  • Background: To train dental hygienists to utilize knowledge in practice, an integrated curriculum based on the competencies of dental hygienists is expanding; however, in the field of basic dental hygiene the curriculum is still fragmented and based on segmented knowledge. This study developed an integrated curriculum based on the competencies of dental hygienists in Anatomy, Histology & Embryology, Physiology, which are subjects for basic dental hygiene that have high linkage and overlap. Methods: After selecting the learning objectives for the integrated curriculum from those of Anatomy, Histology & Embryology, Physiology, the duties of the dental hygienist in relation to the learning objectives were analyzed. Learning objectives were combined with the duties of a dental hygienist to derive competencies for an integrated curriculum. Referring to the syllabus and learning objectives for each subject, the weekly educational content, learning objectives, and credits of the integrated curriculum were derived. After conducting a Delphi survey to validate the competency and content of the derived integrated curriculum, an integrated curriculum was developed. Results: By using the first and second Delphi surveys, four competencies were developed for dental hygienists that can be achieved through an integrated basic dental hygiene curriculum. In addition, an integrated curriculum including the courses Anatomy, Histology & Embryology, Physiology, Structure and Function of the Human Body/Head/Neck, and Structure and Function of the Oral Cavity was established. Conclusion: This study presents a specific example for developing a competency-based integrated curriculum that can be used as a framework to derive a competency-based integrated curriculum among subjects that can be integrated according to the linkage of learning contents and the competencies that can be achieved.

  • Research studies have shown that phonological awareness focused analogies and anagrams can be used as an effective game-based teaching instruction. However, previous studies used analogies and anagrams as separate instructional tools, especially in EFL-related situations. There has been no vocabulary learning in analogies/anagrams instruction provided, nor has there been usage of an integrated workbook for 'vocabulary learning and analogies/anagrams'. This study examined the effect on learners' vocabulary acquisition scores when a truly phonological awareness integrated 'analogies/anagrams and vocabulary learning' workbook was used as an instructional practice workbook. The results show that the phonological awareness integrated instruction significantly increased learners' vocabulary acquisition scores among 40 college students with minimal or basic level of English proficiency.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to apply artificial intelligence technology efficiently to integrated security control technology. In other words, by applying machine learning learning to artificial intelligence based on big data collected in integrated security control system, cyber attacks are detected and appropriately responded. As technology develops, many large capacity Is limited to analyzing individual logs. The analysis method should also be applied to the integrated security control more quickly because it needs to correlate the logs of various heterogeneous security devices rather than one log. We have newly proposed an integrated security service model based on artificial intelligence, which analyzes and responds to these behaviors gradually evolves and matures through effective learning methods. We sought a solution to the key problems expected in the proposed model. And we developed a learning method based on normal behavior based learning model to strengthen the response ability against unidentified abnormal behavior threat. In addition, future research directions for security management that can efficiently support analysis and correspondence of security personnel through proposed security service model are suggested.

  • Learning rule affects importantly the performance of neural network. This paper proposes a new fuzzy learning rule that uses the learning rate considering the distance between the input vector and the prototypes of classes. When the learning rule updates the prototypes of classes, this consideration reduces the effect of outlier on the prototypes of classes. This comes from making the effect of the input vector, which locates near the decision boundary, larger than an outlier. Therefore, it can prevents an outlier from deteriorating the decision boundary. This new fuzzy learning rule is integrated into IAFC(Integrated Adaptive Fuzzy Clustering) fuzzy neural network. Iris data set is used to compare the performance of the proposed fuzzy neural network with those of other supervised neural networks. The results show that the proposed fuzzy neural network is better than other supervised neural networks.

  • This study intended to evaluate the viability of cyber education in terms of learning satisfaction and learning achievement. The study integrated two research streams such as social presence model and learning environment model. Where the learning environment model emphasizes the components of learning aids, social presence model considers more deeply the relationships among peers and with instructors. These two research streams have been considered relatively independently. The study integrated these ideas and measured their reliabilities and validities. The results demonstrate that the two constructs are relevantly independent and both of these constructs are very important considerations for the success of cyber education. The study concludes that cyber education 2.0 requires more social presence factors than the learning environment factors such as technological development or new equipments.

  • The purpose of this study is to confirm the possibility of whether learning using a math learning platform can be used to expand students' conceptual structure and to consider how to use it. To this end, first-year middle school students studied using a math learning platform. Then, the concept map created was compared and analyzed with the concept map created before learning to examine the change in the concept structure. The results of analyzing the concept map are as follows. First, the change in the hierarchical structure of the concept appeared as the division of the upper concept was subdivided. However, it has also been changed to comprehensively integrate and simplify higher concepts. The term-centered concept structure has changed to content-centered superordinate and subordinate concepts. In the concept structure, subordinate concepts linked to one higher concept were expanded and differentiated. Second, changes in the integrated structure did not form a linkage structure. The expansion of the integrated structure of concepts through learning using the learning platform was influenced by the composition of the learning contents designed in the learning platform.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine implications of pre-service science teacher training by analyzing science field integration and connection between learning content presented in 'Integrated Science' for high school students based on the 2015 revised science curriculum, and in pre-service science learning materials (textbooks) of the college of education. For this study, the 2015 revised 'Integrated Science' curriculum and 11 types of pre-service science teachers' learning materials related to physics, chemistry, biological science, and earth science were selected. The results were as follows. Most of the learning content presented in the 2015 revised 'Integrated Science' curriculum had integrated two or more science fields. Also, almost all learning content presented in the 2015 revised 'Integrated Science' curriculum were included in pre-service science teachers' education content, with educational content for chemistry introduced at the highest rate. The textbooks for pre-service science teachers had the most learning contents of 'Energy and Environment' domain of 'Integrated Science' for high school students. Accordingly, these results suggest that 'integrated science materials' should be developed for proper the curriculum implementation. Also, training courses for science teachers responsible for 'Integrated Science' are required. Furthermore, a revised curriculum for the college of education and a method to link with certification examinations for secondary school teachers are needed.
