  • The Infrared touch method is generally used for a mid and large-size touch screen. But this method has several problems, such as difficulty with installation of a touch-object recognition device, limited application and coordinate error in multi-point touch system. Since we can take advantages of both color and local information when we use general cameras for a touch screen, a touch screen using general camera is more efficient than infrared one. It also has an advantage of easy installation of a touch-object device. However, it did not much appeal in a market because of several problems, such as color sensitivity, illumination and reflected light. In this paper, we study a method for a touch screen using a general camera and image processing method to recognize touch objects and coordinate calculation method to single and multi-point touch screen. It has the same recognition performance as an infrared touch screen for single-point method. And it does not have ghost point problem by using distance information of touch object and camera in multi-point touch system. But recognition performances of multi-point touch screen are less than single-point. If we improve execution time, this method can replace an infrared method for a single point touch screen, according to result of experience.

  • This study aimed to a basic research for the development of dye-sensitized solar cells that the wavelength band required for crop growth is passed, and the wavelength band that is not necessary for crop growth can be used for the generation of electricity. The transmissivity according to the illuminance was about 10% higher in the Blue filter and the Green filter than in the Red filter, but the transmissivity according to the PPFD was about 10% higher in the Red filter and the Blue filter than in the Green filter. In addition, the greenhouse attached with 30% infrared blocking filter was predicted to have a lower air temperature than other greenhouses, but it was investigated that there was no significant difference. Therefore, it was investigated that the application of the infrared cut filter would not be appropriate in a greenhouse that controls the temperature by opening a window. As a result of investigating, it was found that the Green and Blue filter greenhouses had the severe overgrowth and the stems grew weaker. The fresh weight of paprika in the infrared blocking filter greenhouse was the highest at 678.9g, and the growth of Red filter and the control greenhouses was relatively poor. Photosynthetic rate, amount of transpiration, and stomatal conductivity were the infrared blocking filter and control greenhouse higher than others. On the other hand, the water use efficiency did not show a big difference.

  • We have studied the central parts of M82, which is a well-known infrared luminous, starburst galaxy, by analyzing archival data from the Infrared Space Observatory (ISO). M82 was observed at 11 positions covering $\pm$45" from the center along the major axis. We analyzed 4 emission lines, [ArIII] 8.99 ${\mu}m$, $H_2$ 17.034 ${\mu}m$, [FeII] 25,98 ${\mu}m$, and [SiII] 34,815 ${\mu}m$ from $SWSO_2$ data. The integrated flux distributions of these lines are quite different. The $H_2$ line shows symmetric twin peaks at $\~$18" from the center, which is a general characteristic of molecular lines in starburst or barred galaxies. This line appears to be associated with the rotating molecular ring at around $\~$200 pc just outside the inner spiral arm. The relative depletion of the $H_2$ line at the center may be due to the active star formation activity which dissociates the $H_2$ molecules. The other lines have peaks at the center and the distributions are nearly symmetric. The line profiles are deconvolved assuming that both intrinsic and instrumental profiles are Gaussian. The velocity dispersion outside the core is found to be $\~50 km s^{-1}$. The central velocity dispersion is much higher than $50 km s^{-1}$, and different lines give different values. The large central velocity dispersion ($\sigma$) is mostly due to the rotation, but there is also evidence for a high $\sigma$ for [ArIII] line. We also generated position-velocity maps for these four lines. We found very diverse features from these maps.

  • Thermal infrared cameras have been conducted actively in various application areas, such as military, medical service, industries and cars. Because of their characteristic of sensing the radiant heat emitted from subjects in the range of long-wavelength($3{\sim}5{\mu}m$ or $8{\sim}12{\mu}m$), and of materializing a vision system, when general optics materials are used, they don't react to the light in the range of long-wavelength, and can't display their optic functions. Therefore, the materials with the feature of higher refractive index, reacting to the range of long-wavelength, are to be used. The kinds of materials with the characteristic of higher refractive index are limited, and their features are close to those of metals. Because of these metallic features, the existing producing method of optical systems were direct manufacturing method using grinding method or CAD/CAM, which put limit on productivity and made it difficult to properly cope with the increasing demand of markets. GASIR, a material, which can be molded easily, was selected among infrared ray optics materials in this study, and the optical system was designed with two Aspheric lenses. Because the lenses are molded in the environment of high temperature and high pressure, they require a special metallic pattern. The metallic pattern was produced with materials with ultra hardness that can stand high temperature and high pressure. As for the lens mold, GMP(Glass Molding Press) of the linear transfer method was used in order to improve the productivity of optical systems for thermal infrared cameras, which was the goal of this paper.

