  • A silicon-gate n-well CMOS process with 3 $\mu$m gate length was developed and its possibility for the applications was discussed,. Threshold voltage was easily controlled by ion implantation and 3-$\mu$m gate length with 650 $\AA$ oxide shows ignorable short channel effect. Large value of Al-n+ contact resistance is one of the problems in fabrications of VLSI circuits. Transfer characteristics of CMOS inverter is fairly good and the propagation delay time per stage in ring oscillator with layout of (W/L) PMOS /(W/L) NMOS =(10/5)/(5/5) is about 3.4 nsec. catch-up occurs on substrate current of 3-5 mA in this process and critically dependent on the well doping density and nt-source to n-well space. Therefore, research, more on latch-up characteristics as a function of n-well profile and design rule, especially n+-source to n-well space, is required.

A Successive Region Setting Algorithm Using Signal Strength Ranking from Anchor Nodes for Indoor Localization in the Wireless Sensor Networks (실내 무선 센서 네트워크에서의 측위를 위하여 고정 노드 신호들의 크기 순위를 사용한 순차적 구역 설정 알고리즘)

  • Researches on indoor localization using the wireless sensor network have been actively carried out to be used for indoor area where GPS signal is not received. Computationally efficient WCL(Weighted Centroid Localization) algorithm is shown to perform relatively well. However, to get the best performance for WCL all the anchor nodes must send signal with power to cover 96% of the network. The fact that outside the transmission range of the fixed nodes drastic localization error occurs results in large mean error and deviation. Due to these problems the WCL algorithm is not easily applied for use in the real indoor environment. In this paper we propose SRS(Succesive Region Setting) algorithm which sequentially reduces the estimated location area using the signal strength from the anchor nodes. The proposed algorithm does not show significant performance degradation corresponding to transmission range of the anchor nodes. Simulation results show that the proposed SRS algorithm has mean localization error 5 times lower than that of the WCL under free space propagation environment.

A Parallel Equalization Algorithm with Weighted Updating by Two Error Estimation Functions (두 오차 추정 함수에 의해 가중 갱신되는 병렬 등화 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, to eliminate intersymbol interference of the received signal due to multipath propagation, a parallel equalization algorithm using two error estimation functions is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, multilevel two-dimensional signals are considered as equivalent binary signals, then error signals are estimated using the sigmoid nonlinearity effective at the initial phase equalization and threshold nonlinearity with high steady-state performance. The two errors are scaled by a weight depending on the relative accuracy of the two error estimations, then two filters are updated differentially. As a result, the combined output of two filters was to be the optimum value, fast convergence at initial stage of equalization and low steady-state error level were achieved at the same time thanks to the combining effect of two operation modes smoothly. Usefulness of the proposed algorithm was verified and compared with the conventional method through computer simulations.

  • In this paper, the loop coupling model for the analysis of end launcher rectangular waveguide adapter are proposed. The formula of input impedance from this model are presented. The influence of propagation mode and higher modes in rectangular waveguide are analyzed and design parameters of the end launcher adapter are investigated. The computational results between the proposed theoretical analysis and the previous papers are compared and are verified by HFSS. The end launcher rectangular waveguide adapter consists of the coupling geometry which is connected the inner conductor of $50{\Omega}$ coaxial line through into the 17.6mm feeding loop in a WR90 commercial waveguide, and the VSWR is maximum 2.0 over operating frequency from 7.5GHz to 10.6GHz.

Upper Body Tracking Using Hierarchical Sample Propagation Method and Pose Recognition (계층적 샘플 생성 방법을 이용한 상체 추적과 포즈 인식)

  • In this paper, we propose a color based hierarchically propagated particle filter that extends the color based particle filter into the articulated upper body tracking. Since color feature is robust to partial occlusion and rotation, the color based particle filter is widely used for object tracking. However, in articulated body tacking, it is not desirable to use the traditional particle filter because the dimension of the state vector usually is high and thus, many samples are required for robust hacking. To overcome this problem, we use a hierarchical tracking method for each body part based on the blown body part. By using a hierarchical tracking method, we can reduce the number of samples for robust tracking in the cluttered environment. Also for human pose recognition, we classify the human pose into eight categories using Support Vector Machine(SVM) according to the angle between upper- arm and fore-arm. Experimental results show that our proposed method is more efficient than the traditional particle filter.

