It is necessary to improve mechanical and optical porperties in the optical disk substrates as the information storage devices with high storage density using blue laser are being developed. Injection compression molding is regarded as the most suitable process to manufacture optical disk substrates for quality recording and read-out. In the present research, the effects of processing conditions and the insulation layer thickness on gapwise birefringence and the land-groove pattern were investigated. It was found that the values of the birefringence distribution were very sensitive to mold temperature history, and the level of birefringence reduced and, furthermore, the quality of replication was improved due to the insulation layer.

AC and DC insulation breakdown voltage was studied for magnet wire coated with double layers of high flexural PAI layer and high anti-corona PAI/nanosilica (15 wt%) layer. The specimens were prepared at various drying temperatures (T/D): $22^{\circ}C$, $240^{\circ}C$, and $260^{\circ}C$, respectively. The increase effects of nanosilica on AC and DC insulation breakdown voltage were not so significant compared to that of magnet wire coil coated with original PAI. And the AC and DC insulation breakdown voltage was improved by decreasing diameter of winding coil. As T/D temperature increased, AC and DC insulation breakdown voltage decreased.

The primary insulation system used in an oil-filled transformer is Kraft paper, wood, porcelain and, of course, oil. Modern transformers use paper that is chemically treated to improve its tensile strength properties and resistance to aging caused by immersion in oil. These insulation papers are mainly aged to thermal stress. Over the course of the insulation paper and oil's life it is exposed to high temperatures, oxygen and water. Its interaction with the steel of the tank and core plus the copper and aluminium of the windings will eventually cause the chemical properties of the oil to decay. High temperature have an effect on mechanical strength of cellulous paper using the layer insulation. We made two aging cell in which thermal aging tests of insulation papers and mineral oil are conducted. It is measured dielectric strength, number of acid, moisture, etc. of insulation paper and oil aged in the aging cells.

Coil specimen was prepared by coating a copper wire with two varnish thin layers: the first was polyamideimide (PAI)/nanosilica (5 wt%) varnish and the second was anti-corona PAI/nanosilica (15 wt%) varnish. Insulation breakdown voltage was investigated under inverter surge condition at $20^{\circ}C$, $70^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, $150^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$, $250^{\circ}C$, respectively. The insulation lifetime of the two layered coil was tens of times longer than that of original PAI coil. And the insulation lifetime decreased with increasing ambient temperature because there was weak binding strength between copper and varnish layer.

In order to clarify the impact of anti-heat insulation pavement on the thermal structure of atmospheric boundary layer, field experiments and numerical simulations were carried out. Field experiment with various pavements were also conducted for 24 hours from 09LST 19 June 2007. And numerical experiment mainly focused on the impact of albedo variation, which is strongly associated with thermal characteristics of insulated pavement materials, on the temporal variation of planterly boundary layer. Numerical model used in this study is one dimension model with Planterly Boundary Layer developed by Oregon State University (OSUPBL). Because anti-heat insulation pavement material shows higher albedo value, not only maximum surface temperature but also maximum surface air temperature on anti-heat insulation pavement is lower than that on asphalt. The maximum value of surface temperature only reach on $49.5^{\circ}C$. As results of numerical simulations, surface sensible heat flux and the height of mixing layer are also influenced by the values of albedo. Therefore the characteristics of urban surface material and its impact on atmosphere should be clarified before the urban planning including improvement of urban heat environment and air quality.

