반도체 광증폭기와 외부변조 기법을 이용한 전광 NOR 논리소자 (An All-Optical NOR Logic Device using a Semiconductor Optical Amplifier and an External Modulation Technique)

  • All-optical NOR logic device was realized by use of two pump signals with a single wavelength and a semiconductor optical amplifier(SOA). Specially, Mach-Zehnder(MZ) modulator was used for an external modulation of the pump signals. To obtain the sufficient gain saturation of the SOA, pump signals are amplified by an Er-doped fiber amplifier(EDFA) at the input of the SOA. Pump and probe signals are obtained from a DFB laser diode(${\lambda}_p$=1554 nm) and a tunable laser diode(${\lambda}_s$=1535 nm), respectively. The operation characteristics of the NOR logic device are successfully measured and demonstrated at the modulation frequency of 4.83 MHz.

Dempster 결합룰에 의한 전력용 변압기 외란상태판정 (Disturbance State Identification of Power Transformer Based on Dempster's Rule of Combination)

  • This paper proposes a fuzzy decision making method for power transformer protection to identify an internal fault from other transient states such as inrush, over-excitation and an external fault with current transformer (CT) saturation. In this paper, analyzing over 300 EMTP simulations of disturbances, four input variables are selected and fuzzified. At every sampling interval from half to one cycle after a disturbance, from the EMPT simulations, different fuzzy rule base is composed of twelve if-then fuzzy rules associated with their basic probability assignments for singleton- or compound-support hypotheses. Dempster's rule of combination is used to process the fuzzy rules and get the final decision. A series of test results clearly indicate that the method can identify not only an internal fault but also the other transients. The average of relay operation times is about 12(ms). The proposed method is implemented into a Digital Signal Processor (TMS320C31) and tested.

A Colour Support System for Townscape Based on Kansei and Colour Harmony Models

  • A townscape has been a main factor in urban-development problems in Japan. In the townscape, keeping harmony with environment is a common goal. But useful and meaningful goals are expressing individuality and impression of the town in the townscape. In this paper, we propose the colony planning support system system to improve the townscape. The system finds propositional colour combinations based on three elements, town image, colour harmony, and cost. The targets of this model are mostly townscapes in residential areas that already exist, In this paper, we introduce the construction of a Kansei evaluation model to quantify the impression. First, we conducted computer-based evaluational experiments for 20 subjects using the SD method to clarify the relationship between town image and street colours. We chose 16 adjective words related to town image and prepared 100 colour picture samples for the evaluation. After the experiments, we constructed the model using a neural network for each word. We chose 62 experimental results for the training data of the neural network and 20 results for the testing data. Each colour in the data was selected to have unique hue, brightness or saturation attributes, After the construction, we tested the model for accuracy. We input the testing data into the constructed model and calculated errors between the output from the model and the experimental results. Testing of the model showed that the model worked well for more than 80% of the samples. The model demonstrated influences of colours on the town image.

Enhanced effect of magnetic anisotropy on patterned Fe-Al-O thin films

  • As a result of the recent miniaturization and enhancement in the performance of thin film inductors and thin film transformers, there are increased demands for the thin films with a high magnetic permeability in the high frequency range, a high saturation magnetization, a high electrical resistivity, and a low coercive force. In order to improve high frequency properties, we will investigate anisotropy field by shape and size of pattern. The Fe-Al-O thin films of 16mm diameter and 1$\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness were deposited on Si wafer, using RE magnetron reactive sputtering technique with the mixture of argon and oxygen gases. The fabricating conditions are obtained in the working partial pressure of 2m Torr, O$_2$ partial Pressure of 5%, Input power of 400w, and Al pellets on an Fe disk with purity of 99.9%. For continuous thin film is the 4Ms of 19.4kG, H$\sub$c/ of 0.6Oe, H$\sub$k/ of 6.0Oe and effective permeability of 2500 up to 100MHz. In this work, we expect to enhanced effect of magnetic anisotropy on patterned of Fe-Al-O thin films.

  • WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) 광통신망의 노드에서 신호채널들이 분기 결합될 때 잔류채널들의 이득을 일정하게 제어해 주기 위해 고정이득 EDFA를 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 양방향 펌프에 의해 고이득을 가지는 L-band EDFA에서 발진광에 의해 입력변화를 보상해주는 방식으로 고정이득 EDFA를 구현하였다. 여기서 발진방향 및 파장에 따른 잔류채널의 과도응답 특성에 있어서 단파장 후방발진의 경우가 최적임을 확인할 수 있었다.

GaN HEMT를 이용한 Jamming용 고출력 고효율 광대역 증폭기 설계 (Design of High-Power and High-Efficiency Broadband Amplifier for Jamming Using GaN HEMT)

  • 본 논문에서는 GaN HEMT를 이용하여 Jamming용 System에 사용될 수 있는 고효율 및 고출력 특성을 가지는 광대역 Amplifier를 제작하였다. Jamming System에서 핵심이 되는 Amplifier는 넓은 범위의 주파수에서 통상적으로 사용되는 출력 신호에 비해 보다 높은 출력의 신호를 구현하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 GaN HEMT에 안정적인 전원 공급을 위한 음 전원 Bias 제어 회로와 Sequence 회로 및 온도에 따른 Gain 보상 회로를 구현하였으며, 500~2500MHz의 광대역에서 동작하면서 50W 이상의 출력을 낼 수 있도록 설계하였다. 출력 전력이 향상과 안정적인 동작을 위해 Main 출력 단은 60Watt 급의 GaN HEMT 소자와 광대역 Coupler를 이용하여 Balanced Structure로 설계하였다. 제작된 광대역 Amplifier는 30V 단일 전원에서 동작하도록 설계되었고, 크기는 140*90mm이다. 동작주파수 대역(500~2500MHz)에서 Small Signal Gain 63dB와 Gain Flatness ${\pm}$2dB, -10dB 이하의 Input Return Loss를 가진다. CW(Continuous Wave) Signal을 이용하여 측정하였으며, 50Watt 이상의 Saturation Power에서 최대 45%, 최소 28% 정도의 효율 특성을 보였다.

