  • The objective of this paper is to provide an alternative framework for the integration of process planning and scheduling in cellular manufacturing. The concept of an integrated cellular manufacturing system is defined and the system architecture is presented. In an integrated cellular manufacturing system, there are three modules : the process planning module, the manufacturing-cell design module, and the cell-scheduling module. For each module, the tasks and their activities are explained.

Delaunay 삼각화를 이용한 적응적 Element-free Galerkin 해석 (Adaptive Element-free Galerkin Procedures by Delaunay Triangulation)

  • 본 연구에서는 무요소법의 일종인 element-free Galerkin 방법(EFGM)을 이용한 새로운 적응적 해석법을 제안하였다. 이 방법의 핵심은 Delaunay 삼각화에 기초를 둔 적분 격자를 기초로 수치적분과 적응적인 절점의 추가 및 소거를 수행하는 것이다. 이러한 적응적 해석법은 적분격자의 분할이나 이를 위한 추가적인 정보에 대한 관리가 필요 없이 간편하게 적응적 해석을 수행할 수 있다. 또한 균열의 진전과 같은 다단계 적응적 해석에 있어서도 매 해석단계별로 평가된 오차에 기초를 둔 최적 해석모델이 Delaunay 삼각화에 의해 구성되도록 하였다. 이러한 특성은 요소의 구성으로부터 자유로운 무요소법의 장점을 최대한 활용하여 해석모델의 구축을 보다 원활하게 수행할 수 있다. 적응적 해석에 기초가 되는 해석 후 오차평가는 계산된 응력과 투영응력과의 차이를 오차로 추정하는 투영응력법을 이용하였다. 균열진전을 포함하는 2차원예제의 해석을 수행한 결과 제안된 해석법의 타당성과 적용성을 입증할 수 있었다.

T-스플라인 유한요소해석을 이용한 트림 곡면 해석 (Trimmed surface analysis based on T-spline FEM)

  • In this present work, trimmed surface analysis for the 2D elasticity problem is presented. The main benefit of the proposed method is that no additional modeling for analysis of a trimmed surface is necessary. As the first attempt to deal with a trimmed surface in spline FEM, the information of the trimming curve and trimmed surface exported from CAD system is directly utilized for analysis. For this, trimmed elements are searched through employing projection scheme. For the integration of the trimmed elements, NURBSenhanced integration scheme which is used in NEFEM is adopted. The quadtree refinement of integration cell is performed for the complicated trimmed cases. The information of trimming curve is used for obtaining integration points as well as constructing stiffness matrix. The robustness and effectiveness of the proposed method are investigated by presenting various numerical examples.

무요소법에서 절점 적분의 효과적 개선방안 (Improvement Scheme of Nodal Integration in Meshless Method)

  • Meshfree methods have been attracting issue as computational methods during past a few years. Nowadays, various meshfree methods such as EFGM, RKPM h-p cloud method and etc. were developed and applied in engineering problems. But, most of them were not truly meshless method because background mesh of cell was required for the spatial integration of a weak form. A nodal integration is required for truly meshless methods but it is known that this method gives a little unstable and incorrect solutions. In this paper, an improvement scheme of the existed nodal integration which the weak form can be simply integrated without any stabilization term is proposed. Numerical tests show that the proposed method is more convenient and gives more correct solutions than the previous method.

Models and Modeling Behavior: A Look at the Critical Thinking Skills of Biology Majors

  • This paper describes the types of models that biology majors use and how they go about making their models in learning key concepts in biology such as the cell membrane, cytoskeleton and cell structure. Initially, a total of 44 biology students from all year levels enrolled in the second semester of calendar year 2008-2009 were asked to make their respective models of the cell membrane, cytoskeleton and cell structure. They were also asked to answer an open-ended questionnaire. Of the 44, only 20 (five from each year level) were randomly selected for a one-on-one interview. Results showed that the student-generated models from all year levels were mostly analogies, some textbook definitions and occasional drawings. In making their model, students first read the text; second, outline similarities in structure and function or both; and third, make the model. Data suggest that models are good diagnostic tools for identifying critical thinking skills of students. In this case, students mostly demonstrate the ability to recognize similarities in structure and function between the concept and their model. Some senior students demonstrated integration and reflective thinking in making their models. Thus, more opportunities for student-generated models must be available if students were to develop integration and reflective thinking in their models.

  • There are many difficult problems in analyzing the flow characteristics in a high voltage circuit breaker such as shock wave and complex geometries, which may be either static or in relative motion. Although a variety of mesh generation techniques are now available, the generation of meshes around complicated, multicomponent geometries like a gas circuit breaker is still a tedious and difficult task for the computational fluid dynamics. This paper presents the computational method for analyzing the compressible flow fields in a high voltage gas circuit breaker using the Cartesian cut-cell method based on the CFD-CAD integration, which can achieve the accurate representation of the geometry designed by a CAD tools. The technique is frequently satisfied, and it will be almost universally so in the future, as the CFD-CAD traffic increases.

A SDR/DDR 4Gb DRAM with $0.11\mu\textrm{m}$ DRAM Technology

  • A 1.8V $650{\;}\textrm{mm}^2$ 4Gb DRAM having $0.10{\;}\mu\textrm{m}^2$ cell size has been successfully developed using 0.11 $\mu\textrm{m}$DRAM technology. Considering manufactur-ability, we have focused on developing patterning technology using KrF lithography that makes $0.11{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ DRAM technology possible. Furthermore, we developed novel DRAM technologies, which will have strong influence on the future DRAM integration. These are novel oxide gap-filling, W-bit line with stud contact for borderless metal contact, line-type storage node self-aligned contact (SAC), mechanically stable metal-insulator-silicon (MIS) capacitor and CVD Al process for metal inter-connections. In addition, 80 nm array transistor and sub-80 nm memory cell contact are also developed for high functional yield as well as chip performance. Many issues which large sized chip often faces are solved by novel design approaches such as skew minimizing technique, gain control pre-sensing scheme and bit line calibration scheme.

  • Direct Methanol Fuel Cell, DMFC is a potential power source for portable IT application. DMFC works at low temperature ($<100^{\circ}C$) without fuel processing. Methanol has high energy density, fuel economy, and easiness to handle. This paper focuses high efficient catalyst to increase utilization in the electrode, new membrane reducing methanol crossover, new material parts, and optimization of system integration. Lightweight and small-sized DMFC based on new materials, efficient stack, and improved system control will be applied to the 50W prototype system for the notebook computer.
