records. Assessing the dynamic responses of structures, nonlinear computational time history analyses through the equivalent single degree of freedom systems have been implemented on OpenSees platform. Accordingly, computational structural analyses of multi-story 3D frame structures with different stiffening members considering soil interaction have been carried out with finite element software according to (1992) Earthquake East-West component. The obtained results have been compared to each frame regarding soil interaction. Conclusion and recommendations with the discuss of obtaining findings are presented.
It is very important to control the final load that acts on a support system, in tunnel engineering. A reliable analysis is needed to carry out technically reasonable design and safe construction. Also, a series of procedures of construction and the rock-support interaction behavior must be considered. Most existing studies have been performed as the limited analysis based on the simplified assumption. In this study, through the analysis of a circular tunnel using a 2-D finite differential code, the rock-support interaction behaviors in the variation of rock and stress conditions are analyzed and compared with the results from the closed form solutions. Consequently, more realistic rock-support interaction curves are obtained by including the effects of initial stresses and rock condition. These curves are very useful to predict the required support pressure in the initial design stage.
The potential curves of OH bonds of liquid water are inhomogeneous because of a variety of interactions with other molecules and this leads to a wide distribution of vibrational frequency which hampers our understanding of the structure and dynamics of water molecules. Mixed quantum/classical (QM/CM) calculation methods are powerful theoretical techniques to help us analyze experimental data of various vibrational spectroscopies to study such inhomogeneous systems. In a type of those approaches, the interaction energy between OH bonds and other molecules is approximately represented by the interaction between the charges located at the appropriate interaction sites of water molecules. For this purpose, we re-calculated the values of charges by comparing the approximate interaction energies with quantum chemical interaction energies. We determined a set of charges at the TIP4P charge sites which better represents the quantum mechanical potential curve of OH bonds of liquid water.

A computationally efficient algorithm to analyze a group pile behavior is proposed by consideration of both soil-pile and pile-cap interactions. Using toad transfer method the nonlinear characteristics of the soil-pile interaction for a single pile is modeled by piecewise linear soil springs (p-y, t-z, and q-z curves). Beam-column method, one of the most practical approaches, is used for numerical modeling of the soil-pile system. In addition to the group effect resulting from the soil-pile-soil interaction, for a more realistic analysis it is essential to consider the effect of pile-cap interaction including geometric configuration of the piles in a group and conectivity conditions between piles and the cap. This paper mainly focuses on the pile-cap interaction and the development of a rational numerical procedure of its incorporation with the beam-column method.
AQ Cassiopeiae (BD+61`0242, uv=10, Sp=B3+Bg) is a totally eclipsing binary system with the obital period of about 12 days. 71 was observed for 15 nights in 1985 with the1.8-m telescope at the DAO, employing a Reticon and a three-stage image tube attached to the spectrograph. And also, photometric observations of AQ Cas had been made inUBv for six years from 1982 to 1988 at Yonsei University Observatory(YUO). This work includes UBV observations obtained at YUO as a part of The Ten-Year Observing Program(1982-1992). Double lined radial, velocity curves and Ufv light curves of AQC as are constructed. The light curves and radial velocity curves show a strong evidence of circumstellar matter or mass stream. It is clear at the phases of just outside externaleclipse contacts, particularly at phase 0.8-0.9, shown in Figures 1 and 2. A solution by combining the radial velocity and photometric curves of the binary was obtained with the Wilson-Devinney Code. We found that the system is semi-detached with the coolcomponent filling its Roche lobe. The absolute dimensions of AQ Cas are calculated. The result shows that this system consists of two massive and subgiant stars.
Various approaches have been developed for the dynamic response analysis of piles. In one of the approaches, the soil-pile interaction is approximated by using parallel nonlinear springs, namely the p-y curves. Currently available p-y curve recommendations are based on static and cyclic lateral load tests. Other researchers have attempted to extend the p-y curves by incorporating the effects of liquefaction on soil-pile interaction and derived scaling factors of p-y curves to account fur the liquefaction. However, opinions on the scaling factors vary. In this study, the sealing factors, which reflect the variation of the elastic moduli of surrounding soils, were established combining the relationship between excess pore pressures and the natural frequencies of a soil-pile system obtained from Ig shaking table tests and the relationship between the elastic moduli of surrounding soils and the natural frequencies of a soil-pile system obtained from numerical analyses. As a result, the scaling factors were presented in an exponential function.
Using a simple analytic model based on the MHD stability arguments we obtain the size of the magnetosphere for the magnetic compact stars. We assume the ordered, field-aligned flow in the magnetosphere and estimate the wellknown Alfven radius. The dependence of the X-ray absorption in the magnetic funnel on the size of this radius is further considered. We show that such a determination of the magnetic interaction radius can be applied to the reconstruction of X-ray light curves of the magnetic binary stars.
