가상현실 대화용 가상걸음 장치의 지능제어 (Intelligent Control of a Virtual Walking Machine for Virtual Reality Interface)

  • This paper proposes intelligent control of a virtual walking machine that can generate infinite floor for various surfaces and can provide proprioceptive feedback of walking to a user. This machine allows users to participate in a life-like walking experience in virtual environments with various terrains. The controller of the machine is implemented hierarchically, at low-level for robust actuator control, at mid-level fur platform control to compensate the external forces by foot contact, and at high-level control for generating walking trajectory. The high level controller is suggested to generate continuous walking on an infinite floor for various terrains. For the high level control, each independent platform follows a man foot during the swing phase, while the other platform moves back during single stance phase. During double limb support, two platforms manipulate neutral positions to compensate the offset errors generated by velocity changes. This control can, therefore, satisfy natural walking conditions in any direction. Transition phase between the swing and the stance phases is detected by using simple switch sensor system, while human foot motions are sensed by careful calibration with a magnetic motion tracker attached to the shoe. Experimental results of walking simulations at level ground, slope, and stairs, show that with the proposed machine, a general person can walk naturally on various terrains with safety and without any considerable disturbances. This interface can be applied to various areas such as VR navigations, rehabilitation, and gait analysis.

유비쿼터스 환경에서의 주거 건축설계 방향설정 연구 (A Design Direction for Residential Space under Ubiquitous Environment)

  • Ubiquitous space can be described as a combined space of physical space and digital space. Ubiquitous space possesses new possibilities by combining the two. The concept of ubiquitous home will bring new changes in residential space design. First of all, it makes possible for more convenient and secure home. It has to be developed along with city and town level changes as ubiquitous environment. Secondly, concept of extended space as an extension of living space becomes possible by linking with outside spaces. Thirdly, as consumer requirements for residential spaces will become more versatile by social changes, ubiquitous home can be a good means to meet these versatile consumer requirements by accommodating concept of multi-functional space and flexible space. It is quite important to predict user requirements in rapidly changing social environment and versatile personal inclinations. Instead of POE methodology which can analyze and evaluate in exiting types of designs, storytelling methodology can be used to predict and direct for future requirements of living. The methodology makes scenarios of space usage for future living and extracts design requirements for the living. The concept of intelligent space has to be introduced. It is different from digital home that only accomodate digital devices in space. In intelligent space, space itself has to be recognized as an identity that interacts human directly. Intelligent space recognize human requirements and control digital devices as a response. Multi-functional space is closely related with intelligent space that can changes for business, entertainments as well as for rests by user requirements instantly. Flexible space that also intends to meet requirements of mobility and versatility can be attained through the integration of digital technology into current physical mobile systems. Interaction design becomes integral part for ubiquitous space design along with physical design. For the residential space design, digital illiteracy has to be considered for interaction design. Instead of the concept of passive existence, space itself has to be recognized as active subsistence that reacts with human. Intuitive and natural interaction for human will be a key design element for space-human interface design.

  • The greenhouse control system is designed by personal computer. This system should observe and control the growth conditions for crops in both plastic film and glass greenhouses. In this contribution puts emphasis on graphical user interface for greenhouse control system by personal computer under the aim of creating safer, more effective and more economical services. This system is developed for the requirements of the intelligent greenhouse control system and gives a lot of convenience for farmer who is not familiar with pc technique. The GUI and control system are programmed by Visual C++ and Visual Basic.

  • The development of computer-integrated design systems that fully support structural design process needs the computerization of structural design at the preliminary design stage. The objective of this paper is to develop a prototype system for preliminary design of reinforced concrete structures. This study focuses on the development of a natural design process oriented GUI(Graphic User Interface) and a representation of an experienced knowledge. The prototype system has been currently implemented using the objected-oriented programming concepts, the program language(i.e.,Visual C++) and the expert shell(i.e., Intelligent Rules Element).

Greeting, Function, and Music: How Users Chat with Voice Assistants

  • Voice user interface has become a commercially viable and extensive interaction mechanism with the development of voice assistants. Despite the popularity of voice assistants, the academic community does not utterly understand about what, when, and how users chat with them. Chatting with a voice assistant is crucial as it defines how a user will seek the help of the assistant in the future. This study aims to cover the essence and construct of conversational AI, to develop a classification method to deal with user utterances, and, most importantly, to understand about what, when, and how Chinese users chat with voice assistants. We collected user utterances from the real conventional database of a commercial voice assistant, NetEase Sing in China. We also identified different utterance categories on the basis of previous studies and real usage conditions and annotated the utterances with 17 labels. Furthermore, we found that the three top reasons for the usage of voice assistants in China are the following: (1) greeting, (2) function, and (3) music. Chinese users like to interact with voice assistants at night from 7 PM to 10 PM, and they are polite toward the assistants. The whole percentage of negative feedback utterances is less than 6%, which is considerably low. These findings appear to be useful in voice interaction designs for intelligent hardware.

