This study aims to investigate the effects of flipped learning applied to home economics education on improving middle school students' academic engagement, self-directed learning ability and social interaction. The subjects of this study were 129 third-grade students in middle school. To verify the effects of flipped learning adequately, 129 middle school students divided into two groups have participated in the study over a course of nine weeks. One group was taught in the traditional instructed learning method while the other one in the flipped learning methods. The two groups were taught in 13 sessions in total once or twice a week, and each session took 45 minutes. For pretest and post test, the questionnaire consisting of academic engagement scale, self-directed learning scale and social interaction scale were used. To analyze data, ANCOVA was used to examine significant differences between two groups. The main results of this study were the following : First, students who participated in flipped learning are more improved than those who participate in instructed learning in academic engagement. Second, students who joined in flipped learning are much more improved than those who joined in instructed learning in self-directed learning ability. Third, students who join in flipped learning were much more improved than those who joined in instructed learning in social interaction.
The purpose of this study is to improve middle students'mathematical communication ability. We designed the mathematics instruction model based on Vygotsky's ZPD to develop the mathematical communication ability, and applied to 2nd grade students in Middle School. And we investigated the significant differences between the group which was instructed with mathematical communication and the group which was instructed with teacher's traditional explanation in aspects of learning achievement, mathematical disposition, and mathematical communication abilities. The results of the study are as follows : 1. There is no significant difference in learning achievement within significance level .05 between the group which was instructed with mathematical communication and the group which was instructed with teacher's traditional explanation by t-test. 2. There is a significant difference in reflection within significance level .01 and in self-confidence within significance level .10 by MANCOVA. 3. There is a significant difference in mathematical communication ability within significance level .01 between two groups by covariance analysis. In particular, there is a significant difference in reading within significance level .01 and in speaking within significance level .05 by t-test.

The purpose of this study is to analyze lesson plans from third to sixth grades of science and to find out teaching strategies in respects of learning functions provided by preservice elementary teachers in education university. On the whole, to control students' learning process preservice teachers used more shared-regulation strategy than strong teacher-regulation one. Teaching activities for regulative learning function were most used in strategy of strong teacher-regulation, and in strategy of shared-regulation those for cognitive learning functions were most used. But teaching activities for affective learning functions were used a little considered in both teaching strategies. In introduction step of instruction, affective and regulative learning functions were more instructed by strong teacher-regulation strategy and cognitive learning functions were more instructed by shared-regulation strategy. The affective, cognitive, and regulative learning functions were largely planned by shared-regulation teaching strategy in development. The regulative learning functions were planned by strong teacher-regulation strategy than by shared-regulation strategy and affective learning functions were considered a little bit in consolidation. There was a tendency that strong teacherregulation strategy was increased in lessons for fifth and sixth grade.

This study examined the effects of the learning cycle model by learner's characteristics such as I.Q., cognitive levels, inquiry skins, cognitive style, activity, reflectiveness. To see the effects of the learning cycle model, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest multiple treatment designs was used in the study. 99 middle school second-graders(female) were divided into two groups. One group was selected as the experimental group (n=50), the other served at the comparison group(n=49). During the eight-month period, the students in the experimental group were instructed according to the learning cycle model, while the students in the comparison group were instructed according to the traditional instruction methods. Achievement data from science achievement test were analyzed by an ANOVA technique. The results of the study are as follows : 1. Science knowledge achievement. For the lower level students of activity, the learning cycle model is superior to the traditional approaches in science knowledge achievement. 2. Science inquiry skills. For the upper level students of I.Q., cognitive levels, inquiry skills, cognitive style and reflectiveness, the learning cycle model is superior to the traditional approaches in science inquiry skills. 3. Attitudes toward science. For the lower level students of I.Q., cognitive levels, inquiry skills, cognitive style, activity and reflectiveness, the learning cycle model is superior to the traditional approaches in attitudes toward science.
This study was to investigate effects of instruction using the history of science on elementary school students' science learning motivation. Subjects were 48 students of two groups in the 5th Grade in Bucheon City. A Experimental group of 24 was instructed 20 lessons in Unit 1~7 using the history of science for a 11-week period. In this study, the instructional contents were selected by stories about scientists, discoveries or anecdotes about natural phenomena and related learning topics in national science curriculum. And they are presented by writings with pictures, cartoons, PPT materials and a script. Students play various learning activities such as exchanging opinions after reading instructional content, making a book or a newspaper, playing in a drama and representing by picture. A control group of 24 was instructed by traditional teaching methods in same period. To compare difference of instruction effects of the two groups, the score of pre-test and post-test were both estimated by t-test. The results of the study were as follows. Students of experimental group showed statistically a more significant increase in the science learning motivation than control group students (p<.05). Each of attention (A), relevance (R), satisfaction (S) sub-elements of learning motivation were higher in the experimental group and it was showed the instruction using the history of science was effective in improving of science learning motivation.

As Snow (1989) and Sternberg (1985) have long argued, learning, and adaptation to the learning environment or classroom context (at the levels of instructional treatment, interventionist focus on form technique, or pedagogic task) is a result of the interaction of context at each of these levels of description with learners' patterns of abilities. In this paper I argue that this is an important area of research for SLA pedagogy, as well as SLA theory development, and I review recent developments in the study of L2 learning conditions; of the abilities contributing to L2 aptitude; and of their interaction with the processes involved in successful classroom learning and practice, and propose a model of ‘multiple aptitudes’ for classroom learning based on these findings.

Purpose: The goal of this study was to see how flipped learning affected nursing students in South Korea who were enrolled in a quit smoking intervention education program. The flipped learning-based quit smoking intervention education program was developed to help nursing students implement the intervention. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted using a pretest-posttest design. A total of 52 nursing students, divided into experimental and control groups of 26 each, participated between November and December 2021. The experimental group was instructed in the flipped learning-based quit smoking intervention education program over six sessions. In accordance with flipped learning, each session was composed of pre-class, in-class, and post-class sections. Results: Compared to the control group, the experimental group showed improved beliefs about the health benefits of quitting smoking, as well as positive attitudes and self-efficacy from the quit smoking intervention. The experimental group experienced the greatest increase in student-centered activities and student participation through flipped learning. Conclusion: These results indicate that the flipped learning method was effective in quit smoking intervention education for nursing students. Therefore, it is worthwhile to consider that a quit smoking intervention education program based on flipped learning be included in the regular nursing curriculum.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of Semantic Network Program (SNP) instruction on learning achievement and motivation in high school biology classes. For this study, a SNP was designed by applying the recommendations in regard to student attention and satisfaction factors in Keller's ARCS theory. SNP instruction was conducted with an experimental group and a control group, each consisting of 62 high school biology class student. A pretest-posttest control group design was employed. The pre-test was used to analyze the learning achievement test, learning motivation test, and semantic forming test. For 4 weeks the experiment group was instructed using the developed SNP which centered on Keller's attention and satisfaction factors, and the control group was instructed via teacher-centered lectures based on the textbook. It was found that SNP instruction efficiently increased students' biology learning achievement (p<.001). It was also discovered that SNP instruction was effective in increasing Keller's motivation strategies on attention and satisfaction factors (p<.001). In addition, SNP instruction positively affected students' semantic formation (p<.001) and learning content retention (p>.05) in the heredity unit by aiding students in the area of active multimedia learning. An in depth interview with students in the class using SNP instruction showed that material learned via this method in biology had longer retention of problem-solving methods. Consequently, SNP instruction according to motivation strategies may high school biology teachers with meaningful teaching-learning methods strategies for the unit on heredity.
