STEP 을 이용한 통합제품정보모델(IPIM) 개발 (Development of Integrated Product Information Model Using STEP)

  • This research proposes an Integrated Product Information Model (IPIM) using STEP (Standard for the Exchange of product model data) for Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM) of Concurrent Engineering (CE). IPIM is based on Geometry and Topology (STEP Part 42), Form Feature (STEP Part 48), and Tolerance (STEP Part 48) for representing the integrated information of mechanical parts. For the IPIM, 1) new entities are developed for integration of existing entities, and 2) the existing entities are restructured and modified for a special application protocol. In CIM or CE, the advantages of using IPIM having integrated form of geometry, feature and tolerance are 1) integration of product design, process design and manufacturing sequentially or concurrently. 2) keep the product data consistency, modified by different domain, and 3) automatic data exchange between different application software and different hardware. The prototype system is composed of CAD, Data Probe, DBMS and SDAI (Standard Data Access Interface), and the generated STEP data is stored in a step file of DBMS for other applications.

  • This paper is study for database development for integrated structural system of RC buildings based on STEP In order to develope database, CIS/2 product model and INDECON application were used. CIS/2 will be accepted STEP(The STandard for the Exchange of Product model data) AP230 and INDECON(INtelligent structural DEsign system) is a Integrated structural system of RC buildings. The paper focuses on application from CIS/2 to INDECON database.

  • Concurrent Engineering is one of the methods which are used for the rapid product development. One of the important features in Concurrent Egineering is that the development process is to be parallel and the organization should be cross-functional. In order that the process be parallel and that the organization be cross-functional, an integrated information system such as PDM (Product Data Management) is required. Although the integrated data base is constructed, it could be meaningless if the application softwares were not inter-operable. This study shows an example of intergrated information system from three-dimensional product design to mold design and tooling for the development of Deflection Yoke(DY) which is one of the important parts of Cathode Ray Tube(CRT). A three-dimensional product design software, which is based on a commercial code, has been developed by ourselves. Selective Laser Sintering(SLS), which is one of the rapid prototyping techniques, has been used in this study. Mold design has been done by the three-dimensional way. A newly developed method of mold tooling, which is called Quick Die Manufacturing(QDM), has been introduced.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-layered architecture of workflow management systems based on CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture). The system aims to support product development processes in distributed environment. Many companies have started to adopt workflow management systems to manage and support their business processes. However, there are many problems in direct application of those systems to product development environments. These mainly resulted from the dynamic features of product development processes. It is strongly required to support dynamic processes as well as static and procedural ones in an integrated and consistent manner. To meet these requirements, a basic workflow management system has been developed as the core component of the integrated architecture. This performs the basic functions of workflow management system. Second, a dynamic workflow management system based on a bidding mechanism has been developed to manage processes that cannot be easily defined or are likely to be modified, Finally, an SGML workflow management system, which is the third layer in the architecture, has been developed to manage documents processing workflows by integration SGML documents contents and process information into the structured SGML document.

  • 현재 기업에서는 제품인증과 경영시스템인증의 신뢰성 확보가 중요한 과제이다. 이는 제품개발 중심에서 제품 및 프로세스의 통합 개발 중심으로 연구의 필요성을 제시 해주고 있다. 따라서, 정적인 제품인증에서 동적인 시스템인증의 필요성이 대두되면서 신뢰성경영시스템(DMS; Dependability Management System; IEC60300)이 요구되어진다. 제품개발의 프로세스에서 발생되는 신뢰성 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 트리즈(TRIZ ; Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) 기법을 활용하였다. 본 연구에서는 창의적 문제해결 방법론인 트리즈기법을 활용하여 신뢰성경영시스템에서 제품 및 프로세스 통합개발(IPPD; Integrated Product and Process Development)을 하고자 한다. 결과적으로 창의적 신뢰성경영시스템(CDMS; Creative Dependability Management System)을 제품 및 프로세스 통합개발 모델로 제시한다.

  • This paper proposes a framework for product development including hardware and software components. The framework provides separation of the hardware dependent software, an integrated product development process, and integration of software components with product configurations and product structures. In order to separates the hardware dependent software, the framework considers product configuration modules and engineering changes of associated hardware and software components. The proposed product development process integrates development of the hardware dependent software into the existing product development process. In order to integrates the hardware dependent software with product configurations and product structures, the framework represents software components by existing product data models in Product Data Management (PDM). The framework is applied to development of a robot system including hardware and software components in order to show its effectiveness.

  • The purpose of this paper is to study user's involvement in new product development (NPD). It seeks to identify the factors involving user and design practices in the design process of new product development. A survey was conducted on 20 respondents consisting of designers involved in product development from various industries. The study focused on the early activities of the product design process which is called product specification. The analysis performed considers the importance of involving users in design decision. The outcome of this research is the significance of involving users and its effect on product development activities. The research also provides a model for an integrated user, designer and product knowledge activity in the product development process.

  • This paper proposed a Web-based training service for product data management by supporting an integrated product data management system, various technical documents. and efficient communication systems. It also supports a general product development process and a consistent product data model that enable participants to experience management of consistent product information during the product development life cycle. The Web based environment of the service also provides participants with a collaborative workplace with other participants and a Web portal for all the components of the service.

  • This paper introduces an integration of Product Data Management (PDM) and Software Configuration Management (SCM). PDM and SCM have supported development of mechanical products and software products respectively. The importance of software components in the current products increases rapidly since the software enables the products to satisfy various customer requirements efficiently. Therefore the current product development needs enhanced product data management that can control both the hardware and software data seamlessly. This paper proposes an extended product data model for integrating SCM into PDM. The extension enables PDM document management to support the version control for software development. It also enables engineers to control both the software and hardware parts as integrated data objects during product configuration and engineering change management. The proposed model is implemented by using a commercial Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system and a development of a network based robot system is tested by the implemented product development environment.
