Development and Validation of an Instrument to Measure Nursing Information Literacy Competency

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument for measuring nursing information literacy competency, and then to examine the validity and reliability of the instrument. Methods: The developmental process of the instrument includes construction of a conceptual framework, generation of initial items, verification of content validity, preliminary study, extraction of final items, and psychometric testing. Its content validity was verified by three experts from nursing and nursing informatics. Its construct, convergent, and discriminant validity was examined in confirmatory factor analysis. Finally, its criterion validity was measured with Pearson's correlation. The tool's reliability was examined by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$. The participants include 382 nurses from four hospitals and one university hospital. Results: Twenty seven items in total were selected for the final scale, and the results of the confirmatory factor analysis were supported with acceptable model fit, which were named competency for identifying problem, potential sources for information, searching fine information, evaluating information, acquising and managing of information, using information ethically, and integrating new information. The convergent, discriminant and criterion validities were also supported. The Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ coefficient was .93. Conclusion: The instrument is valid and reliable to comprehensively assess nurses' information literacy competency, and to provide a basic direction for developing nursing information literacy program.

수술실 간호사의 직무 만족도 측정 도구 개발 연구 (Development and Validation of an Instrument to Measure the Job Satisfaction of Perioperative Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a valid and reliable instrument to explore and measure job satisfaction as perceived by perioperative nurses, specifically from the perspective of contemporary perioperative nursing in Korea. Method: Items (69) were developed from the responses to two open-ended questions by 168 perioperative nurses in one teaching hospital; (a) reasons that make work enjoyable, (b) reasons that make work unpleasant. Finally 55 items were selected, excluding items with lower correlation with the total scale. The instrument was completed by 885 perioperative nurses from 89 different hospitals nationwide who were attending the annual conference of the Korean Association Operating Room Nurses (KAORN), yielding a response rate of 95.6%. Results: Ten factors were extracted by factor analysis, which explained 60.0% of the total variance; Reliability and internal consistency were established (Cronbach's alpha=.95). A smaller sample of 39 perioperative nurses completed the instrument on two occasions, with a 2-week interval between. Mean scores were computed and two sets of scores were analyzed by Weighted Kappa (W-Kappa=0.680, p=.029). Conclusion: This instrument is a concise, highly practical and flexible tool, which can be used for the perioperative nurse in a wide range of hospital settings.

알츠하이머병에 관한 건강정보 이해력 측정도구 개발 및 평가: 농촌 노인을 대상으로 (Development and Evaluation of Health Literacy Instrument for Alzheimer's Disease: Case of Older Adults in Rural Areas)

  • Purpose: This study develops a health literacy instrument for Alzheimer's disease. Methods: Items were drawn from The Korean version of the Alzheimer's Disease Knowledge Scale (ADKS) and the Korean version of European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q47 & HLS-EU-Q16). Content validity was tested by experts. To further refine the questionnaires and test their reliability and validity, data were collected from 324 older adults in the community. Results: Five significant items in the two subscales were derived from the factor analysis. The subscales were named access and understanding. Reliability was good at Cronbach's ⍺ .79, and validity through exploratory factor analysis was KMO .897, p<.001, which was found to be high and significant. Conclusion: The instrument demonstrated high reliability and validity. Therefore, this instrument can contribute to the evaluation of health literacy for Alzheimer's Disease in older adults and to any subsequent intervention, as well as to develop a theory for health literacy for Alzheimer's Disease.

NI-9223과 전류프로브를 이용한 전류 및 누설전류 측정장치 개발 (Development of Electric Instrument of Current and Leakage Current based on NI-9223 and Current Prove)

  • This paper is purposed to develop portable electric instrument to select NI-9223(National instrument comp.) and clamp meter(HIOKI comp.), which can be used in developing electric instrument, to detect leakage current(ZCT) and current(CT) signals. In this paper, The electric instrument that can interface with current and leakage current instrument(HIOKI 9283), is developed by NI-9223 of NI comp.. HIOKI clamp meter can measure current signals certainly by high-sensitivity of 10 ${\mu}A$ resolution(leakage current : at 10 mA range) and current 1~200A range. The NI-9223 use four 16-bit analog-to-digital converters(ADCs) for true simultaneous sampling at up to 1 MS/s per channel. NI-9223 can synchronize all analog input modules installed in the same chassis to share the same start clock and/or sample clocks. The monitoring program is developed by SignalExpress of LabVIEW. The monitoring program are developed to analyze at simultaneous sampling on electrical signals such as leakage current(ZCT) and current(CT). The developed system verification tests were conducted, and portable electric instrument can be used in place which requires analysis of the actual electrical signal.

항암제 유발 말초신경병증 변증평가도구의 신뢰도 및 타당도 평가 (Reliability and Validity Analysis of an Instrument for Pattern Identification and Evaluation in Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reliability and validity of an instrument for pattern identification and evaluation in chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN).Methods: The study consisted of 66 patients with CIPN (visual analog scale ≥30 mm, Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group ≤2). The test-retest reliability of the instrument for pattern identification and evaluation in CIPN was tested twice with the same patients in one week.Results: Pearson’s coefficient test-retest reliability of the instrument was 0.601-0.777. The internal reliability of each part was 0.619-0.811. To confirm the validity of the instrument for pattern identification and evaluation for CIPN, the correlation between the score for each identification pattern and that of other CIPN instruments was analyzed. The results revealed a positive correlation between the Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-General and CIPN-20.Conclusion: The reliability of the instrument for pattern identification and evaluation in CIPN was moderate, and the validity analysis revealed a positive correlation.

