Efficient Optimum Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures using the Mixed-Discrete Optimization Method

  • Abstract A series of permeability tests was performed on the mixtures with specific mixing rates of sand and bentonite using modified rigid-wall permeameter. Sand-bentonite mixtures were permeated by organics, ethanol and TCE. Permeability of bentonite with several mixing rates had a tendency to decrease up to initial one pore volume and permeability was thereafter converged to a constant value. When sand-bentonite mixtures was permeated by water, permeability was decreased at the beginning but it was thereafter converged to a constant. Among several mixing rates, permeability was greatly decreased at 15% of mixing rate. When sand-bentonite mixtures with 15% mixing rate was permeated by ethanol, permeability was about 10 times larger value than permeability of water. Peameability was shown greater values when permeated by TCE (TrichloroEthylene) followed by ethanol. Suitable mixing rate of sand-bentonite for a liner of waste landfills was detected.

  • In this study, a measuring system of the initial permeability of soft-ferrite powder was developed by using a differential transformer coil. and was investigated demagnetizing factors. Magnetic powder is extensively used for a magnetic fluid and microwave absorber materials etc. In these applications, it is very important for us to measure the initial permeability of magnetic ceramic powder. Unfortunately there are not any measuring equipment and method directly up to the present.

  • We have studied properties(crystal structure, density, absorption, contraction, initial permeability, and permeability) of Ba$\sub$0.2/Me$\sub$0.31/Fe$\sub$0.49/(Me:Ni$\sub$1-x/, Cu$\sub$x/ x=0~1) ferrites with various Me site, because of development of magnetic materials for inductor. As a results of the density, absorption rate, and shrinkage rate, the sintering temperature of Ba$\sub$0.2/ Me$\sub$0.31/ FEesub 0.49/(Me:Ni$\sub$1-x/ x=0.25, 0.75) had got over 1100$^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. According to SEM images, the configurations of grain were hexagonal, Increasing the sintering temperature, initial Permeability increased. The complex permeabilities as a function of for several MHz showed constants.

  • Liquid permeabilities of red oak and several softwoods were measured by the pressure bomb method and a modified liquid permeability method in order to investigate their efficacy. The effect of preboiling and prefreezing on wood permeability were also examined for both green and resaturated specimens. Regardless of some disadvantages these two methods were revealed as a handy tool for quick evaluation of the permeability of an unknown species. The permeabilities of the resaturated specimens increased when preboiled. but decreased when prefrozen. For green specimens, however, pre freezing increased permeability. The discrepancy of the pre freezing effect on two specimens partially attributes to their difference of initial permeabilities. For all species except radiata pine heartwood, the radii of the effective capillary pores, derived from the water potential equation, distribute from $0.42{\mu}m$ to $7.2{\mu}m$. Those of radiata pine heartwood are below $0.46{\mu}m$.

  • 최근 자기치유 재료에 대한 연구는 보수하기 힘들거나, 보수비용이 많이 소요되는 구조물에 대해 구조물 스스로 손상을 치유하여 사용수명을 증가시키기 위해 많이 수행되어오고 있다. 현재 널리 사용되고 있는 자기치유 평가 방법으로는 투수시험이 있다. 하지만, 자기치유 평가 방법에서 자기치유 성능은 콘크리트의 초기 균열 폭에 큰 영향을 받지만 일관된 기준을 가지고 있지 않은 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 기존 연구에서 사용한 균열 폭과 투수량을 기반으로 균열 폭-투수량의 상관관계와 시간-투수량의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 또한, 광학현미경을 이용하여 측정한 초기 균열 폭은 신뢰성이 떨어지므로 Poiseuille flow에서 ${\alpha}$값을 도출하여 시간-균열 폭에 대한 상관관계를 분석하여 시간-투수량과 시간-균열 폭에 대한 경향을 분석하였다.

  • Large amount of binders and high-range AE water-reducing (HRWR) agent are required for self-consolidating concrete in order to achieve flowability and segregation resistance. In this study, the initial permeability of SSC(self-consolidating concrete) until the age of 28 days is measured and compared with those of other SSCs, in which some parts of cement are substituted with fly ash or blast furnace slag. The strengths of SSC samples are also examined along with the permeability change.