Development of an Artificial Neural Network Expert System for Preliminary Design of Tunnel in Rock Masses (암반터널 예비설계를 위한 인공신경회로망 전문가 시스템의 개발)

  • A tunnel design expert system entitled NESTED is developed using the artificial neural network. The expert system includes three neural network computer models designed for the stability assessment of underground openings and the estimation of correlation between the RMR and Q systems. The expert system consists of the three models and the computerized rock mass classification programs that could be driven under the same user interface. As the structure of the neural network, a multi -layer neural network which adopts an or ror back-propagation learning algorithm is used. To set up its knowledge base from the prior case histories, an engineering database which can control the incomplete and erroneous information by learning process is developed. A series of experiments comparing the results of the neural network with the actual field observations have demonstrated the inferring capabilities of the neural network to identify the possible failure modes and the support timing. The neural network expert system thus complements the incomplete geological data and provides suitable support recommendations for preliminary design of tunnels in rock masses.

  • Since Wavelet Transform decomposes a video frame into subbands with various frequencies and resolutions, the reconstructed video qualify at a receiver fluctuates according to the location of transmission errors within frames. This deteriorates the whole visual duality of the video. Specifically, for a wavelet based video which exploits the motion estimation prediction scheme, the transmission errors of a subband not only have a bad effect on other subbands within a same frame but also propagates to the subsequent frames. In this paper, we propose BDP(Block Based Dispersive Packetization) scheme, for a wavelet based video stream, which maintains constant video quality despite packet location that a transmission error occurs. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we use MRME(Multi-Resolution Motion Estimation) scheme to compress a video in Inter coding mode and Gilbert´s error model to generate the error patterns in wireless network environment. The simulation results show that BDP is more efficient than BP (Block based Packetization) or DP (Dispersive Packetization) in both PSNR and visual quality.

  • Script viruses are easy to make a variation because they can be built easily and be spread in text format. Thus signature-based method has a limitation in detecting script viruses. In a consequence, many researches suggest simple heuristic methods, but high false-positive error is always being an obstacle. In order to overcome this problem, our previous study concentrated on analyzing data flow of codes and has low-false positive error, but still could not detect a polymorphic virus because polymorphic virus loads self body and changes it before make a descendent. We suggest a heuristic detection method which expands the detection range of previous method to include polymorphic script viruses. Expanded data flow analysis heuristic has an expanded grammar to detect Polymorphic copy Propagation. Finally, we will show the experimental result for the effectiveness of suggested method.

Performance Analysis of Indoor Localization Algorithm Using Virtual Access Points in Wi-Fi Environment (Wi-Fi 환경에서 가상 Access Point를 이용한 실내 위치추정 알고리즘의 성능분석)

  • In recent years, indoor localization has been researched for the improvement of its localization accuracy capability in Wi-Fi environment. The fingerprint and RF propagation models has been the main approach in determining indoor positioning. With the use of fingerprint, a low-cost, versatile localization system can be achieved without the use of external hardware. However, only a few research have been made on virtual access points (VAPs) among indoor localization models. In this paper, the idea of indoor localization system using fingerprint with the addition of VAP in Wi-Fi environment is discussed. The idea is to virtually add APs in the existing indoor Wi-Fi system, this would mean additional virtually APs in the network. The experiments of the proposed algorithm shows the positive results when 2VAPs are used compared with only APs. A combination of 3APs and 2VAPs in the 3rd case had the lowest average error of 3.99 among its 4 scenarios.

A Multi-Antenna Mobile Measurement System for DTV Coverage Measurement (DTV 커버리지 측정을 위한 다중 안테나 이동측정시스템)

  • This paper presents a novel mobile measurement system with multi antennas which enable mobile measurement as well as fixed measurement with telescope mast. Proposed system installed 4 omni directional antennas for the space diversity process and one directional log periodic antenna for the simultaneous conventional fixed measurement. Whole antenna systems are connected to the custom DTV channel analyzers with Ethernet networks respectively and processed by the main controller to calculate real time average receive levels. To prove the performance of proposed system, the typical receive models are categorized as 3 area types - open area, building area and house area, and then intensive field tests were performed through mobile and fixed measurement phases. With these measurement data, the relationships between mobile and fixed measurement are analyzed, and the concept of compensation factor is proposed to assume the average receive level of signal. The field test is fulfilled as a co-work with public broadcasters and the proposed system is applied to the intensive coverage measurement projects for metropolitan areas by the korean government agencies.