히스테리시스를 갖는 온-오프 제어기에 의한 서보모터의 제어 (Servo Motor Control by On-Off Controller with Hysterisis)

  • All physical systems are nonlinear to some degree. The examples are relay, backlash, deadzone, saturation element and so on. In the linear control system design, it is useful method to restrict the nonlinearity to the linearity of system over the operation range. It is worth noting that nonlinearities may be intentionally introduced in to a system. A simple of an intentional non-linearity is the Bang-Bang controller which uses the On-Off relay. In this paper, an angular position servosystem made of a DC servomotor controlled by a microcomputer is discribed. Authors use two methods in the design of controller. The one is linear controller designed by the optimal feedback control theory only and the other is nonlinear controller designed by On-Off relay with optimal feedback control theory. To do the real time control, the controller is designed by using 16bit personal computer and A/D.D/A converter(12bit) is used in order to convert the signal. According to this way, the results from real time control are as follows. 2) Under the On-Off controller with hysterisis the influence of disturbance is considerably smaller than the linerar controller. 3) An increase in the sampling period has a destabilizing effect. 4)In the controller performance, the response time of the On-Off controller is longer than that of the linear controller. To close, we note that the On-Off controller with hysterisis is more attractive than the linear controller in the presence of the input limit.

Styrene Degradation in a Polyurethane Biofilter Inoculated with Pseudomonas sp. IS-3

  • In a search for bacteria capable of degrading styrene better than previously isolated strains, bacterium IS-3 was isolated from activated sludge and found to be most closely related to Pseudomonas sp. Styrene degradation by this strain was tested in liquid cultures and polyurethane-packed biofilters. In liquid cultures, the rate of styrene degradation by this bacterium increased from 24.93 to $76.53\;{\mu}mol\;g^{-1}\;DCW\;H^{-1}$ for an initial mass range from 8.7 to $34.8{\mu}mol$. The maximum styrene elimination capacity was 580-635 $g/m^{3}\cdot$h at a space velocity (SV) of 50-200/h. The critical elimination capacities guaranteeing $95\%$ removal of the input styrene were determined to be 635, 170, and 38 $g/m^{3}\cdot$h, respectively, at SVs of 50, 100, and 200/h. Kinetic analysis revealed that the maximum styrene elimination velocity ($V_{m}$) for this biofilter was 1,000 g/m$\cdot$h, and the saturation constant ($K_{m}$) was 454 ppmv. Together, these results suggest that a polyurethane biofilter containing Pseudomonas sp. IS-3 could have potential practical applications for the effective removal of styrene gas.

광합성 미세조류인 Chlorococcum littorale을 이용한 이산화탄소의 생물학적 고정화

  • Chlorococcum littorale has been grown in high $CO_2$ concentrations to utilize $CO_2$ gas in the polluted air. The effect of incident light intensity on the specific growth rate is expressed by a photoinhibition model, showing half- saturation constant, $K_0\;as\;8\;(W/m^2)$ and inhibition constant, Ki as 35 $(W/m^2)$. The maximum specific growth rate was also estimated as 0.095 (1/day) under this condition. This strain maintained the optimum growth rate in 20% of $CO_2$ gas but 50% of input $CO_2$ gas is the maximum concentration considering the economical efficiency. The maximum Specific $CO_2$ consumption rate, $qCO_2$ was measured as 17.48 (mg $CO_2/g$ dry wt./day) in batch cultivation, 11.2 (mg $CO_2/g$ dry wt./day) in fed-batch cultivation and 10.87 (mg $CO_2/g$ dry wt./day) at 0.065 (1/day) of dilution rate in continuous cultivation. The chemical composition of the biomass obtained from this process showed 32.5% of protein, 27.5% of lipid, 16.5% of carbohydrate and ash 11.7%.

개선된 유전 알고리즘 기반의 휴머노이드 로봇의 안정 보행을 위한 제어기 구현 (Implementation of the Controller for a Stable Walking of a Humanoid Robot Using Improved Genetic Algorithm)

  • This paper deals with the controller for a stable walking of a humanoid robot using genetic algorithm. A humanoid robot has instability during walking because it isn't fixed on the ground, and its nonlinearities of the joints increase its instability. If controller isn't robust, the robot may fall down at the ground during walking because of its nonlinearities. To solve this problem, robust controller is required to reduce the effect of nonlinearities and to gain the good tracking performance. In this paper, motion controller that is based on fuzzy-sliding mode controller is proposed. This controller can remove the effect of the saturation by limitation of the input voltage. It also includes compensator for reducing the effect of the nonlinearity by backlash and PI controller improving the tracking performance. In here, genetic algorithm is used for searching the optimal gains of the controller. From the given controller, a humanoid robot can moved more preciously. All the processes are investigated through simulations and are verified experimentally in a real joint system for a humanoid robot.