'실행공동체' 관점에서 과학교실문화 분석을 위한 조사도구의 개발 및 적용 (Development and Application of the Measuring Instrument for the Analysis of Science Classroom Culture from the Perspective of 'Community of Practice')

  • 이 연구의 목적은 실행공동체(Community of Practice)의 관점에서 과학교실문화를 분석하기 위한 조사도구를 개발하고 이를 적용하여 그 활용가능성을 확인하는 데 있다. 문헌연구를 통하여 실행공동체의 구조적 요인을 설정하고 요인에 따른 예비문항을 개발하였다. 초등학교 4학년, 6학년, 중학교 2학년 총 219명의 학생들에게 예비조사를 실시하여 문항 타당도 및 신뢰도를 검증하였다. 탐색적 요인분석을 통하여 수정된 도구는 '학습 책임감'(responsibility for learning), '공동의 관심사'(common interest), '호혜적 인간관계'(mutual relationships), '개방적 참여'(open participation), '실행'(practice)의 총 5개 요인 27개 문항으로 구성되었다. 개발된 조사도구를 사용하여 초등학교 4학년과 6학년 학생 총 706명을 대상으로 본 조사를 실시하고 확인적 요인분석 및 신뢰도 분석을 실시하였다. 이를 통해 조사도구가 타당한 도구임을 확인하였으며, 초등학교 과학교실 공동체의 특성을 구조적 요인별, 학년별, 성별, 교사 특성별로 비교하여 분석하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 개발된 조사 도구는 공동체적 관점에서 과학교실을 분석하는데 활용될 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 바람직한 과학교실의 공동체를 위한 시사점을 제안할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

간호일터영성척도의 확인적 요인분석 (Development of Nursing Workplace Spirituality Instrument: Confirmatory Factor Analysis)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a nursing workplace spirituality instrument. Methods: Using 44 preliminary items which were developed in a former study, a survey was done with 469 nurses working in 2 city general hospitals. Data were collected from September 19 to October 10, 2014 and were analyzed using statistical packages SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. Results: The finalized Nursing Workplace Spirituality instrument consisted of 32 items and 6 sub factors: meaning of nursing, relationship with colleagues, transcendency through nursing service, inner self, interaction between the workplace environments, and harmony between individual and organization. A seven-point Likert scale was employed, and achieving a higher score in a particular factor and sum of all scores indicated high factor and Nursing Workplace Spirituality. Conclusion: Findings indicate that with this instrument, it is possible to understand nursing organization's workplace spirituality. Therefore this instrument is recommended for use in hospitals.

  • With the recent trend to get more into the information age we suppose that the need of information for medical industry policy establishment and new product development of medical instrument will increase rapidly. The object of this research & development is the construction of a database system with information resources in the field of medical instrument for an efficient application of domestic and abroad information in the field of medical instrument and building the foundation for the construction of an unified information management system. In this research we finished the analysis of the collected material of informations for medical instrument industry, design of the database system with object-oriented modelling is done. and we developed pre-product level information management system running on WINDOWS.

임상간호사의 업무수행 평정도구개발 (Development of a Task Performance Evaluation Instrument for Clinical Nurses)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument of task performance evaluation for clinical nurses, thus testing the validity and the reliability of the scale. Method: Data was collected from 84 Head Nurses and 255 General Nurses. A conceptual framework, composed of 4 factors of meaning in task performance evaluation, was identified through review of the relevant literature. A total of 78 items were developed and were used on a five-point likert scale. Through factor analysis, items whose factor loading was below 0.50 were deleted, thus 35 items remained. To test the validity and reliability of the instrument, the SPSS 11.0 windows program was used. Result: The results of the factor analysis indicated that 4 factors were classified and the cumulative percent of variance was 67.54%. The results of the reliability test indicated that Cronbach's coefficient of the total 35 items was over 0.9176. The results of the factor analysis indicated that factor loadings of all items was over 0.50. Conclusively, the validity and the reliability of the scale were proven. Conclusion: This study was identified as a tool with a high degree of reliability and validity.

초등학생 환경 소양 측정 도구의 개발 (The Development of the Environmental Literacy Instrument for the Elementary School Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop an instrument for measuring elementary school students' environmental literacy. The process of instrument development was four phases. The first two phases involved defining the domain of the construct, writing an initial pool of 55 items, and reviewing the items for revision and deletion. These steps were taken to provide the evidence of content-related validity, and to reduce a number of items. The third phase was, through item analysis, to determine the most appropriate items for the environmental literacy for the elementary school students. For the forth phases, the fifth and sixth students in elementary school participated in this survey. To examine the reliability and validity of environmental literacy for the elementary school students, internal consistency estimate, and factor analysis were used. The results of this study were summarized as follows; Firstly, thorough factor analysis, we developed Environmental Literacy Instrument for the elementary school students, consisted of total 41 items (knowledge 8 items, emotion 11 items, skill 10 items, and behavior 13 items); Secondly, Cronbach's alpha was .783 for knowledge, .832 for emotion, .866 for skill and 8.61 for behavior.