  • Objective : This study is for providing data about men's functional sport underpants. It provides the fundamental data of biomechanics by measuring and analyzing the functionality of various underpants using infrared thermal image camera. Method : Then author drew a conclusion based on the final analysis of 965 questionnaire survey results about issues on men's functional sport underpants after discarding invalid questionnaires, as following. Change in body temperature while wearing functional underpants compared to general briefs or boxer pants showed lower temperature by approximately 1~2 degrees Celsius. In the case of general underpants, wearer sweats and feels hotter due to the friction of penis, scrotum and thigh. However functional sport functional underpants improved this issue with ergonomic 3D design by putting penis towards the lower part of the abdomen(below the navel) while putting the scrotum comfortably on the testicles, which enables to make room between the penis, scrotum and thigh of a wearer. Results : This was analyzed to lower the temperature of penis and scrotum. The survey results about the quality of functional underpants showed that 78% of the respondents felt comfortable while driving; 68.5% replied that frictional heat decreased while working out; 78.7% felt less sweat and humidity; 81.7% replied as highly wearable and comfortable; 77.1% replied functional sport underpants were the most comfortable in routine lives or in workout times. Putting all such results together, it is possible to conclude that functional sport is an excellent product. Conclusion : This can be evaluated as an excellent functional sport underpants, towards the penis abdomen (under the navel) in 3D human engineering design, by the scrotum to wearing to be easier to scrotum of pocket, the penis and scrotum and thighs were separated and analyzed with a function that will lower the body temperature of the penis and scrotum.

  • The performance of hidden camera cameras is improving day by day due to miniaturization and advanced technology integration according to the speed of technological development of smartphones. As this external networking computing environment is advanced and diversified, exposure to hidden cameras in addition to general safety cameras is also increasing. On the other hand, the technology for detecting and preventing hidden cameras is not keeping up with the development and speed of these hidden cameras. Therefore, in this study, the heat of the hidden camera was detected using infrared thermal detection technology based on general image and thermal image synthesis technology, and the reflectance of each wavelength according to the difference in ambient temperature was analyzed to reduce the false positive rate.

  • A roof surface temperature monitoring, utilizing remotely sensed thermal infrared image has been specifically proposed to explore evidential data for heating load in winter by cool roof. The remotely sensed thermal infrared image made it possible to identify area-wide patterns of changing trends of surface temperature according to rooftop color (white, black, blue, green) which cannot be acquired by traditional field sampling. The temperature difference of cool roof having a higher solar reflectance were ranged from $3^{\circ}C$ up to $9^{\circ}C$, compared to the general roofs. It is confirmed that there is a significant potential to the energy saving by introducing the cool roof in a Korean climate since up to $18.46^{\circ}C$ difference in cool roof, compared to the general roofs in summer were already identified in Seoul, South Korea. It is anticipated that this research output could be used as a valuable reference in identifying heating load in winter by cool roof since an objective monitoring has been proposed based on the area-wide measured, fully quantitative performance of remotely sensed thermal infrared image.

  • [Fe II] emission lines are prominent in the infrared (IR) and important as diagnostic tools for radiative atomic shocks. We investigate the emission characteristics of [Fe II] lines using a shock code developed by Raymond (1979) with updated atomic parameters. We first review general characteristics of the IR [Fe II] emission lines from shocked gas, and derive their fluxes as a function of shock speed and ambient density. We have compiled available IR [Fe II] line observations of interstellar shocks and compare them to the ratios predicted from our model. The sample includes both young and old supernova remnants in the Galaxy and the Large Magellanic Cloud and several Herbig-Haro objects. We find that the observed ratios of the IR [Fe II] lines generally fall on our grid of shock models, but the ratios of some mid-IR lines, e.g., [Fe II] 35.35 µm/[Fe II] 25.99 µm, [Fe II] 5.340 µm/[Fe II] 25.99 µm, and [Fe II] 5.340 µm/[Fe II] 17.94 µm, are significantly offset from our model grid. We discuss possible explanations and conclude that while uncertainties in the shock modeling and the observations certainly exist, the uncertainty in atomic rates appears to be the major source of discrepancy.

  • We have studied the environmental effect on optical-NIR color gradients of 273 nearby elliptical galaxies. Color gradient is a good tool to study the evolutionary history of elliptical galaxies, since the steepness of the color gradient reflects merging history of early types. When an elliptical galaxy goes through many merging events, the color gradient can be get less steep or reversed due to mixing of stars. One simple way to measure color gradient is to compare half-light radii in different bands. We have compared the optical and near infrared half-light radii of 273 early-type galaxies from Pahre (1999). Not surprisingly, we find that $r_e(V)s$ (half-light radii measured in V-band) are in general larger than $r_e(K)s$ (half-light radii measured in K-band). However, when divided into different environments, we find that elliptical galaxies in the denser environment have gentler color gradients than those in the less dense environment. Our finding suggests that elliptical galaxies in the dense environment have undergone many merging events and the mixing of stars through the merging have created the gentle color gradients.

  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are considered to be carriers of the unidentified infrared bands, which are ubiquitously observed in the Universe. PAHs are mainly formed around evolved carbon-rich stars and injected into interstellar space. Planetary nebulae (PNe), a late stage of low- and intermediate stellar mass evolution, are suitable objects to investigate the formation and evolution of PAHs. The shortest PAH feature is located in $3.3{\mu}m$, which is important to examine the excitation and size distribution of PAHs. While the number of samples had been limited before, the high sensitivity of AKARI /IRC has drastically increased the number of samples. We obtained the $2-5{\mu}m$ spectra of Galactic PNe with AKARI /IRC and compiled a near-infrared spectral catalog, containing 73 PNe. We investigate the detection rate and the evolution of the PAH features. The characteristics of the catalog are illustrated and the origin of the evolution of the PAH features is discussed.
