The Effect of Integrated Recreation Program on Mood State, Flexibility and Stress of Elderly Women (통합 레크리에이션 프로그램이 여성 노인의 기분상태, 유연성 및 스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the effects of an integrated recreation program on mood states, flexibility, and stress of elderly women. The integrated recreation program was applied to dance as a physical activity and songs and art as emotional activities in consideration of the characteristics of the elderly activities. The subjects were 50 elderly women aged 65 years or older who reside in K-do. The examination period was December 2 in 2014 to February 17 in 2015, during which time mood states, flexibilities, density of the salivary cortisol, variations in heartbeats, and stress were measured. The integrated recreation program had positive effects on mood, flexibility and stress reduction in elderly women. Based on these results, the integrated recreation program is considered to increase mood states and flexibility of elderly women while lowering stress. Therefore, the integrated recreation program developed in this study not only helps the physical and mental health of elderly women, but can also be widely utilized as a health promotion program for the elderly.

The Effect of an Integrated Health-Promotion Program in Middle-Aged Women (중년여성의 통합적 건강증진 프로그램 적용의 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the effect of an integrated health promotion program in middle-aged women. Method: The research design was a quasi experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design. Data was collected from July 1st to August 31st, 2003. One group consisted of 30 subjects. The instruments used for the study were the Self Efficacy Scale and the Health Promotion Behavior Scale developed by Park(1995), Subjective health status developed Speake(1989) and menopause-related symptoms developed by Park(1995). The data was analyzed using the SPSS WIN 10.0 program. In order to compare the effects of the pre-post synthesized health promotion program, the ed t-test was employed. Result: There was not a significant increase in subjective health status after the integrated health promotion program, nor was there a significant decrease in menopause-related symptoms after the synthesized health promotion program. There was a significant increase in self efficacy after the integrated health promotion program(p=.029), and there was also a significant increase in health promotion behavior after the integrated health promotion program(p=.006). Conclusions: Through an 8 week education program for health promotion, self efficacy and health promotion behavior were effectively changed in middle-aged women.

The Effects of an Integrated Management Program on Climacteric Symptoms and Depression in Middle-aged Women (통합 관리프로그램이 중년기 여성의 갱년기 증상과 우울에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of an integrated management program on climacteric symptoms and depression in middle-aged women. Methods: A nonequivalent control-group design was used. The subjects consisted of 65 middle-aged women with climacteric symptoms. The experimental group (n=33) participated in the program for six 60-min sessions. To measure the climacteric symptoms and depression level of the subjects, two self-reporting questionnaires were used. Data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics 17.0 program. Results: The women in the experimental group reported the average score of 13.80 in climacteric symptoms, 14.38 in depression. The hypothesis that the climacteric symptoms of experimental group would be reduced more than that of the control group was supported (t=3.92, p<.001): physical symptoms (t=4.04, p<.001); psychological symptoms (t=1.80, p=.077); sexual symptoms (t=2.85, p=.006). The second hypothesis that the degree of depression of the experimental group who used the integrated climacteric symptoms management program would be reduced more than that of the control group was also supported (t=2.30, p=.02). Conclusion: The integrated management program for middle-aged women with climacteric symptoms was effective in reducing their climacteric symptoms and depression level.

Effects of an Integrated Activity Program on the Self-Efficacy and Depression of Underprivileged Elderly Women Living Alone (통합활동프로그램이 취약계층 여성독거노인의 자기효능감과 우울에 미치는 효과)

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of an integrated activity program on the self-efficacy and depression of underprivileged elderly women living alone. Methods: The participants recruited were fifty underprivileged elderly women living alone in D city. Data were collected from September 1 to October 1, 2015. To test the effects of the integrated activity program, the participants were divided into two matched groups, an experimental group (N=25) and control group (N=25). The data were analyzed with a ${\chi}^2-test$, Fisher's exact probability test, and t-test using the SPSS/WIN 12.0 program. Results: After attending the integrated activity program, significant differences between the experimental group and control group were found for self-efficacy (t=9.19, p<.001) and depression (t=-18.31, p<.001). Conclusion: The results indicate that the integrated activity program enhances self-efficacy and reduces depression in underprivileged elderly women living alone. Therefore, this program is a good strategy that community mental health nurses can use to improve the mental health of underprivileged elderly women living alone.

Development and Evaluation of Integrated Management Program for Hemodialysis Patients (혈액투석 환자를 위한 통합적 관리 프로그램의 개발 및 효과)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to develop and evaluate an integrated management program to enhance self-efficacy, compliance with sick-role behaviors, symptom management, and biomarker indication in hemodialysis patients. Methods: The integrated management program was developed through a systematic review of literature, analysis of relevant online data, and expert validation. It comprised 480 min of video-based education delivered eight times over four weeks, supplemented by weekly phone consultations and text message support from a nurse. To evaluate the program's effectiveness, it was administered to 44 patients with hemodialysis in a single group in a pre-post test experimental study. Changes in self-efficacy, sick-role behavior compliance, dialysis symptom index, and biomarkers were assessed. Results: The program yielded statistically significant improvements in self-efficacy (t=-7.13, p<.001), sick-role behavioral compliance (t=-7.35, p<.001), dialysis symptom index (t=4.32, p<.001), and blood urea nitrogen levels (t=2.55, p=.014) among the participants. Conclusion: The integrated management program is an effective intervention for improving hemodialysis patients' self-efficacy, compliance with sick-role behaviors, and experience of symptoms. Additionally, it is considered an intervention with high clinical applicability and efficiency through video reproducibility.

The Effect of an Integrated Multiculturalism Education Program on Children's Multiculturalism Acceptance (통합적 다문화교육 프로그램이 유아의 다문화 수용성에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was intended to investigate wether a multiculturalism education program which is integrated with age the 5 Nuri curriculum has a significant influence on promoting children's multiculturalism acceptance. The effect of the integrated multiculturalism program was studied depending on married female immigrant assistant teacher and multicultural children within a group. Three experimental groups and one comparative group were formed from 80 children whose kindergarten centers are located in southern cities of Gyeong-gi province and the convenient sampling method was used. A measurement tool for multiculturalism acceptance was used in this study, and this measurement is an amended and supplemented version of criteria aimed at children (elementary school students) developed by Kim and Chung(2010). The measurement tool was modified to make it suitable for children and consists of 33 questionnaires. All the data collected for this study was analyzed by the SPSS 20 program, the average, standard deviation, frequency, percentage. Cronbach's alpha coefficient was calculated and one-way ANOVA and ANCOVA were implemented. As for the result of the study regarding perception and relationship-building capability, the group which conducted an integrated multiculturalism education program and consisted of including a female married-immigrant assistant teacher and multicultural children (Experimental group1) showed a higher figure compared to the groups which conducted an integrated multiculturalism education program under the instruction of a female married-immigrant assistant teacher (Experimental group2), the group which conducted only the integrated multiculturalism education program (Experimental group3), and the last group which conducted only the age 5 Nuri curriculum (comparative group). As for sympathy and openness toward multiculturalism, the group which conducted integrated multiculturalism education program under the instruction of a female married-immigrant assistant teacher (Experimental group2) showed a higher figure compared to the groups which conducted an integrated multiculturalism education program including a female married-immigrant assistant teacher and multicultural children (Experimental group1), the group which conducted only an integrated multiculturalism education program (Experimental group3), and the last group which conducted only the age 5 Nuri curriculum (comparative group). As a result, the study showed that the instructor's multicultural guidance capability played a major role in the children's multiculturalism education program.