아이폰 기반의 이동로봇 시뮬레이터 개발 (Development of a Simulator for a Mobile Robot Based on iPhone)

  • 본 논문은 애드혹 통신을 기반으로 아이폰의 가속도 센서를 사용하여 이동로봇을 무선 제어하는 연구에 대하여 다룬다. 이동로봇을 아이폰으로 무선제어하기 위한 방법으로 사용자 원격제어와 자율제어 방법이 제안되었다. 궤적 추종제어 알고리즘의 효율성을 평가하기 위하여 아이폰의 인터페이스를 기반으로 모니터에 그려진 궤적을 가상로봇이 추종하는 시뮬레이터를 개발하였다. 제안된 시뮬레이터에서는 궤적 추종제어를 위해 이동로봇을 제어할 때 컴퓨터에서 해당 알고리즘을 이용하여 미리 시뮬레이션이 가능하며 사용자에 의한 원격제어와의 결과 비교도 보여준다. 연구의 결과로 제안된 시뮬레이터가 이동로봇에 자율이동제어 방법을 사용할 때, 자율추종 알고리즘의 적합성과 효율성을 미리 검사 하는데 사용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

  • u-City란 언제어디서나 수요자 중심의 정보서비스가 가능한 도시를 말한다. 현재 대한민국 전자정부 대표포털은 현재 우리나라 대표 행정포털로써, 게이트웨이 역할을 수행하고는 있으나, 몇 가지 문제점을 갖는다. 즉. 수요자 중심으로(수요자 분류체계에 의해) 단순한 인터페이스를 제공해야 하는데, 현재 시스템이 너무 복잡하여 수요자 중심의 정보검색기능을 제공하고 있지 않다는 점이다. 따라서 이 논문에서는 바람직한 u-City를 위한 정부 대표 행정포털로서의 기능을 제안하고자 한다.

  • 유비쿼터스 기술이 발달하면서 모바일 기기를 통해 다양한 콘텐츠를 사용자에게 적합한 정보만을 제공하기 위한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 그러나 모바일 기기의 작은 사용자 인터페이스로 인해 정보제공에 한계가 있다. 본 논문에서는 이런 문제점을 해결하고 모바일 환경에 적합한 지능형 에이전트 모델과, 각 개인 사용자들이 관심 있는 일자리 정보를 능동적으로 제공할 수 있는 시스템을 제안한다. 사용자 행동패턴을 감시하는 Personalization Engine과, 모바일 기기에 정보제공을 위한 Learning Algorithm으로 구성되었다. 조사를 통해 성별, 나이, 학력에 따라 선호하는 직업 항목이 다른 것을 알았으며, 지역은 직업을 검색 할 때 많은 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다.

  • 최근 관광산업은 높은 성장잠재력을 지닌 미래 유망산업중의 하나로써, 전 세계 많은 나라들은 다양한 관광자원을 개발하여 외국인 관광객을 유치하는데 노력하고 있다. GPS (Global Positioning System)와 RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)와 같은 다양한 기술들을 이용하여 관광산업에 적용하고 있으나, 대부분의 제공되는 분야가 개별 관광객을 위한 현장에서의 콘텐츠 제공 기술로 매우 한정적이었다. 이에 본 논문에서 단체 관광객을 위한 GPS와 ZigBee 기술을 이용한 Intelligent Tour Guide System (ITGS)을 설계, 구현하였다. 이 지능형 관광 가이드 시스템은 단체 관광객들을 위한 시스템으로, 제한된 스케쥴을 최대한 활용하여 관광을 즐길 수 있도록 다양한 기능을 제공한다.

  • As intelligence of robot is developed, consumer of robot changes by ordinary people. Intelligent service robot is produced to a target of ordinary people. It is risen that need the most service robot business. Among the control mobile robot because using network by real time. Do to appear on mobile phone LCD screen being transmitted image from device that acquire transmit of mobile phone user interface development and real time mobile robot in this study. Use the BREW that is Qualcomm's Mobile platform for mobile phone user interface development. Mobile phone JPEG compression function chooses excellent camera phone and display transmit image which send connection setting screen and mobile robot on LCD screen by real time. At the same time, materialize to make screen that can process button input that can control transfer of robot. Also, Relay Server used to help processing of protocol to control direction of mobile robot.
