Determination of Strongly Interacting Spin Exchange Path and Spin Lattice Model of (VO)2(H2O){O3P-(CH2)3-PO3}ㆍ2H2O on the Basis of Spin Dimer Analysis

  • The spin exchange interactions of $(VO)_2(H_2O){O_3P-(CH_2)_3-PO_3}{\cdot}2H_2O$ were examined by spin dimer analysis based on extended Huckel tight binding method. The strongest spin exchange interaction occurs through the super-superexchange path $J_2$ and the second strongest spin exchange interaction occurs through the superexchange interaction path $J_1$. There are two strongly interacting spin exchange paths in $(VO)_2(H_2O){O_3P-(CH_2)_3-PO_3}{\cdot}2H_2O$. Therefore, magnetic susceptibility curve of $(VO)_2(H_2O){O_3P-(CH_2)_3-PO_3}{\cdot}2H_2O$ can be well reproduced by an alternating onedimensional antiferromagnetic chain model rather than an isolated spin dimer model.

A model for investigating vehicle-bridge interaction under high moving speed

  • The speed of rail vehicles become higher and higher over two decades, and China has unveiled a prototype high-speed train in October 2020 that has been able to reach 400 km/h. At such high speeds, wheel-rail force items that had previously been ignored in common computational model should be reevaluated and reconsidered. Aiming at this problem, a new model for investigating the vehicle-bridge interaction at high moving speed is proposed. Comparing with the common model, the new model was more accurate and applicable, because it additionally considers the second-order pseudo-inertia forces effect and its modeling equilibrium position was based on the initial deformed curve of bridge, which could include the influences of temperature, pre-camber, shrinkage and creep deformation, and pier uneven settlement, etc. Taking 5 km/h as the speed interval, the dynamic responses of the classical vehicle-bridge system in the speed range of 5 km/h to 400 km/h are studied. The results show that ignoring the second-order pseudo-inertia force will underestimate the dynamic response of vehicle-bridge system and make the high-speed railway bridge structure design unsafe.

  • The lateral deformation of one row pile groups was investigated based on analytical study and a numerical analysis. The emphasis was on quantifing the load transfer of pile groups subjected to lateral soil movement. An analytical method to consider pile-soil interaction in weathered soil was developed using load-transfer curve methods. Through the comparative study, it is found that the prediction by present approach is in good agreement with the general trend observed by in-situ measurements.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of nifedipine (10 mg/kg) on the pharmacokinetic parameters and the bioavailability of paclitaxel (50 mg/kg) orally coadministered and pretreated in rats. The plasma concentration of paclitaxel in combination with nifedipine was significantly (p<0.05 at 10 mg/kg coadmin., p<0.01 at pretreat.) increased compared to that of control, from 2 hr to 24 hr. Area under the plasma concentration-time curve (AUC) of paclitaxel with nifedipine was significantly (p<0.05 at 10 mg/kg coadmin., p<0.01 at pretreat.) higher than that of control (omitted)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of quercetin(2.0, 10, 20 mg/kg; combined or pretreated) on the pharmacokinetic parameters and the bioavailability of diltiazem(15mg/kg) orally to rabbits. The plasma concentration of diltiazem pretreated with quercetin(pretreated group) were increased significantly (p<0.01) compared to that of control, but those of diltiazem combined with quercetin(combined group) were not affected.   • The europium doped yttrium oxybromide phosphors were synthesized by solid-state reaction method. The YOBr: $Eu^{3+}$ phosphor showed a strong and narrow red emission band at 621 nm and maximum emission intensity obtained when 0.05 mol Eu ions were doped. The red emission of $Eu^{3+}$ originated from $^5D_0$ ${\rightarrow}$ $^7F_2$electric dipole transition. In order to investigate on photoluminescence behavior, several experimental skills and numerical fittings are conducted to the YOBr: $Eu^{3+}$ phosphor. The emission spectrum was measured in the UV range and then decay curve of $^5D_0$ ${\rightarrow}$ $^7F_j$transitions was examined. The energy interaction type of YOBr: $Eu^{3+}$ phosphor was dipole-dipole interaction. In addition to the calculating by critical concentration, the critical distance ($R_0$) was calculated by decay curve fitting parameter from Inokuti-Hirayamas equation, and spectral overlap method. The critical distance was 17.03, 10.51 and 7.18$\AA$ for those methods, respectively. As considering systematic error of measurements, these values are within the same order, so that the above fitting methods are plausible and recommendable.

  • A analytical model is developed which can simulate a complete inelastic biaxial moment-curvature relations of a reinforced concrete column. The model can simulate sudden drop in moment capacity after peak moment and due to spalling of cover concrete. Parametric studies are performed examine the effects of constituent material properties as well as topological arrangement of reinforcements on moment-curvature relations and P-M interaction curve. It has been analytically observed that ductility of a reinforced concrete column is influenced mostly by magnitude of the axial load and spacings or the volume of lateral reinforcements. Compared to ACI P-M interaction curve, overall increase about 10% in square root of sum of squares of axial force and moment, and about 20% in peak load are observed for the columns reinforced according to ACI seismic design code.

  • In this study, a new design equation was presented for square CFTs with high-strength concrete subjected to axial compression and bending. In a previous study, a design equation for square CFTs with normal strength concrete was proposed. A parametric study by fiber analysis was performed taking the width-to-thickness ratio (b/t) and the relative concrete strength to the yield strength of the steel tube (fck/Fy) as the main parameters of this study to determine the maximum moment and the axial load at the maximum moment. A new constitutive model for concrete was adopted for fiber analysis in order to take into account the effect of high-strength concrete. The results of the parametric study were embedded into the method which was presented in the previous study to formulate a new design equation that can be easily used for estimating the strength of square CFTs with high-strength concrete.

On the direct strength and effective yield strength method design of medium and high strength steel welded square section columns with slender plate elements

  • The ultimate carrying capacity of axially loaded welded square box section members made of medium and high strength steels (nominal yield stresses varying from 345 MPa to 460 MPa), with large width-to-thickness ratios ranging from 35 to 70, is analyzed by finite element method (FEM). At the same time, the numerical results are compared with the predicted results using Direct Strength Method (DSM), modified DSM and Effective Yield Strength Method (EYSM). It shows that curve a, rather than curve b recommended in Code for design of steel structures GB50017-2003, should be used to check the local-overall interaction buckling strength of welded square section columns fabricated from medium and high strength steels when using DSM, modified DSM and EYSM. Despite all this, EYSM is conservative. Compared to EYSM and modified DSM, DSM provides a better prediction of the ultimate capacities of welded square box compression members with large width-thickness ratios over a wide range of width-thickness ratios, slenderness ratios and steel grades. However, for high strength steels (nominal yield strength greater than 460 MPa), the numerical and existent experimental results indicate that DSM overestimates the load-carrying capacities of the columns with width-thickness ratio smaller than 45 and slenderness ratio less than 80. Further, for the purpose of making it suitable for a wider scope, DSM has been modified (called proposed modified DSM). The proposed modified DSM is in excellent agreement with the numerical and existing experimental results.

  • In this study, a program based on the P-M interaction curve is developed to calculate the nominal strength of concrete pole. Using this, it is verified to compare with previous studies and the nominal strength$(M_n)$ of concrete pole is calculated. It is less than the rupture strength$(M_r)$ of the design standard. Thus, to increase nominal strength, several parameters are selected like as size of tension and reinforced bars, position of those, number of reinforcement bars, thickness of concrete pole, and diameter of it. The effects of those are analysed in the study. It is supposed that section of concrete pole are satisfied rupture strength.