This study is the experimental study to improve the insulation of the fastening unit system, which has the most vulnerable insulation in the curtain walls. The Fastening Units were designed and fabricated to minimize the connection part of mullions. In addition, slight movements were taken into account and the performance of the middle layer was evaluated by forming an insulation layer with the vibration-proof rubber and the silicon to satisfy the mechanical and thermal performance criteria. A total of 10 experiments were performed under various conditions, such as indoor-outdoor temperature difference, type of insulation material, thickness of insulation material, and others. using the fabricated Fastening Units. As a result, the vibration-proof rubber insulation showed the temperature difference of $2.2^{\circ}C-5.0^{\circ}C$, and the silicon insulation showed the temperature difference of $2.8^{\circ}C-4.5^{\circ}C$, compared to the non-insulated Fasteniirature difference, typesng Units. When these results were compared with the psychometric chart graph, the insulated Fastening Unit designed in this study can be considered to prevent the dew condensation.
An experimental study was performed to evaluate the effects of surface coating and an enhanced insulation structure on the downward facing boiling process and the critical heat flux on the outer surface of a hemispherical vessel. Steady-state boiling tests were conducted in the Subscale Boundary Layer Boiling (SBLB) facility using an enhanced vessel/insulation design for the cases with and without vessel coatings. Based on the boiling data, CHF correlations were obtained for both plain and coated vessels. It was found that the nucleate boiling rates and the local CHF limits for the case with micro-porous layer coating were consistently higher than those values for a plain vessel at the same angular location. The enhancement in the local CHF limits and nucleate boiling rates was mainly due to the micro-porous layer coating that increased the local liquid supply rate toward the vaporization sites on the vessel surface. For the case with thermal insulation, the local CHF limit tended to increase from the bottom center at first, then decrease toward the minimum gap location, and finally increase toward the equator. This non-monotonic behavior, which differed significantly from the case without thermal insulation, was evidently due to the local variation of the two-phase motions in the annular channel between the test vessel and the insulation structure.
The ZTO/p-Si thin film was produced and investigated for tunneling phenomena caused by the interface characteristics of the depletion layer. ZTO thin film was deposited and heat treated to produce barrier potentials by the depletion layer. The negative resistance characteristics were shown in the thin film of ZTO heat treated at $100^{\circ}C$, and the insulation properties were the best. Current decreased in the negative voltage direction by nonlinear show key characteristics, and current decreased in tunneling phenomenon by negative resistance in the positive voltage direction. Heat treated at $100^{\circ}C$, the ZTO thin film has increased barrier potential in the areas of the depletion layer and therefore the current has increased rapidly. The current has decreased again as we go beyond the depletion layer. Therefore, tunneling can be seen to make insulation better. In the ZTO thin film heat treated at $70^{\circ}C$ without tunneling, leakage current occurred as current increased at positive voltage. Therefore, tunneling effects by negative resistance were found to enhance insulation properties electrically.
Fire resistance and impact sound insulation tests were performed for a floor assembly, of which stiffness was reinforced by shortening the span of floor joists by installing glulam beam additionally in the middle or one thirds of the original span, and which an additional ceiling component was installed apart from floor structure. By applying the isolated ceiling, timber framed floor showed 1 hour of fire resistance even in case that dead load was increased by considering cement mortar layer for radiant floor heating. Insulation performance against light and heavy impact sound was improved significantly by applying the sound absorbing layer of big mass and high elasticity in addition to the stiffness improvement and isolated ceiling.

This study was to examine the effects of garment types on thermal insulation using a thermal manikin. cotton polyester wool silk and rayon were selected as outer wears like a blouse a skirt slacks and one-piece for this study Acetate was chosen as a lining. Brief and upper innerwear with long sleeves(cotton) were also chosen as the innerwear. The results were as follows: 1. The thermal insulation of the garment of single layer was in proportion to the covering area of garment in all types of clothing. 2. On adding the innerwear or the lining or both the thermal insulation of the each garment of single layer were showed a different trends by garment types. The thermal manikin insulations of one-piece dress adding the innerwear was higher than those of blouse-skirt suits. The thermal insulation of one-piece dress adding the innerwear and lining was lower than those of blouse-skirt suits. 3. The increasing rates of thermal insulation of multi-layered garments had different value by garment types but garment made of rayon and silk were showed very high increasing rates of thermal insulation. 4. The increasing rates of the thermal insulation of one-piece dress added the lining the innerwear or both except polyester showed the highest value and then blouse-slacks suits' turn came ound Blouse-skirt suits had the lowest the increasing rates of thermal insualition value.
