The purpose of the study was to develop an integrated prevention program to strengthen elders self-care capability and to examine its effectiveness on their psychological condition. This study used one group pre- and post-test design. Subjects were 85 elderly residents (over 65 years of age) who lived alone, and received free basic medical care and social welfare services in a rural community in Korea. Subject eligibility criteria for this study were to an elders who 1) is not currently taking any anti-depressant medication 2) is able to communicate, and 3) agrees to participate in this study. The integrated program was composed of horticulture, reminiscence, and friendship activities. Twelve sessions were provided for 12 weeks in community-based partnerships to achieve better outcomes. The intervention was case-managed by a public health nurse and aided by six volunteers. The main outcome variable was depression, which was assessed by using 15 items selected from the Geriatric Depression Scale-short form Korean version. Socio-demographic characteristics, functional status, and satisfaction with social support were used as covariates. Results showed that there was a significant intervention effect at post-intervention time point compared to pre-intervention time point(E.S. 0.94). Multiple linear regression analysis showed significant interaction effects between intervention and satisfaction with social support. These findings must be interpreted within the context that an effects of an integrated program could be more synergistically increased when social support factor is considered in the program. A community-based integrated prevention program of depression is effective for vulnerable rural elderly. It is suggested that randomized controlled trials within community setting for better methodological strength as well as multi-level outcomes on community need to be conducted in future.

Purpose: This study examined the effect of an integrated kinetic program on the body composition of middle-aged and their associated blood lipid components. Methods: The subjects included 50 middle-aged women who resided at J city. Upon their agreements, the subjects were divided into either an experimental group or the control group. There were 25 subjects in each. The integrated kinetic program was conducted during the 6 weeks, and the experimental group was underwent its associated program 5 times a week. There were 3 subjects from each group that were excluded. The extensions were measured with the extensometer, the weights were taken with the body ingredient analysis instrument, and the blood lipid consistency with the blood autoanalyzer. Results: Pre- and Post- the integrated kinetic program, there were statistically significant differences between the body fat mass and the BMI in the experimental group. However, this difference was not significantly different in the control group. Further, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups of all items in blood lipid components. But the experimental group showed the decrement from TC and TG items after accomplishing the program. Conclusion: The results of this study showed that this kinetic program helps the prevention and functional control of bodily functional decrement to middle-aged women. It is considered that follow-up studies on practically integrated kinetic programs are needed so that they include exercise accomplishments of proper period and good quality nutrition intake. This is in order to maintain muscular quantity and prevent muscle function decrement for the healthy middle-aged women, preparing in aging and menopause.

We compared the gene expression among four clinical and five environmental V. vulnificus isolates, using a cDNA microarray containing 131 genes possibly associated with pathogenicity, transport, signal transduction, and gene regulations in the pathogen. cDNAs from total RNAs of these isolates were hybridized into the cDNA microarray using the cDNA of the wild-type strain MO6-24/O as a reference. We focused on selecting differentially expressed (DE) genes between clinical and environmental isolates using a modified t-statistic. We could detect two statistically significant DE genes between virulent isolates and less-virulent isolates with a marginal statistical significance (p-value of 0.008). These were genes putatively encoding pilin and adenlyate cylase. Real time-PCR confirmed that these two selected genes transcribed in significantly higher levels in virulent isolates than in less-virulent isolates. Mutants with lesions in the gene encoding pilin showed significantly higher $LD_{50}$ values than that of wild type.

이 연구는 사회적 요구에 의해 강조되고 있는 집단지성, 가치관, 소프트웨어를 적용하여 예비교사들이 통합과학교육 프로그램을 개발하는 과정에서 예비교사에게 미치는 영향을 알아보았다. 이러한 결과로 첫째, 집단지성을 활용한 통합과학교육 프로그램 개발은 예비교사의 학습동기를 향상시켰다. 특히 수행과정에서 학습동기가 향상되는 것이 나타났다. 둘째, 집단지성 기반 통합과학교육 프로그램 개발은 예비교사들의 집단지성 역량을 함양하였다. 프로그램을 개발, 시연, 피드백하는 전 과정에서 집단의 긍정적 영향이 발현되었다. 셋째, 과학 교과에 소프트웨어와 개인의 가치관은 접목할 필요가 있으나 이를 위해 전문적 지원이 필요한 것으로 나타났다.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of the integrated cognitive rehabilitation program in elderly patients with mild dementia. Methods: A total of 20 elderly patients with mild dementia participated in the integrated cognitive rehabilitation program. The program was conducted three times per week for a total of 4 periods (10 wks per period) from February 6, 2018 to December 13, 2018. Each session lasted for 1 hour, and the cognitive function and depression of the subjects were measured before and after they participated in the program. Results: After the program, there was a significant increase and decreases in participants' cognitive function and depression respectively. There was a statistically significant difference in cognitive function score over time and period, except for the 2nd period. The difference in the degree of depression over time and period was statistically significant. Conclusion: The results suggest that an integrated cognitive rehabilitation program could help improve cognitive function and the degree of depression in elderly patients with mild dementia.

Here we report a highly sensitive and stable detection of $NAD^+$ and NADH by the electrode on which diaphorase (DI) is covalently immobilized in viologen polymer network. The network is prepared by the covalent formation of the structure by mixing propylamine viologen (PAV), poly(ethylene glycol)(400) diglycidyl ether (PEGDGE), an diaphorase (DI). The PAV/PEGDGE/DI modified electrode has the sensitivity of $0.02nA{\cdot}{\mu}M$ and the detection limit of $3{\mu}M$ with a response time of 2 s ($t_{90%}$) for NADH sensing.