  • Ni-Zn ferrite is required to have predominant and stable characteristics in the range of high frequency for the power line communication, so that microstructures and magnetic properties such as power loss and initial permeability in $Ni_{0.8}Zn_{0.2}Fe_2O_4$ were investigated in terms of variable $Bi_2O_3,CaO$ and $V_2O_5$ contents. $Bi_2O_3$ and $V_2O_5$ liquid phase created during sintering process promoted sintering and grain growth but much of the closed pore existed in the grains. The grain size of the specimens with $V_2O_5$ of over 0.5 wt% decreased as the result of "pinning effect"and the resonance frequency increased with CaO of 0.3we%. The high initial permeability of 81.52%, resonance frequency of 17.05 MHz and low power loss of 17,858 kW/$\textrm{m}^3$ were obtained from the samples with $Bi_2O_3$ of 0.5, CaO of 0.3, and $V_2O_5$ of 0.7 wt%.

SH-wave in a piezomagnetic layer overlying an initially stressed orthotropic half-space

  • The existence of SH-wave in a piezomagnetic layer overlying an initially stressed orthotropic half-space is investigated. The coupled of differential equations are solved for piezomagnetic layer overlying an orthotropic elastic half-space. The general dispersion equation has been derived for both magnetically open circuit and magnetically closed circuits under the four types of boundary conditions. In the absence of the piezomagnetic properties, initial stress and orthotropic properties of the medium, the dispersion equations reduce to classical Love equation. The SH-wave velocity has been calculated numerically for both magnetically open circuit and closed circuits. The effect of initial stress and magnetic permeability are illustrated by graphs in both the cases. The velocity of SH-wave decreases with the increment of wave number.

$MoO_3$ 첨가가 Mn-Zn Ferrites의 투자율에 미치는 영향 (Effect of $MoO_3$ addition on the permeability of Mn-Zn ferrites)

  • MoO$_3$의 첨가가 Mn-Zn ferrites의 투자율에 미치는 효과를 고찰하였다. 하소 후 분쇄과정에서 MoO$_3$를 각각 600 ppm, 800ppm, 1,000pp으로 첨가하였다. 소결은 135$0^{\circ}C$에서 3시간 동안 수행하였으며 냉각시 산소분압을 조절하였다. 승온속도를 분당 5$^{\circ}C$로 했을 경우 MoO$_3$를 첨가하지 않은 시편의 경우 8,000정도의 초기투자율 값을 나타내었고 MoO$_3$를 600 ppm, 800 ppm 첨가한 시편에서는 초기투자율의 값이 13,200, 13,550으로 증가하였다. 그러나 1,000 ppm 첨가한 경우에는 1,00$\mu\textrm{m}$ 이상의 과대입성장이 관찰되었으며 초기투자율 값 또한 감소하였다. 반면에 승온속도를 분당 1$0^{\circ}C$로 변화한 시편의 경우 MoO$_3$첨가량이 1,000ppm일 때 과대입성장이 관찰되지 않았고 초기투자율이 15,000 이상의 높은 값을 나타내었다.

Deformation and permeability evolution of coal during axial stress cyclic loading and unloading: An experimental study

  • In coal mining activities, the abutment stress of the coal has to undergo cyclic loading and unloading, affecting the strength and seepage characteristics of coal; additionally, it can cause dynamic disasters, posing a major challenge for the safety of coal mine production. To improve the understanding of the dynamic disaster mechanism of gas outburst and rock burst coupling, triaxial devices are applied to axial pressure cyclic loading-unloading tests under different axial stress peaks and different pore pressures. The existing empirical formula is use to perform a non-linear regression fitting on the relationship between stress and permeability, and the damage rate of permeability is introduced to analyze the change in permeability. The results show that the permeability curve obtained had "memory", and the peak stress was lower than the conventional loading path. The permeability curve and the volume strain curve show a clear symmetrical relationship, being the former in the form of a negative power function. Owing to the influence of irreversible deformation, the permeability difference and the damage of permeability mainly occur in the initial stage of loading-unloading, and both decrease as the number of cycles of loading-unloading increase. At the end of the first cycle and the second cycle, the permeability decreased in the range of 5.777 - 8.421 % and 4.311-8.713 %, respectively. The permeability decreases with an increase in the axial stress peak, and the damage rate shows the opposite trend. Under the same conditions, the permeability of methane is always lower than that of helium, and it shows a V-shape change trend with increasing methane pressures, and the permeability of the specimen was 3 MPa > 1 MPa > 2 MPa.
